Chantria

“I feel like someone is digging inside my stomach,” Chanel mumbles while lying on her bed. She heaves a sigh, trying to stop whoever it is that’s digging her stomach.

It seems like she is finally herself now a little since she can talk straight and without stuttering. At least she is not that drunk compared to before. Because I swear, Carleigh will not stop nagging her for the following weeks. And she is quite the nagger.

I am scanning on my news feed right now, smiling at the comments on the video I posted online. It already has thousands of likes and shares, and people are starting to pour the comment section.

Chanel hasn’t seen it yet, unfortunately, but it can wait. For now, I need to let other people see it and wait for their reactions. I can’t wait for her boyfriend’s response as well. I wonder how he will react. Or if he has the guts to react at all. I mean, this is Chanel I am talking about. Many people love her.

“Yeah,” Carleigh said, “and if you do not stop drinking like that at parties from now on, I will dig it some more myself.”

I chuckle. “If I were you, Chanel, I would be threatened. She can really dig, I assure you.” That's true. I remember how she punched me in the face before for punching another guy. Well, that's something that needs to be buried in the past forever.

Sighing in defeat, she says, “Alright, I won’t anymore. It just gives me headaches every morning anyway.”

I chuckle again, reading Samantha’s comment about the video, saying she can suggest names if I want. And she is sure the guys she knows have bigger d-icks, just like Chanel wants it.

I immediately reply to her to send the list privately, but not to me, to Chanel. And when she says that she already did, I look at Chanel’s reaction as she fishes from the pocket of her pajamas. I do not try to hide my facial expression because there is really no need to. I just want to enjoy this little revenge of mine.

At first, her eyebrows crease at whatever it is she’s reading, then she starts typing so fast. After a while, her eyebrows crease some more, then more typing. She suddenly sits up straight abruptly, watching something on her phone. That is my cue to stand and go inside the bathroom to hide temporarily from the wrath of my little sister.

“Chantria! How dare you?”

I am laughing out loud inside the bathroom after I lock the door. A banging from outside startles me for a while, but I just go back to laughing. I play the video I took of her and makes the volume louder for them to hear. I snort.

“Ben and I broke up a while ago after we made out. He is a good kisser, you know.”

“Then, why did you break up with him if he is a good kisser?”

“Because his d-ick is so small! Ghad, Chantria, it is so small that I can’t reach my climax whenever we had s-ex. It feels better when I finger myself. What am I supposed to do? Girl needs a bigger d-ick!”

“I am going to pull all your teeth when you get out there. I swear!” Chanel growls from the door, still banging. “Why did you upload this? Argh!” She makes a gagging sound. “My stomach is turning again. I want to vomit.”

“Why are you so mad?” I ask. “There is nothing wrong with the video.”

“You are well aware of why I am angry, Chantria. Everything about the video is wrong!” She is still growling, but her voice calms for a while before she continues. “Okay, not the part where I broke up with Ben and the d-ick part because all of those are true. But come on, Chantria! I look like a mess in the video. My hair, my lipstick, my ghad!”

That makes me shake my head. I know that it is not about the words she said but more about her appearance. She hates it when her picture, or video, gets leaked like this. That is because she always wants to be presentable and gorgeous in everything that she is posting online.

Not this time, though.

“This is called revenge, Chanel!” I shout from inside the bathroom. My voice echoes, and it is like my voice is bouncing on my ears continuously. I laugh like a witch and wait for her response.

“What? I didn’t do anything to you –oh!”

I roll my eyes even though she can’t see me. “Remember somethin’ now?” I ask sarcastically.

“Well, I can’t do anything about that. Dad threatened to cut off my card if I did not tell the truth. What am I suppose to do?”

“So, you chose your card over your sister, huh?” My voice has an accusing tone in it, but I intend it to sound like that. She needs to know that I am still upset at what she did. And all of that is for her card, all for money. I don't care about being grounded, though, since I barely go out of my room anyway.

