Shawn's gaze was fixed on mine, his eyes showing a spark of vulnerability that I hadn't seen before.

"Serenity, please listen to me," he began, his voice low and surprisingly soothing. "I know I screwed up. I shouldn't have let our past get in the way of our present. When I said I love you, I meant it. And I want to make things right. I want to spend the rest of my life with you Serenity."

Suddenly, he knelt on one knee, opening the small velvet box in his hand, revealing a beautiful diamond ring inside.

"I know this might seem crazy. After everything I put you through, both in the past and present, it's crazy of me to still come back asking for your forgiveness. But if being termed 'crazy' means I get to spend the rest of my life with you, then I'm willing to be called that and more."

The meeting hall felt suffocating at that moment. I looked around, thanking the heavens that the hall was empty. Even my boss was nowhere to be seen. We were alone.
