"The Mountain Coast pack has sent someone to investigate. If we aren't careful, our secret would be ousted." Sarah informed them.

Since her last conversation with Damien, this was the first time they had contacted her. Probably to make her sweat. Not that she had minded. It had just given her more time to sort out the Ariana issue without their meddling.

"And your identity is secured?"

Of course, it was. Ariana had taken the bait so beautifully that even she was surprised. It had been two days since she left and the pack was relatively calm now. To her knowledge, Ariana had never gotten to speak with Breeana before she left.

Combined with the fact that the Elder council hadn't disclosed exactly where they were sending her to, there was no way for them to resolve their misunderstanding.

Ariana, the only person who could have disclosed her identity was gone and now, now she would play as she liked.

"Yes, my identity is secure."

"Then we will take care of this investigator."

The last thing anyone should talk about right after sex was pregnancy. Even if you and your partner were mated till death parted you. Not only was it a mood dampener but there were so many ways to take it. To read into it. It just wasn't said. Yet that was what had just fallen out of Breeana's lips. She felt Reece tense beneath her and for a second she worried.Did she want to have Reece's child?Hell yeah. Just thinking of a child that would share both of their characters and be a symbol of all they shared was more than enough to bring tears to Breeana's eyes. But she had to be pragmatic about this. She couldn't let her emotions rule her judgment.Deciding to remove children from their current future plans should have been a mutual decision from both parties but she had gone ahead to do it because of all the recent circumstances.Looking at Sarah, she had come to the realization that no matter how much the dream of being a mother mattered to her, this was the wrong time for it. She w

Reece's suit pinched and he sipped at his wine.He was at Enzo's, the spot he and Breeana had chosen for their dinner and ironically the same spot that Ariana and Breeana had gotten shot at. It was a solid fine dining place with the added plus of proximity to the pack. Plus it had private tables for couples.Reece had called her immediately after he was done with his work for the day and she'd told him that she would meet up with him.Apparently, the tea party had taken longer than anticipated -whatever that meant- so she still had to go to the hospital with her mom.Reece hadn't even known Martha Connor was ill and he was supposedly a part of the family. When he'd volunteered to tag along, Breeana declined. She said her mother hadn't gotten around to forgiving him about the whole Ariana situation especially now that she was gone.Besides, the diagnosis wasn't even out yet, she'd said, so it could be something minor and he would have troubled himself for nothing. That was two hours an

"The Silverwolf pack is behind the rogue attacks?"Reece could never have seen this coming. While Rita had always been outspoken and more than a little bit rude, he would never have thought she and Gilbert would orchestrate something like this."I am afraid so, Alpha." Allen bowed. He was being so formal because he was before the council. He would need to talk to him alone. And find out how his mission had treated him. But this questioning was a priority that could not be overlooked."We must take swift action, Alpha." Elder Elvis, ever the advocate of violence and extreme action, spoke.Reece was seriously tired of hearing that man's voice at this point."Which we will do after ascertaining all the details. Not a moment before. We can not just run off and make war with a reputable werewolf pack, who has bad blood with rogues.""Quite right, Alpha. Gamma Allen, surely you did not just come with words to sway us. You brought evidence to back up these claims, right?" Elder Asher said, l

Breeana couldn't believe that Javier was here. He should have been in the hospital in Spain saving lives not among the envoys sent to her pack to ascertain if Reece was lying or not.She suddenly realized that in the months since she had left Spain, she had totally forgotten about calling him to confirm that she had arrived safely or even texting him.It could have been because she had lost her luggage on the way back due to the call of the mate bond or because of the fact that he had just dropped out of her mind the moment she had seen Reece. To think that once she had thought that maybe, just maybe she could have a life with him after the bond between her and Reece was severed. Now she knew there had been no chance in hell of that happening and that she had been deceiving herself.Breeana stood frozen as the envoys approached. She noticed Javier look at her, his eyes widening ever so slightly in surprise. She saw him notice her hand in Reece's and their complementary dressing. It fe

Rhea heard her mother curse the Mountain Coast pack first in a slew of Spanish, then French, then finally English."That fat faced slut is behind this I can tell. When Reece brought her to the meeting, I could tell she was trouble. How dare they accuse us of consorting with rogues? The Silverwolf of all packs!"It was poor language for Luna Rita of the Silverwolf pack but then again the circumstances weren't the best either.Rhea knew what was coming next - her mother was like a broken record these days. The side comments about how perhaps if she had married into the Swift Wind pack, one of the strongest and most defensible packs, like her mother had wanted, none of this would have happened.Rhea tucked her deep burgundy hair behind her ear as her mind wandered. As for the first time in days, she considered the fact that her mother was right as she felt an unsettling feeling wash over her.Her mother was bothered about the blow their name would take for being associated with such a sc

