“Ana…”

I turned around and blinked my eyes as I looked around, remembering that we were actually in the town hall. I instinctively touched my head and raised my hand as a sign that I was okay.

“F–ck! Your hands are bleeding!”

I looked at my hand and Martin was right, my hand was bleeding because I had accidentally broken the glass in front of me. I stood up and grabbed my bag.

“I’m fine, Martin. I need to use the restroom,” I replied as I walked out, but I stopped at Levy’s question.

“Why do you want to reopen the case? Is there foul play involved in what happened?”

My face darkened, and my jaw tightened at his foolish question. I glanced at them blankly but didn’t answer and left the conference room. I went straight to the bathroom and locked the door.

Furthermore, I held on to the sink while the blood continued to drip from my hand. I took a few deep breaths before looking in the mirror. I wiped my blood on the mirror, and I could clearly see my reflection, and then I remembered wha

THIRD POV They quietly arrived at the mansion, but Caridad remembered what Levy did at the meeting. “Why did you agree? What if Ana finds out?” Caridad asked Don Levy, who stopped and looked back at them. “She won’t find out. The chief knows what he’s doing, so I can rely on him,” Levy replied seriously. Caridad stopped and furrowed her brow as she looked at her husband. “Do you have a plan?” Don Levy smirked and looked at his wife. “If Ana thinks she can deceive me, she’s wrong,” he said with a smirk. Caridad’s eyes widened in surprise. “W-what?” Caridad was still confused because she thought her husband was really going to open Ana’s case. Don Levy approached Caridad and caressed her cheek with a smile. “Honey, we’re at the top. Neither Ana nor Don Martin can ruin our family and my ambitions.” He lowered his touch to Caridad's neck, causing her to flinch. “I opened the case, so Ana wouldn’t suspect us. I know she has a reason for hiding for over six years… If she gets in the

THIRD POVLevi and Caridad went to the police station to meet the new chief of San Alfonso. They were greeted by other officers, who seemed surprised by their arrival.“Good morning. Is the new chief here?” Levi asked. A female officer nodded in response. The female police officer knocked on the chief’s office and announced, “The Mayor and his wife are here.”“Come in!” the chief replied.Levi and Caridad exchanged looks, feeling unsure about the new chief. His voice didn’t sound like that of a typical police officer. The female officer bowed and opened the office door, inviting them inside. Levi nodded and entered. The chief paused in his work, smiled, and then lifted his gaze to face the mayor of San Alfonso. The chief stood up and greeted the mayor of San Alfonso with a smile. “You must be Don Levi?” he asked, extending his hand for a handshake. “I’m Tyron Chen, the new chief of police in San Alfonso. CHLOE’s POV(“What the heck, girl? Is that true?!”)I rolled my eyes and leaned back against the headboard of the bed.“Yes, she’s alive! That b***h is alive!” I angrily exclaimed to my friend on the video call.My friend’s eyes widened in disbelief.“Oh my gosh! What was Mateo’s reaction?” she asked.I clenched my fists. “What do you think? He was completely shocked! And now he's following Ana around like a lost puppy!”(“Really? Oh no, girl! She might be stealing Mateo from you!”) she joked.I glared at her. “I will not let that happen! Mateo is mine!”I was interrupted by a knock on my door.“Who is it? You’re disturbing me!” I shouted, getting up to answer the door.Mateo wasn’t at the Hacienda, either, as he had business to attend to. There were problems with his company that we couldn’t understand, and it seemed like investors were starting to pull out.I’m sure that was Ana’s doing! That bitch!I shook my head and finally opened the door.“Ma’am, someone left this outside the H

When Ana returned to the Hacienda, she suddenly heard beautiful music coming from the piano. As she entered, she noticed that the lights were off, and the only sound she could hear was the piano. She followed the music and was surprised to find Martin playing the piano.Leaning against the wall, she watched Martin play with a grin on her face, and she also noticed a bottle of wine next to him.“How was it?” he asked.Ana blinked, realizing that Martin had finished playing without her noticing because she was so engrossed in the music.“Beautiful! I didn’t know you could play the piano,” Ana said with a smile. Martin raised an eyebrow and shook his head slightly.“No, not that. How was it going back to the Villalobos hacienda?” She paused and hesitated, but later on, Ana just smiled and approached Martin to join his Wine night.“Chloe is funny! I didn’t expect her to still have fears,” Ana said with a laugh. Martin’s face turned serious as he looked at Ana before grinning.“She knows