“I didn’t know dad would ground you because you didn’t attend the meeting that was supposed to be your debut at the company. Take note, the company that is going to be yours soon. What were you thinking? Can you imagine the embarrassment on dad’s face while waiting for his daughter to come, and no one came? If I was in that position, I would not just ground you. I would freeze your card as well. Better yet, freeze you to death.”

I heave a sigh, thinking about the things she said. Right, it was partly my fault for not attending, but I am not supposed to show my face in the company until my eighteenth birthday. That was my condition, and I was not ready yet. And they knew that.

“Hey,” a soft voice whispers outside. I know that voice really well. Only Carleigh can make her voice as smooth as that. Chanel is more like the boombox type of person. She doesn’t know how to whisper. She likes it loud.

One time, when we were just kids, she shouted at my ears so loud. She was so angry at me. But it was too late when she realized that I was crying in pain. All I could hear was the ringing inside my ears, like a radio’s static or television with a bad signal. Our mom rushed me to the hospital, and Chanel cried so hard even though I had already stopped.

I open the door with a glum look painted on my face. “I am going to inherit the company, Carleigh. I have already accepted it for you. I know how much you hate our dad’s company, and you have a dream of your own that you want to pursue. But I was just not ready yet. At least, I am now since I am already eighteen.”

“That is not what I am about to say.” I chuckle but doesn’t say a word. “I am sorry.”

I pout. “I told you never to apologize again, didn’t I?”

“But still, I’m sorry. If not for me, you won’t even have to inherit anything. We all hated dad’s company. The three of us didn’t want to have any affiliation with one of the Big Three.”

“Yeah, but someone has to.” I bit my lower lip. “And I will. I don’t know what I want or what I dream of anyway. So, maybe I’ll just go with his company. Maybe, just maybe, I will come to love it.”

Carleigh stares at me. The kind of stare that is telling me so many things without the need of the mouth. I hug her, and later on, Chanel joins our little circle even though I am still upset at what she did. At least we are even now because of the video.

I just can’t stop thinking about what happened these past few months as I nuzzle on their hug.

ChantriaA lot of things had happened in our lives even though we were still kids. Our mom died on the same date as our baptismal day before we could even go to church. It was a few days from today’s date. We couldn’t get ourselves together at her funeral. We cried a lot that I couldn’t even remember how we got home. After the funeral service, our dad went to work like nothing had happened. He instructed the butlers and maids to send us to school the next day like he didn’t care for our feelings. It was like he was telling us, ‘You already cried a lot at the funeral. Get yourselves together. We still have a lot of things to do.’But I didn’t hate him for that. I know how painful it was for him, like how it was for us. We knew that he was just trying to put on a strong façade so that we would, too.Not too long after our mom passed away, my dad announced that Carleigh, the second-born and the most intelligent one, was going to inherit his business. And when I mean his business, his pri

ChantriaNotwithstanding my series of sighs, the undeniable fear failed to subside. Any moment from now, we would eventually reach the hotel where Dad was staying but I wanted to slope off.Chanel was casually applying makeup on her face while we were inside the car. On the other hand, Carleigh was taking a quick nap at the back. I was the only one jittering among us out of perturbation. I honestly didn't know why I was anxious. Our father called us early in the morning at the hotel he was currently staying at. He didn't mention why. However, if my suspicion was right, it was all about the passing of his company to me. It was expected for me to inherit the company. Nevertheless, I still felt the worry creeping down my spine as I thought of it.It wasn’t just any business. It was our family’s business and one of the Big Three. The company which Dad and my grandfathers managed to build and prolong its top rank for how many decades. It was one of the biggest companies not only in the cou

