I who was now Katara had to make a decision to keep my real identity hidden as long as possible; until I had a real plan to exact my revenge.
I thought about killing the man that had killed me, maybe in his sleep but I knew that I had to do something bigger. Something that would let the rogue werewolves know that the Thunder pack that they wiped out had come back to bite them in the behind!
I accepted the memories. I loathed who I now was, but it also gave me a chance to start over and get revenge. I needed not to be found out for who I really was. I needed to keep my true identity hidden no matter what.
I stared at myself in the mirror. I had heard stories of people reincarnating before but never believed them to be true. But now I was actually living the proof that I needed. It all felt like a dream to me.
I could feel tears building in my eyes as I remembered my parents. It was settling in that I was never going to see them again. They were gone. They were gone forever.
I knew that I had been given a rare gift from the Moon goddess. So many people died that day but I was the one chosen to come back to life. I could not wrap my head around why.
There were so many more impressive people who had died that day and deserved the gift that I had been given, so why was I chosen? I was only an insecure, introverted, she-wolf who was filled with fear.
‘Am I even brave enough, or would I let the Moon goddess, and my pack down?’ I thought to myself as I sniffled. I wiped away the tears on my face that had fallen from my eyes.
I was always the one on the sidelines but now I was in the major leagues. It was time for me to stand up and be the person that I always wanted to be.
A knock suddenly sounded at the door and I was startled. It sounded again and I walked away from the mirror and proceeded to walk toward the door. When I reached it, I turned the knob and swung open the door slowly.
A woman stood in front of her. She was wearing some kind of uniform and had her hair held in a very neat bun. “Good morning, my lady.” The woman curtsied. “I am so sorry to disturb you but your parents sent me to remind you that they’re waiting for you so they can start breakfast.”
“Oh,” My voice was strange to my ears. I was not used to hearing a strange voice come out of my mouth. “You wouldn’t mind escorting me to the dining area, would you?” I flashed the woman a polite smile.
“Oh, not at all.” The woman replied respectfully. I smiled shakily and stepped out of the room but was gently stopped by her. “Are you not going to change?”
I glanced at what I was wearing and realized that I was in a luxurious bedrobe. “It’s just breakfast, right?”
“Yes, but you have school in an hour also.” The woman frowned slightly and furrowed her eyebrows. “My lady, are you feeling well? You normally do these things as if you’re on autopilot. It’s strange to see that you’re not even dressed yet.”
I did not know what to say in response, I tried to speak but no words came out of my mouth. The woman watched me with intrigue.
“Okay,” She sighed. “I can help, but you have to be fast. Your parents are waiting for you.” She led me back into the room and showed me the bathroom.
After I had taken a shower, clothes were already laid out on the bed for me. I got dressed and soon I was ready. And it only took fifteen minutes.
“Let’s get going, we have to be fast,” The woman cautioned me as we headed out of the room and down the stairs. The house was huge and impressive. The floors were covered with expensive marble tiles and the ceilings were impressively high and had chandeliers hanging from them.
I was escorted to the dining area of the house and I saw the man who was now supposed to be my father; the man who had taken away everything good from me in a single day. I felt anger build up in me but I hid it expertly.
“Katara, what is wrong with you? The food is now cold!” The woman sitting at the table complained. “How long does it take to just simply walk down the stairs?”
“Darling…” The man tried to calm his wife. “She’s a teenager, cut her some slack.” He flashed me a warm smile.
“I’m not even going to waste my breath on you, Sam. You always take her side.” The woman rolled her eyes as I sat at the long table. There was enough food on the table to feed three families.
“I’m sorry. I’m…I’m not feeling like myself today.” I forced a smile and then grabbed a glass from the table and filled it up with orange juice. “I will try to be more punctual.”
The woman who had helped me get ready was standing not too far from the table. She watched for a few more seconds and then excused herself.
“Wow.” The woman who was supposed to be my new mom said and then chuckled. “You’re truly not yourself, I can agree with that. You never apologize and you are most definitely never this polite.” The woman placed some pork chop in her mouth.
“See? I told you. Something is up with her this morning.” Sam said after he swallowed his food.
After breakfast, I was taken to school in a Cadillac. I had my personal driver and the car was mine, but I was not allowed to drive it. I relaxed in the backseat and glanced at the buildings as the car pass them.
It was my first time being somewhere other than the town I had grown up in. I felt uneasy and anxiety choked me.
The car soon came to a stop in front of a huge school campus. The place was jaw-dropping. I could not wrap my head around how such an impressive town was run by rogue werewolves.
