Her Return
Her return back to the United States of America was a shocking one. No one expected Ava Winters to return as the head of one of the biggest wine companies across Europe. Those who knew who she was were very surprised to see her in charge, and Ava drank it all in. James came through when she called his number. He told her about Damon's schedule. "You can send it to the email I'll text you. And also, is Lily going to be with him?" "She's always with him." "Good. Then I'll be there." "Were you not going to be there if she wasn't?" "I would. But her presence there would only make the scene more dramatic." James said nothing to that. It wasn't any of his business. The house she had gotten for herself was a two-storey duplex, nothing fancy, but big enough. Ava Winters stayed there alone, letting Grace take care of Charles and Charlie back in Canada. They still had school, and she wasn't about to bring them into the limelight just yet. After all, no one even knew she kept the pregnancy. The first meeting that she attended was a wine-tasting ceremony. It was the primary reason for the event but Ava Winters knew that the big shots loved attending wine tasting ceremonies just so they could meet with other prospective moguls and discuss business. She saw them before they saw her. Damon and Lily, standing hand in hand and waiting for the show to properly start. Ava stood beside a pillar, a cup of wine in one hand and watched them carefully. Her sister had changed and she was sure it was because of Damon's influence. She glowed, but it was almost artificial. As for Damon, five years seemed to have added to his facial look and his physique. He appeared more muscular under the jacket, and he had grown a fitting beard. Her mind involuntarily went back to the good times they shared and she could not stop herself from thinking about the way he moved whenever he was in between her legs. Ava turned abruptly and walked into someone. The lady didn't take it kindly with her. "Watch where you're going!" she screamed, drawing everyone's eyes to that particular spot. "I'm sorry," Ava mumbled. She kept her head low. She wanted to be the one surprising Damon and Lily, not the other way around. But Damon saw her anyway. *** He left the woman he was holding and descended the stage. Was that her? Damon could only wonder. "Honey?" Lily called from behind, but Damon's mind was already preoccupied. He followed the retreating figure until he caught up with her. Then he blocked her way. "Ava?" She looked up at him and Damon could not believe his eyes. He put one hand over his chest as if to protect his heart from bursting out. Ava quickly collected herself and gave him a fainted smile. "Hello, Damon." "Ava? When did you get back?" "Some days ago." Damon scoffed. "What.. What are you doing here?" "Same thing you came here for. To taste wine." "How did you get an invite? Because this event is strictly by invitation." "Oh, poor you. After five years, you think I'm still that poor, miserable girl you married and threw away?" He started to say something but she held up her hand. "I didn't come here to discuss with you, Damon. I have better important people to meet with and talk business." Damon was shocked to hear that. "If you're looking for the most influential business person in this room, that would be me." Ava gave him a sorry look and said, "Not anymore." The rest of the ceremony was uneventful for Damon Blackwood. It felt as if he wanted to reach out and talk to Ava. He could not believe where the hell she had been for five years. He knew their marriage had ended on a very sorry note but she was the one responsible for his actions. So why the hell did it sound like she was spewing fire and brimstone? "Is everything okay, honey?" Lily asked him. "You seem disoriented." "I'm fine. I just need to talk to someone." A gathering had caught his eye and he walked over. Ava was discussing with Clay Coleman and Adam Drew. The very two people he had been hoping to have a business proposal with. "You're the head of Maron in the States?" Clay asked. "The first actually," she replied. "I have been hoping to meet one of the heads for a long time now but I figured the English didn't want anything to do with us." "Oh, they were only waiting for the right opportunity. We can have that meeting right now if you want." Clay and Adam exchanged a glance. Damon joined them and shook hands with both men. "Gentlemen. What's the discussion?" "The new head of Maron in the States was just allowing me to have that meeting I've always wanted to have with them," Clay said. Damon looked at Ava. "Head of Maron?" "I'll be heading the United States office, Damon Blackwood," Ava said, in a sultry manner. "If you didn't know that before." "Surprise that they are your closest competitors, Damon," Clay pointed that out, as if Damon didn't already know. "And you still want to have that meeting?" Clay shrugged. "Give us a minute," Damon said and ushered Ava to a private corner, one hand on her arm. "What was that about?" "Don't