In an eerie room, a half-naked man hung upside down like a skinned animal. The room smelled of decaying carcasses.
The pungent smell of rotting meat stung his nose. He struggled in his chains trying to break it but ended up bleeding from the wound caused by it.
His eyes were blurry and felt his eyes would fall out of its eye socket because of the high blood pressure in his head because someone hanged him upside down. He groaned from the torturous pain.
"Where the fuck am I?" He muttered. Because of the uncomfortable position he was in, he couldn't think straight.
He felt as if his brain was shutting down because of the exhaustion. He struggled but immediately stopped. Not because of the pain.
He heard footsteps becoming more vivid to his sharp ears. He could only see a pair of expensive black leather Derby shoes and black pants in front of him.
"Untie him". Hearing the familiar voice, he involuntarily let out a chuckle. Two men came and untied his chains and the man immediately fell to the hard surface, almost breaking his neck.
He lifted his head, massaging his neck. In front of him was a tall, handsome figure. A man in his late twenties.
His onyx eyes had a murderous glint in them, that of a poisonous serpent's. He had a lit cigarette in his right hand. He lifted his thin lips into a devious smirk.
"You are that old bastard's most loyal dog, let's test how loyal you are. Halton Miller," Hearing his words, Halton laughed like a madman.
He knew the old man had many enemies, but no one dared to lift a finger against him or his men. Seeing the foolish young man in front of him, he felt a sense of pity for him. He already knew what this fool wanted from him.
"If I wanted Halton Miller, I could easily give you a brutal death and you dare to laugh like that?" The pig annoyed the young man in front of him.
"It's said that laughing can increase your lifespan. I was just trying to extend my life a little. Don't you agree with me? Edward Morgan," Halton said in mockery, provoking Edward.
Edward immediately wanted to slaughter this pig, but only after getting the information he needed from him.
"I know you won't kill me that easily, I know exactly what you want from me" Edward raised a dubious left brow, looking suspiciously at the cunning pig.
"If you know what I want then tell me, Where is she?" asked Edward in a deep bone-chilling voice.
"In Boston, USA," Halton stood up. He scanned the room with his hawk-like eyes. He realised where the penetrating smell of rotting meat was coming from.
They were inside a slaughterhouse. They hung the meat of cows and pigs across the room in full display. He figured out why Edward chose this place.
He saw Halton as a pig, ought slaughtered and hanged like them. If it was any other person, they would have been already dead from a panic attack. Luckily for him, he had seen and gone through a lot worse than this.
While Halton was observing his surroundings Edward stared at him with suspicion and anger in his dark voids. He is that old man's most loyal pet.
How could he let out his granddaughter's whereabouts so nonchalantly while the old man was doing so much to hide her? Was he lying?
Halton fixed his belt and was ready to leave when the two men blocked him. Halton scratched his head in annoyance.
"Is there anything else you want from me?" He glared at Edward, who was behind the two men. The two men formed a wall between Halton and Edward, and they could only see each other's scorching glares.
"Do you know the consequences of lying to me?" Edward asked him in a deathly tone in his voice. His eyes darkened, creating an endless void of gloom.
Halton snorted at his question. If he wanted he could tear Edward into pieces but it wasn't his job to do so it was someone else's. He doesn't aim at someone else's prey.
"I can already see it," Halton said, pointing at the butchered meat hanging into a row. Edward had dragged him there to scare him but he was unfazed by it rather he found it funny at his naïve attempt to scare him.
He glanced at the wound in his lower abdomen where it was bleeding. He wanted it treated immediately, thinking of the pathogens that would invade his body in such a filthy place.
Even though Halton was already thirty years old, he behaved like a rebellious teenager.
He was brought up by a group of goons and was involved in many illegal things involving the underworld since he was young.
He had hideous scars and gunshot wounds on his muscular and toned body. His past life was never peaceful, not even once.
He had already witnessed so many miserable and brutal deaths that he was used to it. Fifteen years ago it was Benjamin Winchester who had saved him from that chaotic world and brought him back to life.
He expressed his gratitude towards him by vowing to be his most loyal servant and to serve him till death. Although Benjamin refused the offer yet he stubbornly insisted.
"I will let you go this time but if it turns out to be a lie I will be dragging you to hell next time" Edward threatened him in a deathly tone.
Halton chuckled at his naïve threat. He had already witnessed hell countless times. Hell was nothing to him.
"Only three people in the entire world know where she is. One is herself, Second her grandfather, the third is me.