The driver got out of the car and walked to my side of the door. He opened the car door and I was taken aback. In my past life, I was the daughter of the Alpha and lived a luxurious lifestyle but this was a whole different level of special treatment.
“Thank you, but you did not have to. I could have done that myself.” I smiled at the driver as I got out of the car. The man was shocked. He closed the door and stared at me.
“Is there something wrong?”
“No, there is not. It’s just that you tell me to always open up the door for you, and the last time, I forgot and you had me thrown in jail for a day.” He explained, and I was awed.
I felt bad for the man but did not know how to explain to him that I was not the same person. “Oh, well, I’m deeply sorry that I behaved that way. I hope that you find it in your heart to forgive me,” I said to the man, and he smiled lopsidedly.
“Wow…thank you, ma’am.” He then excused himself and got back into the car.
I adjusted the designer tote bag on my shoulder that held my notepad, my laptop, and some other things like a pen. I walked into the building and everyone stared at me adoringly. People whispered and boys drooled.
“Hey there!” Someone startled me and I made a small scared sound, causing the person to laugh. “You scare so easily.” It was a girl. She was very beautiful and had long straight blonde hair.
“Hi,” I replied nervously and continued walking. I was trying my best to blend in but it was so hard when everyone was treating me like a billboard.
“So…” The girl walking beside me dragged the word. “I talked to my doctor and he said that I should wait a few more years before I get a BBL. How frustrating!” She rolled her eyes and popped the gum she was chewing.
I was someone who liked being alone. I enjoyed my own company and the friends I had in my past life were ones that I had known since I was in pre-school.
“Why do you want to get a BBL?” I tried to keep the conversation going but was already getting drained due to the massive amount of energy bouncing off the girl I was talking to.
“Are you serious, Katara? Who wouldn’t want one?” The girl replied and then she ran her hand through her hair as she flaunted her beauty.
As I and the girl walked down the hallway, a boy with braces and glasses waved to us and said, “Hi Vanity, and hi Katara!” He seemed excited to see us.
I waved back naturally but the girl walking with me made a disgusted face. “Ew, did you just wave back to Tony? Katara, what the hell? Next thing you’re going to be doing is kissing the toilet seat, huh?” Her tone was sarcastic.
“I-I was just trying to be nice.” I was confused. Was I just supposed to pretend like I didn’t see the boy waving at me? From the boy’s greeting, I learned that the girl that was walking with me was called Vanity.
“Nice? Oh, now you want to be nice to Tony? We embarrassed him in front of the whole school last week!” Vanity laughed. “He’s such a loser.”
I was already raising a few red flags and people were seeing that I was not acting like the body I was in. I knew that I had to pick up my act or it would not be long before someone would figure out that I was not the real Katara.
It was a secret that I could not afford to come out. “Yeah, he is,” I agreed with Vanity.
I walked close to her because I did not know where my supposed locker was. But I did know the classes that I had because I had found a schedule in my tote bag when I was coming to school.
“You’re being awfully quiet this morning? Are you on your period?” Vanity stopped in front of a bunch of lockers. She opened one of them and I immediately knew that the one next to it was mine.
It had an initial on it: K. W. I was sure the K stood for Katara, which was now my name.
I forced out a laugh and nodded. “I just don’t feel like myself this morning. I think I may have drank too much of my dad’s expensive liquor before bed last night.” I lied smoothly.
“Now, that’s the Katara that I freaking know!” Vanity smirked. “I can’t believe that you had fun without me last night.” She then pouted.
I chuckled. “Yeah, so much fun that I barely remember my locker combination.” I looked at Vanity with hope.
“Girl, you must have been wasted! I hate you for not letting me join your drinking party though.” Vanity took a few books out of her locker and then helped me open mine.
I kept my eyes on Vanity and soon learned the code. “I promise to sneak in a bottle for you next time.”
When the locker was opened, I saw so many things in it that I did not recognize. I took out some books from my tote bag and placed them in the locker and closed it back up.
As soon as I turned around to walk away with Vanity, I suddenly bumped into someone really hard, causing the books that the person was carrying to fall to the floor. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry.” The words left my mouth quickly.
Then my eyes landed on the victim of my accident. It was a green-eyed guy that took my breath away. He had a hard look in his eyes and was intimidatingly hot.
