Gustav sighed as he leaned back on the couch, staring blankly at the ceiling. His mind traveled way back to the time when he was young. When he was four, Thomas told him that he was adopted by his family, to which little Gustav was more than eager to hear the news. He enjoyed being the only child and had everything of his own. A bedroom full of toys, high-end clothes, and the love of his father. For a moment, Gustav felt his life was full of sunshine and rainbows.

He remembered Thomas once told him, “You have to be a successful man, more than your old man, Gustav. And I’ll make you the heir to the family fortune.”

Little Gustav had no idea what did those words mean, but once Thomas mentioned having the family’s riches to his own, his little eyes glimmered in joy. Gustav was more than excited to get that title and enjoy a luxurious life.