you ever touch me that way, Damon," Ava warmed. "Answer the damn question." "What does it look like I'm doing? Getting prospective partners for my company." "They are mine. Not yours." "And who says they can't invest two ways?" "I do. I came here to have a business proposal with them and you are trying to ruin it for me." "Your schedule has nothing to do with me, Damon. And to be frank, I think they are already fed up with your company's features. Maron has a better offer for them. Now, if you don't mind, I need to leave." Damon watched her go. If there was anything he didn't want to believe, it was the probability that he might have pushed her into getting back at him for the divorce. The question was, how far would she go?RageThe moment he walked into the living room, Damon cleared the table in one swoop and the flower vases fell to the floor."What's the problem? Why are you angry?" Lily asked, completely oblivious to the problem at hand."Your sister is the problem! the fucking problem!" Lily was confused as to what he was saying "What are you talking about?" "Your sister, Ava. Didn't you see her at the party?" Lily had not seen Ava at the party. And hearing her sister's name after five years was something that stole her composure. "Ava? At the party?" Damon poured himself a drink. "Yeah, she was there. And she had gotten some high position in Maron, so she had some sway over my investors.""The same Maron we have been competing with?" "Yeah," Damon said and swallowed his wine. "And what with all the stuff that happened five years ago I have a feeling she is here for more than just a competition. You should talk to her."Lily frowned. She didn't like that su
Sisterly Reunion.Getting an audience with Ava Winters wasn't that difficult. All Lily had to do was call Ava's office and pretend to be a financier under a different name. After all, Maron was looking to take hold in the United States of America, so Ava was in the mood to meet with people who had the money to invest.Since there was no secretary, Lily went straight into the office. And there was her sister in flesh and blood. The same one she had forced Damon to cast out of the house like a used rag.But she looked so much different now. Sitting behind the big table and in the midst of the decor. Lily had the feeling that her sister was going to be a powerful competitor soon. And she was the only one who could put a stop to that.Ava looked up, expecting to see someone she had never met before. Instead, she stared at Lily. Her sister.Ava smiled and shook her head from side to side.Lily walked close to the table and they stared at each other for a
Her Father's Killer Well, that was unbelievable. Never expected that something as sinister as that would ever happen to her family. And it was happening to her right under her nose, and she didn't even know about it all this while.Who could Ava blame? She was all cooped up in what felt like some miserable marriage to a man who didn't even want her at all.Didn't even try to find out the real reason her father had left this world. Well, she had been drinking herself to a stupor the same day that he was buried. All because of the pain that Ava felt inside of her. And Lily had been there to mourn and drink with her, but she had ulterior motives. How the hell could she have been so blind to all of that? How could she have shut her mind and her eyes to what had been sitting in front of her all this time? "I don't think you should blame yourself, Ava," James said to her. He was showing some concern but that wasn't even what Ava needed. She was expecting
Chapter 7Graveyard After she left James, Ava went straight to her father's grave. She wanted to see him one more time before she started on what she was about to accomplish. She knew that James was right, but she didn't want to appear as the wrong person. How would that make her look? In his eyes? Like some lady who was just doing it for the sake of nothing? She didn't even know exactly what her purpose was, but she just felt as if she deserved revenge on him.But it wasn't just Damon alone. Lily had played her part also in everything. And Ava wondered what she would do to her.Maybe when the time came, she'd know how to cross that bridge. Her father was buried in a private space. At least, they had made that possible. He had his little vicinity, even in death. She couldn't guess how long she had been to the place. But she was glad to be back. There were a thousand stars in the night sky. She watched them for a while then she brought out a small key and unlocked the padlock. The cha