It's up to you if you want to believe or not," He walked past the two men. He casually tucked his hands in his pockets and proceeded to the exit.
"So you realize that you are betraying the old man?" Edward was still doubtful at his words. It has been four years since he was looking for her.
He searched for her in many countries to find her, but all his efforts were in vain. He didn't find her. The old man had hidden her so well as if she had completely disappeared from this world.
Hearing those words, Halton shrugged his shoulders. He knew how much effort Benjamin had put in just to hide her from Edward. He knew she would return soon, so he had no reason to hide it.
And it will begin misleading Edward from his target, Halton smirked thinking about his plan. He casually waved at them without looking back. "adiós" with that, he left the slaughterhouse.
Alexandra was gazing at the beautiful garden through the large transparent window. She was deep in thoughts lost in her own world. She was ruminating about her grandfather's stimulating words. She was a coward. A coward for running away. A coward for not defending herself. A coward for allowing them to use her as they pleased. She thought running away would settle all the pains she had. What it gave her were nothing but horrid nightmares that haunts her every night. "Young Miss" Alexandra is suddenly woken up from her deep thoughts. She turned around to see a middle-aged woman. It was Martha. the housemaid. Seeing the beautiful woman before her Martha held her breath. The sun's golden rays gave her an ethereal glow. Her golden eyes shimmered like fairy dust.
After filling her stomach with the delicious breakfast prepared by Martha Alexandra let out a small burp. Alexandra covered her mouth slightly blushing blinking in her eyes looking down on her lap. Hearing her cute burp Martha chuckled. It was her first time seeing this side of her. She behaved like an adorable child. Before today she used to eat alone in her room. It was after two long weeks she had eaten anything 'good'. She missed Martha's home-cooked meals which were both delicious and nutritious. Her stomach was so satisfied that it had let out a burp just to appreciate Martha's food. "Thank you for the food," She said and strode upstairs to her room. She opened her closet, it was any girl's dream closet because it was spacio
Alexandra glared lividly at the sleeping man on the hospital bed. The man looked like a sleeping prince charming with his handsome face. She sat on a chair beside him. Her arms and legs were crossed and she had a grim expression on her face. She glanced at the clock it was already noon why hasn't this man woken up?The doctor told her to wait for the patient to wake up only then she could leave the hospital. It's not like she was his guardian or something. She didn't even know this man! Why must she waste her precious time on him? Her hunger didn't help either. She was getting hangry as the clock struck each passing minute. The man slowly lifted his eyelids revealing a pair of arctic blue eyes. Those ocean blue eyes could drown the hearts of many beauties. He momentarily blinked his eyes adjusting the light stinging his eyes.Confused. He looked around and saw Alexandra. He was awestruck by her beauty."Is this heaven why do I see an a
The room temperature dropped because of the brooding man, his eyes forming freezing glaciers to the point where cold sweats ran through Steve's spine. He begged God to send someone to save him. And the merciful God heard him, his phone buzzed from his pocket. He looked at the caller ID and he internally smirked. It was the patriarch of the Jonas family and Jonathan's grandfather Karl Jonas. If there is someone who could keep Jonathan on his toes it was this man.Jonathan did need to look at the phone to know who it was. He had a sour expression on his face. He gestured to Steve to bring them to him and like an obedient puppy, he ran and handed him the phone."Yes grandfather""You ungrateful son of a gun!" Jonathan was almo
Alexandra pounced on her king-sized bed after taking a quick shower like it was the best thing ever. She lay staring at the ceiling adorned with beautiful floral patterns in grey and white. Her room was blue, white-themed. Except for the ceiling each wall was decorated with wall painting all complex patterns and if you look closely you could discover a new meaning to it. It is made by an Eccedentesiast Artist who hides their pains with a smile. And the favourite part of her room was, of course, the balcony where she could admire the beautiful landscapes surrounding the villa. Her room had very large windows which were much larger than the doors. The glass was painted with several shades of glass paint. Her room was practically transparent from the outside because of the larg
Jonathan stared at the window of his private jet. The place looked tiny and he could get a clear view of the place altogether. He wondered where Alexa was currently living. He reluctantly agreed to go back to England because of his stubborn old man, and couldn't believe that he had to waste his million's worth of time courting a woman he didn't even know. He could use that time to look for Alexa, this failure chagrined him deeply. He was afraid that when he came back to the US, she would disappear without a trace. He was determined to kill the woman if that happens. There wasn't a single moment he hadn't thought about her since the time they met, utterly gorgonized by her."Wait for me my love I will come back to you I promise."----------------------------------------