I stared at the guy for a few seconds longer than I should have. I had seen a lot of good-looking guys before but there was something about the green-eyed guy in front of me that awoke emotions buried deep within my belly.“Are you not going to pick up my books?” The guy crossed his arms on his chest and frowned. His tone was tense and he clenched his jaw. I finally came back to reality and made the attempt to bend down so I could pick up his books. It was my fault and I felt sorry for what had happened. “Hey, hey, hey!” Vanity stopped me from bending down to the floor. “Don’t touch those books. He’s the one that bumped into you.” She placed her hands on her hips.“Excuse me?” The guy chuckled dryly. “She was the one that bulldozed me!” He argued. “That’s no excuse, you should have seen her from a mile away,” Vanity fired back, and I felt uncomfortable. “You know what? I’m late for class, you two can go to hell.” The guy rolled his eyes and bent down to pick up his books. Vanity
My heart was thumping in my chest and my hands were sweaty. I was so scared. That was the first time a guy had treated me like that; in such an aggressive and sexual way. I did not want to feel that way again. I felt disgusted deep within me and a bitter taste coated my mouth. As I put more distance between the supply closet and me, I was beginning to feel much better; like I could finally breathe. Then I heard the door open. I glanced back in fear and saw Chad. He stood with a tight frown on his face. “Katara!” His voice echoed in the almost empty hall. The few students that were heading to their classes all stared at him and flashed him weird looks. The school had a lot of students but most of them were in classes right now. It was almost noon. There was not a single adult seen. I felt extremely alone. I had my parents to watch over me all my life, and now that they were dead, I had no one. I had to watch over myself. I had to protect myself. And that scared me like crazy.I ke
I glanced at Chad and back at Jade. He rocked his jaw gently and waited for a reply for me. “I, uh…” I could not produce a single coherent sentence. I was thinking too much. I really wanted to agree. I wanted to spend time with Jade, of course. He pulled on the strings of the heart. He made me feel alive. He had me curious about him in a way that I had never been about anyone. I wanted to get to know him better. But I could not. At least not now. It was too risky. I had to keep a low profile until I had figured out a plan to exact my revenge on the man that was responsible for the collapse of my pack. I had a mission; a sole purpose, and that was to make those rogue werewolves pay!I had been given a second chance by the Moon goddess, and if someone found out who I really was, that second chance would be all for nothing. And I had intentions of wasting such a precious gift. Jade chuckled without humor and shook his head slowly. “You know what? Forget that I asked.” He took his att
Confusion covered the features of her face and she chuckled lowly. “Forgive me for asking, but you have lived in this house all your life, why would you want a tour?” I smiled nervously and tried to come up with something. “I, um–I’m bored and I’m in the mood for a tour, is that a crime?” I shrugged lightly. “Certainly not, my lady.” The omega smiled pleasantly. “Would you like us to start the tour now?” I nodded and continued walking down the stairs until I was at the bottom. She followed me carefully. “Yeah, why not? But could we please stop by the kitchen first? I would like a snack.” The omega snorted a laugh and I raised an eyebrow questioningly. “Did I say something funny?” “No. I’m sorry, my lady. Um, please don’t get me fired,” She begged. “It just took me by surprise. You never have snacks. You have shied away from sugar since you were fifteen.” “Really?” I was not expecting that. Who on earth didn’t like snacks? “Well, I guess I’m deciding to make a change. And don’t y
There were multiple cells on both sides of the long hallway. As we walked further, the lights on the ceiling came to life. I heard chains dragging on the rough ground and soon, I started to see prisoners revealing themselves. “Please…help me,” One of the prisoners that I walked by cried. He sounded very hoarse and his skin looked raw as there were so many fresh beating marks on him. Tears glistened in my eyes as I stared at him. He looked like he was in agony. I could not believe that there was a dungeon filled with suffering people right under the mansion. That seemed very sadistic if you asked me. Imagine sleeping above people who were being regularly tortured.“They all are fed regularly but tortured once a week.” The omega informed me, and I felt disgusted. “Why are they kept here? What did they do wrong?” It took a few seconds before she replied to me. “I don’t really know. But I heard some of them are prisoners of war while others are people who had done terrible crimes.”