The SignAva couldn't tell the reaction to Damon's face because it was too dark to notice any of his facial features. But he leaned away from her as if she was about to spit into his face."What the hell are you into, Ava?" he demanded. His voice held the trail of disgust. As if he was very much unsatisfied with what she had said to him. "How could you say a thing like that? He was my friend. What reason would I have had to kill him? Wasn't even in the country when he had his accident.""I wasn't talking about your friend, Damon Blackwood," Ava told him.He was momentarily confused. Then it cleared and he understood what she meant."Seriously?" Damon asked. "You are asking if I had a hand in the death of your father?" She said nothing. Just struck a defiant pose and folded her hands across her breasts. Damon scoffed. Like he could not even believe what she was asking him. She had come back from Canada, or wherever it was, she had been just to come t
To The Penthouse Damon knew that he could not take her to his house. Lily was at home, and she would wonder why he was bringing her twin sister home while she was unconscious. But when he thought about that, Damon realized that he had already solved the problem at hand. If she was dead, then he would have to put her body away for good. He'd call Victor. The man was good at finding people to take care of that kind of problem. And even if she wasn't dead, but just unconscious, he could just take her someplace that no one would ever find her. Tie her hands and legs and make her promise that she wouldn't have anything to do with Blackwood Industries again.Again, he'd call Victor and they would make the threats together.Damon knew that if he didn't kill the snake, it would grow into a dragon. That snake was Ava."Damn," he said.Damon rubbed his face with both palms, finding it very difficult to make a choice. He reached forward and touched her neck, tryin
The Cheater Damon caught it with one hand and thought about handing it back to her immediately. But he held it instead. She looked at the compress, hoping that he would just throw it back at her without her having to tell him.But he didn't do anything like that."I brought you here so that we could talk, Ava," he said."Talk about what?" she asked him."Could have left you in the car, still parked at the same damn place. Graveyard. But I didn't think that would be gentlemanly of me. So I brought you here."He reached forward and handed the cold compress back to her. Ava took it and held it to the back of her head again. She waited for him to say whatever it was he wanted to say to her. He poured himself a drink. She used that opportunity to look around the suite that she was staying in. It looked very unnecessary to her. Well, the man had a lot of money to spare. So some penthouse suite was probably nothing to afford. Damon had a big house and an expen

Chapter 39 Damon's worries “I am so sorry for interrupting your dinner, eva. I was seated alone, and I decided to come talk to you.”Damon said. “What is going on with you? You seem like you are bothered and got the weight of the world on your shoulders, “ Eva said with concern.Damon took a deep breath, and as he looked at Eva’s face, he didn't know how to start opening up to her or even telling her his worries.“What do you care, it is none of your business, what difference will it make if I tell you my problem.” Damon said as he hesitated.Well, you can keep your problems to yourself, I already have a lot to deal with on my own. Eva said as she rolled her eyes in disgust.Damon stayed mute and just stared at her. Then he suddenly loosened up.“I don't know what to think anymore, I know there is this vacuum between us that I don't know how to fill. It's just that….. things. Things are not as they used to be between me and Lily. We seem so distant. But we live together in
Coincidence at restaurant As Eva entered the conference room, she was welcomed with piercing eyes and faces with worries. She looked around and took a deep breath, and she immediately launched into confidence and determination. She greeted every one of them with a smile, and they responded with hesitation because of their anger and disappointment. Eva transformed into her confident mode and started her speech. “ Ladies and gentlemen, it is with all sincerity that I apologise for the incident that has occurred and caused so much loss and disorganisation. I know this fire outbreak has caused great disruption to this company. But I want to assure each and every one of you that we are indulged in recovering and rebuilding what has been lost.” she said, as her voice was steady and calm. “ We will commence working on a plan to get back to production, but we will start with exploring the options of using temporary facilities to start with production before we can gradually stabilize

She felt a chill of nervousness run through her spine, and she managed to calm down and coordinate her emotions. She opened her car door. Slowly, she came out of the car looking so stunning and gorgeous. She took her dark shades from her handbag and wore them. It was able to restrict her from any eye contact, and some knew her emotions, with the shade on it could cover her emotions. Eva wanted that, that's why she went for it. She walked majestically towards the entrance of the company, getting to the entrance. The security quickly recognised her presence,he opened the glass door, which was sleek and modernized, with excitement he greeted her warmly.
