I felt like my heart was about to explode inside my chest, pounding non-stop, scared to death in case someone saw us go into the room where they had left my husband. Finally, I walked in and took a calming breath as soon as I heard the door click. The room was a typical hospital room, white, sterile and smelling of disinfectant.

In the middle of the room was Habbab, my husband, lying on his bed with an IV in his arm and a device monitoring his heartbeat. I walked to his side, held his hand and was about to burst into tears.

I wish I could turn back time, there was a moment in our relationship when I was sure things would not work out between the two of us. And I told him so, I told him to leave him, but then my father convinced me otherwise, he told me he was a good man, I could see it in his eyes, and I believed him, because I am a fool.