The face of my supposed father was covered with confusion. “How did you know that we had a new prisoner and that it was the Luna of the Thunder pack?” His tone was hard. His eyes were seeking answers. “I know about what you did.” I decided to put on a show, displaying myself as his daughter even though I was not. “I know that you and your men wiped out the Thunder pack. Their women and children were held as prisoners and their Alpha was killed.” My tone was firm, and a hint of anger flowed with it. “Ho–how did you know all this? You were at school when we ransacked that town.” “Whispers.” I forced a small smile. “The walls have ears. It did not take long for me to find out. It is said that you also killed a girl my age. The only daughter of the Alpha and Luna of that pack.” He blinked rapidly for a few seconds and then withdrew his arm from my shoulders before standing to his feet. “You should not be listening to rumors, Katara. If you want to find out anything, you come to me,
I contemplated turning the other way just to avoid Jade but his eyes then connected with mine and I had no choice but to play it cool and continue walking his way. There was a small staircase that was about five stairs that led deeper into the building of the school. It was on one of the stairs where he was sitting, with his black backpack next to him. He had a tight frown on his face and maintained eye contact with me as I neared him. Today he was wearing dirty converse and had on skinny jeans that showed off how toned his muscles were. The shirt he was wearing fitted him neatly, also showing how defined his upper body was. He was a sight to behold and I could stare at him all day without getting bored. Literally. “Hi,” I said softly as I sat next to him when I reached him. He scoffed lightly and peeled his attention off me as he played with one of the straps on his bag. “What do you want? To hit me again and tell me that it’s my fault?” He spat the words, and my face reddened.
Chad had a smirk on his face as he stared coldly at Jade. Jade did not back down and had a nonchalant look. “Chad, leave him alone. He’s not bugging me.” I touched his arm, and he peeled his eyes from Jade and looked at me. He balanced his weight rudely on Jade’s desk with his hands. “Are you sure, my love?” I swallowed. “Yes, I’m sure, Chad. Now, leave him alone. Please.” I begged him with pleading eyes, and I could tell from the expression on his face that he was looking for trouble. “Okay.” He smiled brightly. “Anything for my baby.” He took his hands from Jade’s desk. “Come with me, let’s go sit in the back.” He extended his hand to me. I could feel Jade’s eyes on me. And Chad was waiting for a response from me. “Why are you hesitating?” He continued. “So you want to take a break from me and want space, but you simultaneously want to sit next to this creep?”“Watch your language,” Jade said between his teeth. “Or what?” Chad scoffed the words out. He looked back at me. “Kata
Two months later, I was on my way to the werewolf prison. The sun was bright and yellow. The sky was blue and the wind was perfect. I wore my hair down and had the windows rolled down. The wind blew my hair back and it was actually really soothing. It felt like I was at the end of a movie, but I was far from that. My life was not over, in fact, I think it had just begun. In my past life, I was alive but barely lived. I was in constant pain and agony and when I was finally delivered from that kind of life, I was thrown into a new one that was filled with so much crap that I sometimes wished that I had not reincarnated. But now. Now, I was much much better. I was more mature. I was stronger in so many ways that I could not explain. I finally had peace and I got the revenge that I sought so badly. But I got it by letting go. I got my revenge by freeing myself from the hate, the anger, the rage, and the need to want to punch the wall over and over. I got my revenge and vindication for
The air was cold and had a sweet smell. We were still in the room that looked like a conference room. From the windows, you could see the beauty of the town. It was very magnificent. Both natural and unnatural light filled the room, so we had no light problem. “Who can corroborate your story?” General Sara asjed again. We had her full attention and I could tell that she really wanted to know if what we just told her was true. But the thing was, we were not worried, because it was indeed true. If it was not, then we would have been worried, but not when it was. “Sam, Katara, and Chad can do that. They can corroborate our story,” I explained to her. “They were there, of course. Have them questioned. They would have to tell the truth because they wouldn’t want their application to the Supreme Court Of Packs to be threatened.” “Hmm…” She mumbled in response and chewed playfully on the pen. “But if they’re not the ones you were hoping we could use as witnesses then we have one more pe
“Hands where we can see them!” One of the policemen said loudly and with authority. My heart was racing and my eyes darted almost everywhere. Then Jade tried to calm me. “Hey, hey, calm down.” “They’re about to arrest us, Jade! How do you expect me to calm down? They could literally take us back to the rogue town and who knows what Sam would do to us.” I was panicking. When the policemen closed the distance between us and them, one female patted me down and searched me while a male officer did the same to Jade. When they realized that we had nothing on us that could be a threat to them, they took their hands off us and took a few steps back. “What’s going on here?” Jade asked confidently but got no response. A black sleek car then pulled over in seconds and the door was opened by one of the officers. From in the car came down a beautiful dark-skinned lady with curly hair. Her face was void of any expression and she was dressed in some sort of military uniform that I couldn’t reco
