174 The Final Phone Call

Nathan's POV

I accompanied Sebastian in burying Elizabeth. As Elizabeth's stiff and cold body gradually sank into the icy lake, I instinctively looked at Sebastian beside me. He didn't shed tears, but the loneliness and sorrow overflowing from his eyes directly pierced through my heart.

Wrapped in such a heavy atmosphere, neither of us had the inclination to speak on our way back home.

"Thanks for your help, Nathan."

At a fork in the road, Sebastian stopped and looked up, forcing a smile.

"But I still hope that what happened today will only be known to the two of us."

"Of course."

I reached out and patted Sebastian's shoulder, attempting to comfort him. But thinking that I was the one who killed Elizabeth, I opened my mouth and ultimately said nothing.

"Take care, Sebastian."

"You too, Targary."

Sebastian grinned at me, his tone suddenly becoming much more distant.

"Take care of yourself. There are more dangerous tasks waiting for us in the future."

"Yeah."