When they arrived at the mansion after the lunch meeting, Mateo immediately confronted his wife.“Are you going crazy?!” Mateo pulled Chloe tightly by the arm.Chloe winced as she tried to free her arm from Mateo’s grip. “Ouch! You’re hurting me, Mateo!” Chloe cried.Mateo tightened his grip even more. “You’regoing to get hurt! You embarrassed Ana!”Chloe stopped and looked at Mateo, feeling even more nervous, as she had never seen her husband so mad before.“Mateo, I’m your wife! I just did what was right!” Chloe cried out. Mateo turned to her and laughed sarcastically.“Right? Was what you did earlier right?!”Chloe pushed Mateo and confronted him. “YES! Ever since she arrived, everything has been chaotic! ANA’s POVAs I looked around San Alfonso, I didn’t realize that the car had already stopped.“Lady Ana,”I looked at Alexis and raised my eyebrows, wondering why we had stopped. “Hmm?”He scratched his head and seemed hesitant to speak.“Alexis, what’s going on?” I asked him. He took a deep breath and pointed towards the entrance of the ranch.“It’s forbidden to enter the Montes’ territory,”I furrowed my brow, not understanding what he was saying.“Their properties have been closed for a long time. Don Levi also prohibited us from going to this area.”What?“How did he forbid it? Wasn’t the former Vice Mayor the pillar of the Montes’ family?” I asked. He sighed and shook his head slowly.“Since the incident in San Alfonso, they have closed the Montes’ properties. It was also Don Levi’s order, as it would be detrimental to the future of San Alfonso.”I stopped when I heard that story before, when I overheard Martin talking to his uncle.“How long have you been here in San Alfonso, Ale

THIRD POVThe long-awaited night for Ana has finally arrived…“Chloe, Mateo, please do not fight at Ana’s party,” Caridad said seriously, as they still avoided eye contact.“Show your Villalobos pride. Don’t embarrass us. There will be many guests at Ana’s party,” Don Levi added, adjusting his necktie.Chloe just rolled her eyes and gave Mateo a dirty look, who still couldn’t speak properly after coming home completely drunk.“Mateo, show everyone your love for your wife,” Caridad said seriously.Mateo paused and looked at his mother. “Ana is the only wife I have.”Chloe’s eyes widened as she heard her husband’s voice for the first time since he came home, as he had been silent ever since.Don Levi cleared his throat and put his hand on Mateo’s shoulder. “Son, you will take over for me when I retire. And Ana? She’s no longer your wife, okay? She’s our enemy,” Don Levi said softly to his son, who just brushed his hand away and adjusted his outfit.Don Levi sighed at his daughter’s acti

Ana finished playing the song, and a moment of silence followed. The audience was captivated, and familiar music filled the room. Ana’s fingers danced across the piano keys, and the audience, both familiar and foreign, rose to their feet to applaud her performance.Ana wiped away tears from her eyes and looked around in disbelief. “Martin, we thought… Ana didn’t know how to play the piano,” one of her friends said.“Yeah, I remember that. We taught her because she said she didn’t know how to play any instruments, right?”“She’s outstanding!”Ignoring his friends’ comments, Martin continued to stare at Ana, who was still staring blankly at the piano. The host coughed and quickly made his way to the stage to praise Ana. “Wow! That was an outstanding performance, Lady Ana!”Ana blinked and smiled at the host before standing up to face the audience. “How did you learn to play the piano, Lady Ana?” the host asked.Ana smiled and took a deep breath. “I don’t know, to be honest. We left the hacienda and headed straight to Martin’s estate. Many people waved at us with big smiles on their faces. The gate was opened for us, and Martin's staff immediately bowed as the car entered. Alexis parked the car in front of the mansion. As we got out, our guests greeted us with excitement. “Welcome back, Max, Rio, Martin, and Ana!” Even Martin’s workers greeted us as we returned. I chuckled and hugged our friends, and Martin also greeted them, though his irritation with Paris was still evident. Paris, have a family, but she was still as noisy as ever. “Oh, they are all grown up!” She approached the children and hugged them. “Do they understand English?” I nodded, but I couldn’t help but laugh as they seemed puzzled by Paris. Paris’s child approached me, so I gave her some chocolates. Our children greeted their uncles and aunts by bowing, as they must have seen Martino do to their father. I noticed a young girl approaching Maximo. “Hi!” she greeted my son, blushing.