She recalled the words her grandfather had said to her."Never love people more than what they deserve if you do then you are giving them the knife to stab you in the back."Those words sounded too harsh but it was the truth. The people she had blindly loved, and obeyed were the people who stabbed her in the back again and again until she had completely lost all the will to live on. Her sore, almost lifeless legs took her to the large mirror, the shattered pieces of glasses stabbing her delicate feet, bleeding it, and bloody footsteps trailed on the white floor, completely unfazed by the stinging wound. The woman before her was indeed beautiful beyond words. Eyes that seemed to be made from pure gold, her hair the darkest night, that face the finest specimen of art. She
After saying those words, Alexandra pushed him away and took a white towel from her pocket and wiped her hands. Although she had said it to insult him Halton didn't seem offended. He was more than willing to her dog if that's the last thing he can do to attain her forgiveness."I am willing to be your dog."Alexandra stopped wiping her hands and looked him in the eye. He had said this with an open heart and mind.Alexandra didn't say anything for a moment, she diverted her gaze from him and looked at the blue sky."Don't be ridiculous Halton, you are not even worthy to be my dog." Halton clenched his fists. Her words were the bitter truth that he was running away from.He had devoted half of his life to the Old Benjamin. After his death, Halton was no better than an abandoned dog. He was afraid that if Alexandra didn't accept him he might rot in grief and remorse."I know what you are feeling right no
One could hear in the bleak eerie hallways of the asylum the clattering of chains, as a man dragged it through the metallic floor. His black-and-white striped prisoner’s clothing had bloodstains on it. His pace was slow and wobbly because of the heavy chains attached to his legs and hands and bound skin rotting off along the rusting metal.“Sir, we brought him,” the guard said and looked keenly at the captive. He ducked his head, his lips drawn into a straight line, his eyes covered with his overgrown bangs so they could only see only the white portion of his eyes through it.“Good, bring him in.”The guard pushed open the interrogation room. A person inside could not see or listen to what was outside. The captive was silent the whole time, his eyes still down, looking at the guard’s legs as he followed and another guard closely stalking behind. In the middle of the dim room, there was a light bulb just above the wooden table, the only source of light in that entire room, with two cha
Their dilemma wasn’t over just yet. They had to gain the approval of one more person before their wedding ceremony, and that was Jonathan’s mother, Josephine.Alexandra insisted on building a better relationship with her upset mother-in-law. If Jonathan could impress her fearsome and bull-headed father, then she could coax Jonathan’s mother into accepting them too. Before their wedding takes place, she wanted everyone’s blessings. Including Josaphine’s and she would not shy away from appeasing Josaphine to gain her goodwill.***The place was the classic American home. A porch, a long veranda, high rooftops, and a yard that was big as a children’s park. It seemed like Josephine liked to keep the place uncomplicated and clean.Jonathan’s mother, according to his words, was the finest cook in the world. A woman who liked to do her own chores and leave them to the housekeeper. Who dressed simply, loved handling household affairs, and went to church religiously every single Sunday and pra
The soft silk sheets rustled as Alexandra stretched her arm to cuddle her husband. Her core was still sore from the slow-burning, passionate sex they had all night long. Letting out a groan, she buried her face into his neck which was specked with dark stubble. Oh, how she loved his beard. The rough texture was so satisfying to caress, and the feel of a stubbled cheek grazing her between her thighs was simply titillating. As she draped her long leg around his waist, a sharp, needle-like pain shot in her womb. She lifted the duvet and to her panic; she saw two blots of bloodstains on the sheets, mocking her. Her breath shriveled up in her throat and a malaise emerged in her womb.Swinging her legs to the floor, she rushed to the bathroom and removed her panties, and inserted her finger inside her, coating them with warm blood.“You will never be a mother.” The devil hissed, drawing out its forked tongue. “You will never get back what you’ve lost.”Her hand flew to her mouth to prevent
Sunrays poured through the tall windows of the church’s bridal suite, giving the white room a golden touch. The ladies were all busy tending to the bride’s wedding dress.Evangeline could barely breathe withch her bosom caged in the tight corset. “I will die.” She wheezed, holding on to the vanity table.“Oh, you won’t! I will see to it.” Catherine said, determined to make the dress fit. It seemed perfect when they tried it out in the bridal boutique.“I will become the first person to die for fashion.” Evan joked.Alexandra laughed, listening to this as she flipped a glossy page of a fashion magazine. She closed it and approached Evan to see what was going on with the dress.“I think it would be better if we pinned it first,” Alexandra suggested.“Pass me the pin, dear,” Catherine said, holding the edges of the corset tight.Alexandra skimmed through the small box of safety pins and passed it to her mother. Catherine pressed the ends of the corset securely and pinned them together. “
