Borrowed Time

I looked at Melisa and saw her simple smile at me. I turned my gaze back to the child while he was hugging Killian.

"You are thinking wrong. Ibrahim is not his son, Dear Luna," she said with a smile.

"He is only recognized as the father of my child," she added.

I breathed a sigh of relief from what she told me. I thought that Killian was Ibrahim's father.

I smiled and approached Killian to thank him for saving me and killing that Rogue. Ibrahim can't be freed from the curse the older woman imposed on him because of him.

"Thank you so much for saving me," I said to him with a smile.

"You shouldn't be thankful because I should protect you," he answered.

I was silent momentarily at what he said while looking into his eyes. He immediately added what he said.

"You are my brother's Luna, so I should protect you," he added.

I don't know why what he said hurt me.