8 YEARS LATER… “We’re here…” I lifted my sleeping mask and squinted at the sunlight. “Oh,” I chuckled softly, feeling old especially with my three piglet-like kids in tow. “¿Dónde estamos, papá? (Where are we, dad?)” asked my middle child, Isaac Montecillo, the most mischievous of the three. “Ya estamos en Filipinas. ¿Estabas durmiendo otra vez, Isaac, cuando hablamos de venir aquí? (We’re already in the Philippines. Were you sleeping again, Isaac, when we talked about coming here?)” my eldest, Maximo Julian Montecillo, asked without much enthusiasm, engrossed in his book as usual. He takes after his father. Even his looks are a spitting image of him. Annoying! Wouldn’t it be better if he took after me, since he was the first one out? Martin's genes are strong! “¡Oye, no estoy durmiendo! ¿Y por qué vuelves a entrometerte en la conversación? ¡Solo lee tu libro! (Hey, I’m not sleeping! And why are you butting in the conversation again? Just read your book!)” They glared at each o

“First-degree attempted murder of Ana Bernardino, Mrs. Chloe Villalobos is found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment…” I closed my eyes and smiled when I heard those words. I tightly held Martin’s hand as we listened to the final verdict. Furthermore, I glanced at Chloe’s parents and saw them crying while embracing her. I then looked behind me where Mateo was seated. Even with a hat and a mask, I recognized his posture. He glanced at me but quickly looked away. I sighed and turned to Martin, giving him a smile. “And for Mrs. Caridad Villalobos, the charges are mounting: first-degree murder of Stella Montes, Tasing, Don Ignacio Montes, and Don Martinez, first-degree attempted murder of Ms. Ana Bernardino, and reckless imprudence. She is found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.” The crowd erupted in cheers as they continued to support my father in court upon hearing the verdict for Caridad. I smiled through tears, feeling the long-awaited justice finally

There was chaos in San Alfonso when a fire broke out in the entire town. Martin held on to his waist as he watched the Villalobos mansion burn, worrying about Ana. “Damn it!” he shouted and kicked the rock in front of him. The firefighters, police, and his cousin arrived. “You!” he immediately grabbed Tyron’s collar, who raised his hands. “Is this Ana’s plan? I know you’ve been secretly meeting for a plan! Damn you!” Tyron blocked his arm, thinking Martin was going to hit him. “Bro, this is not her plan, believe me. But she changed her mind quickly! She just ordered my men to burn Don Ignacio’s house and all the Villalobos' properties. This was not part of her plan, but I feel like she also wants everything to end. I apologize for keeping it from you because I’m more loyal to Ana, he-he,” Martin nudged Tyron, who stepped back but grinned. “They’re not here for Ana but for Caridad and Chloe,” they both turned to the police. “Mrs. Caridad Villalobos and Mrs. Chloe Villalobos, you

“I am sure you will be pleased with my projects if you elect me as the mayor of this town.” The crowd applauded in agreement with the projects, except for the demolition of my parents' mansion. Levi was about to step down from the stage when a video suddenly appeared. His eyes widened, and the crowd whispered as the video showed the former chief who handled my father’s case. (“I was ordered to arrest Don Ignacio for a crime he didn’t commit. Don Ignacio is innocent and is actually kind to people, always helping the poor.”) (“Who ordered you to arrest Don Ignacio?”) (“I-I-It was Don Levi… He also ordered us to beat Don Ignacio while in prison and make it look like he committed suicide to hide the truth… I hope Don Ignacio forgives me for betraying him, the one who appointed me as the chief of police.”) The whispers grew louder as Caridad panicked. I was stunned by the video, clenching my fists. (“Why is Don Ignacio being blamed for a crime he didn't commit?”) (“To prevent him

I was just staring at myself in the mirror while everyone around me was busy. I can’t wait to see them all embarrassed by what I’m about to do. “You’re gorgeous,” I smiled when I saw Uncle Max behind me. “Am I?” he grinned and nodded at me. He lowered his head to align our faces as he put his hand on my shoulder. “Te pareces a tu mamá (You look just like your mom)" he said as we looked at our reflection in the mirror. “¿En realidad? ¿Me parezco a ella? (Really? Do I look like her?)” I smiled and turned to him. “Oh, I am actually studying how to speak Spanish to be able to communicate with you,” I added and looked back at the mirror. He ran his hand through my hair. “hasta luego (See you later)” and kissed me on the cheek, so I just smiled and nodded at him. A few minutes passed before I was left alone in my room. I stood up to look at the gown I would be wearing. This night is special for the town of San Alfonso because it is the thirty-fourth anniversary of Levi and Caridad and

The election is coming soon!”He glared at me and pointed at my head. “I don’t care whether Dad wins or not!”“Come on, Mateo!”He ignored me and just went down the stairs. He seemed rushing. I looked at my watch and grabbed the keys to my car because I was going to follow him, maybe because of Ana again, why he was rushing.I bit my lip as I followed Mateo’s car and wondered why he was going to the falls. Damn. Perhaps he’s with another girl again? He parked the car, so I stopped mine not far away. I got out of the car and took heavy steps to make sure that girl knew she could fight for Mateo. When I reached the falls, I could hear the water flowing.“Ana! Sorry, I’m late!”Ana?