ChantriaI was enjoying myself while taking my breather on our way to the Maldives. It was quiet inside the plane and I could only hear the swishing of the wind. The plane was already flying above the clouds and it was too late for me to realize how many hours we had been inside. I was about to sleep but my rest was interrupted when a commotion took place where I was."Can you please calm your butt, Aiyara?" I exclaimed, calling Chanel by her second name, which by the way, she hated the most. She glared at me. "My butt is always calm, Yvonne," she retorted. I didn't hate my second name, so I didn't take it as an insult."You've been fidgeting on your seat ever since we took flight. I know you're excited but can you calm down for a moment? Get lost in the Maldives.”She snorted. "I'm not fidgeting. I'm simply taking selfies. What's wrong with that?""Then, can you please take a selfie quietly? How can you be so fidgety just capturing your Espasol face?”"What?" she exclaimed. "My face

ChantriaIt took me a few seconds to realize what was happening. Carleigh was already beating up the guy who called me a gold digger. People were watching them but no one moved to stop them. That was my cue to stop my twin sister before she could kill this man. She needed to learn how to control her anger, especially when it comes to me and Chanel. I've noticed it for a long time that she tend to become violent when it comes to us but I just didn't pay attention to it before. She tends to be reckless when it comes to us.Whenever someone bullies me, she always comes to the rescue. Before, she was not violent. Recently I have noticed that she is being irritable and being physical. And I know, this wasn't good."Leigh, stop it! You might kill that." I held her fist before it could land on the guy's face again. The one guy looked handsome. Blood was clearly visible on his cheeks and lips. But it was his fault anyway for calling me that no matter what are his reason.I took Carleigh aw

ChantriaOn our second day, the three of us splashed around together in the water. At first, Carleigh refused to descend to the water, but she should be with us. We went here to enjoy, not to sulk. That was the reason why when we dragged her, escaping wouldn't have been possible. At the latter, she joined us swimming under the scorching heat of the sun."What?" Chanel exclaimed. "Carleigh beat someone last night! What happened?" She was drying her hair while sitting under an umbrella after we paddled."Yup! The guy might be dead by now. He must be thankful since I was able to stop her." I still shrugged as if nothing had happened. I was very annoyed yesterday, however, the man's words didn't affect me at all now. I know myself more than anyone— that I am not a gold digger."Wait! Why? Did he hit you or something? Tell me everything.”I sat between Chanel and Carleigh before telling her the story. "That guy marched in my direction, fuming mad, and accused me of something I didn't eve

Chantria I opened my eyes when I felt someone tap my cheek. I opened my eyes slowly until I could see Carleigh's worried face. When I looked around, I realized that it was not a dream. I was already outside the overturned car while Carleigh was trying to pull Chanel out who was still unconscious. That's when I felt pain all over my body. I don't even know what part hurts because I feel like I have a wound all over my body. I tried to stand up, but my body just screamed because of the pain so I lay down on the grass again. I adjusted my vision because it was out of focus. It's fading and it's like I'm going to lose consciousness again in just a few seconds. Honestly, I just want to close my eyes and sleep because my body is so heavy. But I know that I shouldn't. Something's wrong. I can feel it. Just the way Carleigh looked at me earlier, I knew something was wrong. "Wake up, Chantria," said Carleigh. I could tell the tiredness and pain in the tone of her speech, but she didn't car

Chantria“Run!” Carleigh shouted before pulling something from the side and raining gunfire.I just stopped before covering my ears. I carried Chanel even though she was very heavy. They turned out to be right. It’s really different when it comes to adrenaline. You can even carry a large refrigerator. I didn’t know that with my small build, I would be able to lift Chanel who is also about a few inches taller than me.I could hear the reverberating of the gun around me. I don’t know where the shooter is coming from. All I know is that I have to get out of there with Chanel. I also wanted to drag Carleigh out of there, but I know that I can’t. I know how hard my twin’s skull is.I didn’t realize that Carleigh was right next to me helping me lift Chanel. I was so nervous that I could only see the road.“I need you to get out of here, Chan,” he said. “Take Chanel with you. At the end of the road, Joaquin is waiting with the guards. They should probably be marching their way here. I will d