TRIGGER WARNING: The following chapter may be upsetting to some viewers. It contains violence and gore.***Blackness leaked into Gabriel’s subconscious like thick tar, impeding him from registering his surroundings for a few minutes. He blinked off the bleary vision and discovered himself in a bleak chamber, tied up in a metal chair with ropes that bit into his skin. The only source of light was the pale yellow lightbulb hanging above his head.He felt brainless, as one would get when drunk on spirit. He tried to recall where he was before ending up in this place. At the police station, the officers had locked him up for several days and questioned him for evidence. The trial was still ongoing, but an anonymous bailed him, giving the officers a hefty amount to free him. Gabriel didn’t know anyone who loved him so much to bail him out of jail, even after being aware of what evils he did. The moment he got out of the police station, a masked, who had bailed him asked to join him to me
The steel door shut before Anastasia with a rude screech and an ear-splitting rhythm of metal against metal, resounding around the cell walls and into her ears like pinballs. Anastasia gripped the metal bars and squeezed herself against it. “How long will I be here?” She asked.“Until someone comes in here and bails you.” The forty-something-year-old blonde officer sneered. She had confessed all of her crimes to the police this morning and stupidly thought they would let her go home. Home? Where will she go? Mama didn’t want her anymore. Papa will soon be prosecuted for all the crimes he had done in his lifetime.Kameron probably didn’t want her anymore, since their marriage was incomplete. Silvano was her only way out of here. She hoped he would come and free her.If he still loved her.“You smell like periods.”It was then Anastasia realized she wasn’t alone. A brunette prostitute, who was past her prime, hunched in the corner on the bench, covering her knees around her arms. She wr
All the guests who had witnessed the scene gasped in dread. Some of them, including Merideth Parker and Thomas Clarke, ran for their lives, realizing it wasn't safe to be in the presence of this maniac who just shot his wife. The metal gun slipped from Gabriel’s hand, his face sagged and his eye enlarged out of its sockets, seeing his wife bleeding on the floor. “C-Cathie…”His legs immediately took him towards Catherine, but Kameron lunged forward and boxed him in the face, knocking him to the ground and pinning him to the floor.Anastasia clung to her Catherine and cried helplessly, not knowing what to do. Alexandra stood there and stared expressionlessly at her mother, whose blood spilled out of her body. Catherine fluttered her eyes to keep them open. The tears in her eyes made those honey-brown irises shine like topaz as she gazed at Alexandra. If she was to die, she wanted to do it seeing her oldest daughter whom she had wronged all these years.Silvano came up to them and drop
Alexandra’s fierce, amber eyes bore right into Anastasia, who was on the verge of passing out from the built-up anxiety. Her weak knees buckled and she could barely pull herself together. The bouquet fell, the roses scattered, and she stared back at her sister in horror at what was yet to come.Placing a black-gloved hand on her chest, Alexandra put on an apologetic expression and swept her gaze over the audience. “My sincere apologies for the interruption, ladies and gentlemen.”Gabriel stood up and stalked towards her, his face heavy with anger. “What the hell are you doing here?!”“Can’t you tell? I was invited.” Alexandra lifted her chin, a gesture of disdain. The deep red shade on Gabriel’s face paled when he turned towards Kameron, who had a devilish smirk upon seeing Alexandra. “My heartily welcome, Lady Alexandra.” Kameron greeted. The audience broke out into a cacophony of mutters and whispers. They looked at each other with perplexed faces. What was going on here? And why di
“Looks like our beautiful bride is ready.” Kameron’s ridiculing voice broke Anastasia from her trance. She looked back at the woman in the mirror. Her doe-like brown eyes had turned red after she had mourned the night away. She had never shed a single tear for her grandfather’s death, but now misery had plagued her ability to realize the outcome of her past deeds. No one can escape fate. No one. “I am-,” Her voice had died out. She couldn’t ignore the pain in her throat. “Save that for the vows,” Kameron warned. He approached for a closer look at his bride, whose eyes were still glued to herself in the mirror. It was then he realized how beautiful she looked in the ivory white wedding dress. The makeup artist concealed all the wounds and bruises he had given her under that makeup. Her eyes seemed so clear and pure. She resembled Catherine physically, but her personality leans on the contrary. She wasn’t brave, nor had she had the unwavering disposition