Welcome to Greenleaf—the huge sign board read. The moment we drove into the beautiful and modern town, it was like everything got better. There was no way that Sam, his daughter, or Chad would be able to do anything to us in this town. “Wow,” My mom said at the same time that Gloria gasped. “This place reminds me of the human lands,” Gloria chuckled the words out. “Come on, mom. How do you know about how human lands look?” Jade’s voice was laced with some humor. He kept driving and from the look on his face, I could tell that he was amazed by the town too. “Son, I know a lot of things that would make your jaw drop. I once lived amongst humans. But that is a story for another time.” She smiled. “That is how I know that this town is almost a replica of how human places look.” “Well…yeah, you’re right. Humans once lived in this town; a long time ago,” I explained what I was told when I was in the town some days ago. “It’s so different, but in a beautiful and jaw-dropping way,” My m
After an hour of driving on the almost empty road, we got closer to the mansion. But before we could reach there, we passed right past Chad’s house. He was not lying about having a birthday party, I would say that. Loud music boomed from the house and so many people were still there; out in the compound partying. I could not imagine the number of people in the house. “Gosh, they’re celebrating after they tried to kill us,” Jade mumbled, then released a short sigh. He glanced at me and kept his eyes on me for a few seconds longer before asking, “Are you okay? You look like you’re in pain. Are you?” He was right. I was in pain. But I did not want him or anyone to know that. “What are talking about?” I tried to act as normal as possible, but it was not easy because pain tickled my bones with each breath that I took. “Lucia, don’t pretend. I noticed that you were in pain from the moment you freed me from that shack. I saw that you were trying to hide that fact from me so I pretended
We hid in the bushes and stayed as quiet as possible. Owls hooted and night creatures sang, but that was not what we were listening to. We had our ears open; to see whether we hear more sounds from the cabin. “I hear nothing,” Jade whispered to me. “Shhh, be quiet,” I replied to him in a breathy way. We stayed quiet and just as I expected, another sound erupted. It was the sound of the opening of the door. We ducked deeper into the bushes and waited to see who would walk out. The door swung open and there stood in a dark suit and smirk, was Sam. He ran his hands through his perfectly styled hair and wet his lips before walking down the small staircase that led to the forest ground. He placed his hands in his pockets and proceeded to walk to the back of the cabin but suddenly stopped, causing my heart to do a backflip. I reached for Jade’s hand and held it tightly in my hand. Sam started to sniff the air. It was clear that he was catching a foreign scent in the air. And that was u
I made sure that I had some cover in the bushes as I walked closer to the shack that I suspected Jade to be in. There was no car or any sort of vehicle parked around there so it was likely that Katara and Chad were not there. Though I had healed myself to some extent, I still was not totally healed. And that meant I was still in a world of pain, just not as much as before. I ran my hands through my hair and closed the distance between the shack and me. The door was locked, unlike the way mine was. If I had enough strength, I would have been able to wolf out and destroy the lock and a simple hit, but I could not. I had to find another way. I wiggled the lock on the door and sure enough, it was a strong one. I winced as a sharp stabbing pain rang around my rib area. I did not know what it was and I was not a doctor, so the best thing to do was to ignore it until I had gotten Jade the help he needed. I visually searched around for something to use to break the lock, then my eyes fina
Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. That was the sound that woke me up. The dripping of water into something like a metallic pan. I released a labored breath and then opened my heavy eyelids. The world was blurred for a few seconds until my vision cleared. My throat was very dry and I was in a lot of pain. I proceeded to get up from where I was lying but it was torture. I managed to do it though. I sat up and groaned as I study the room I was in. The air smelled like urine and mud. And the sound of the water dripping was now even louder. I soon realized that it was raining. And there was a leak from the ceiling. A metallic pan was placed under the part of the roof that was leaking, as a way to collect the dripping water. That was where the sound was coming from. My head was hurting so badly and I could not stop my eyes from producing tears. A sob escaped my mouth when my mind reminded me of everything that had happened. They knew. Katara and Chad knew, and now they were taking their revenge
Chad sat in the back, next to me, while Jade sat in the front, next to Katara. We did not want it that way but katara insisted. She said that she wanted Chad and me to get more comfortable with each other but all that did was make me more uncomfortable. The windows were rolled up and the AC was on full blast. The car smelled new and there was a tension hovering that I could not explain. I just felt on edge but I did not know what. “You said that the party would be held at Chad’s house, right?” I asked, trying to speak above the music that was playing in the car. “Hmm?” Chad locked eyes with me. And then his eyes widened a bit when his brain caught on to what I had asked. “Oh, yeah. It’s at my place. It’s going to be so much fun. You have no idea how long I have waited for this day.” He grinned. I let a few seconds pass between us before I spoke. “In case I did not say it, Happy birthday.” I flashed him a warm smile. He nodded in response and then mumbled, “Okay.” I did not know