ChantriaI slowly opened my eyes. When my eyes adjusted, I looked around. Everything's white and quiet. All I could hear was the loud beeping of an engine. How many times have I seen this scenario in a movie? How many times have I told myself that this scenario is getting boring because it just keeps repeating itself? I can not remember. And here I am, like a star in a movie. A movie that I pray is just a big dream.I looked at who was in the bed next to me. There I saw that Chanel was still unconscious. It's just the two of us in a room. I tried to look on the other side of my bed, just in case Carleigh was there. My tears flowed quickly. I don't want to assume, but my tears won't stop from falling. I struggled to get up from lying down and removed the things that were attached to me. I immediately covered the wound from the IV before trying to stand up.I looked at Chanel's condition before I walked towards the door. But before I could even get close to it, it opened by itself. I ignored the throbbing pain in my senses because there was only one thing I wanted to see right now."Carleigh!" I exclaimed as I entered the living room of our house with Chanel.Chanel and Iwatani, who were playing Xbox, both turned to look at me. Iwatani immediately stopped playing to talk to me."She's in the kitchen," Chanel replied. "She said she wanted to cook for you."I didn't finish what she was saying and ran to the kitchen. There I saw her back turned on me. She was mixing something in the pan.Tears once again fell from my eyes. I can't believe that she's really here. It wasn't a dream. She's really in front of me."Carleigh..." I said. She turned around briefly, surprised at my sudden speech. "Chantria, you're awake. How are you feeling? He leaned on it, looking at me as if he wasn't scared of what I was holding."Isaac? Why? He's not my best friend, but we're friends too. Do you know him?""I don't just know him. I know him well."Lance turned to his friend when he asked, so Gab answered. "She's Chantria, Lance. Or you might know her as Seanne."Lance's jaw dropped and he seemed frozen in place. "This is the girl you're crazy about? I didn't expect this from you."I tried not to react to what Lance said. He might be lying. No. He's definitely lying. Iwatani isn't even here, as he said. ChantriaAfter a long day at work, I went straight to our house with Chanel. And yes, we’re still living together. However, we rarely see each other except in the morning before we go to work. But I was surprised because she came home early today."You're early," I greeted her. I also slumped on the sofa and grabbed the chips she was eating."Just for a change. I need a break," she replied. We were quiet for a while, watching TV when she suddenly spoke. "I heard the one who killed Carleigh is caught." Her voice was low, just enough for me to hear."I don't know yet. But according to Lorreine, the man they caught had something to do with what happened. I don't know if he's the one who killed her or if there's someone else involved.""Why do you seem hesitant? This is what we've been waiting for, right? To find the killer.""I don't know. I also adjusted my fake glasses to see where I was going more clearly.I continued pushing the cleaning supplies towards the elevator. I greeted some people I passed by and they greeted me back, but they didn't ask any further questions.I needed to act as natural as possible. I didn't want to get caught after everything I had done for this mission. I wouldn't leave the hotel without finding any evidence against them. When I reached the twelfth floor, I got off and continued pushing the cleaning supplies towards Gab's room.I looked left and right before inserting the key card and swiping it. I held my breath until the lock clicked, indicating that the door had opened. Lorreine was really reliable in these kinds of tasks. And Chanel would surely scold me if she found out. Well, he's not sure if he really loves me or not, but he said his feelings haven't changed. There's something inside me that hopes he's telling the truth. There's a part of me that believes he really had nothing to do with what his dad was doing. He was just caught in the middle. Now, I just have to wait. Wait for whatever plan he has in mind. Chantria"Congratulations on passing the interview," said HR Manager Ms. Dianne Gutierrez. "From here on out, you'll be assigned to different leaders to guide you. I want to introduce you to Miss Anna Marshall, the head of the marketing department."A tall woman with glasses introduced herself. Afterwards, Lorreine and Louella were introduced as Miss Marshall's apprentices."And Miss Yao Lu, the head of the general management." She was a shorter woman with glasses, but with thicker lenses.Chanel and I nodded as she called out our names. We were assigned to her. Only Ma'am Dianne knew who we were to avoid favoritism in the company. We didn't want any privilege as apprentices here.