Reece had been in the meeting for hours. At this rate, he would be late for the family dinner with Zinora's family. The envoys had first done a survey of the pack - whatever that meant, it wasn't like they explained their methods to him - and now they had been grilling him and the council on the smallest details of the attack and their investigation means. The only bright side about this was the fact that the elders were being grilled alongside him. He especially enjoyed seeing Elder Elvis scramble to answer Harry's rapid-fire questions.Javier sat somewhat quietly but his eyes seemed to catalogue everything that was being said and done in the council room.Truth be told, Reece wasn't jealous of him. He had no reason to be. Breeana was his mate and stayed in his bed. He almost smiled at the memory of the time they had spent together. However, he couldn't deny the urge to mark her so that Javier knew to keep his feelings to himself. She was his and his alone. It had felt so primal taki

The Werewolf Council summons came early in the morning almost a week after the departure of the envoys and sooner than anyone had expected."This is the first Werewolf council seating that the Mountain Coast will be seating in on. Naturally, the elders should have representatives accompany our Alpha and Luna."Breeana had zero doubts about the fact that Elder Elvis was planning to nominate himself for the trip. Naturally. The more times she sat in on elder meetings the more she was beginning to understand Reece's ever-increasing irritation towards the man. These meetings were an unfortunate aftereffect of picking up her slack as the Luna of the pack and she could swear that Elder Elvis gave her the evil eye every time she came in."There will be no need for that. Allen will be accompanying us as well. The pack will need the guidance of all the elders at this crucial time. The last thing we need to do is to leave the pack defenceless at this time."Reece sounded very matter of fact tha

If Ivy made them stop one more time, Breeana was going to throw her out of the car.She had gone over the journey plans with Allen and Reece. It was going to be a two-hour drive followed by a three-hour flight. It was going to be long but not too long. All the variables had been accounted for except perhaps Ivy.She had entered the same car as Reece, Breeana and Allen. Allen was driving and Reece sat in front next to him while she was stuck in the back with Ivy who acted like they were long-lost besties. If besties were nightmarish and came with a load of sass, insensitivity, and the most entitled form of bitchiness."Luna Breeana, how does the hunt for your sister go?"Breeana froze and the entire car went silent save for the music blaring from the stereo.Ivy kept talking as though she hadn't noticed the silence which was next to impossible at that point."Honestly, I have no idea why you bother. She brought her punishment upon herself. But I guess if you really want to, I can talk

Six Years Later"Can I take you to lunch?"Sarah threw a mean left hook that had Jared struggling to keep his balance. He always favoured his right a little bit too much."No.""Sarah…"She didn't let him continue before releasing a barrage of blows that got his head back into the fight and away from emotional talks. An hour later, she was walking out of the training centre with a bag slung over her shoulder after her shower."Sarah, please wait up."She didn't. She kept walking because she really didn't want to have this conversation. He easily caught up to her though with his long legs."So off to pick up Cole?"Sarah stopped walking."What do you want? Please speak directly."Jared looked at her with hurt brown eyes that eerily reminded her of Allen."I'm trying to have a conversation with you, Sarah.""And I'm trying not to. We train together. That's all.""It doesn't have to be. We can be friends–""I apologise for my mistake. I shall find another trainer." Sarah nodded brusquely

Breeana opened her eyes and nearly screamed.Reece. She had to get to Reece. But what could she do on her own?No, if there was one thing that Anya had thought of her it was that she needed backup. She knew that Reece and the others had a contingency plan where their forces could charge in and rescue them but that plan had relied on the use of their pack links. She didn't even know where the forces were situated. Reece hadn't told her and she hadn't thought to ask."What do I do? What should I do?"She paced the length of her room and then inspiration struck. Of course. How could she have forgotten?Sarah. She would know.*****"We need to get to them now."Sarah had known. She had known that something like this would happen. She had suspected it and now Allen was trapped in a room with Damien she would have felt fear if there was time.Every minute she dawdled was time that Allen couldn't afford especially with the vendetta that Damien had against him."I know where they are camped a

Breeana puked again and her belly contracted in response. She was in the bathroom for another hour or so before she felt strong enough to make her way out.She had woken up with morning sickness and by God, it wasn't what it was hyped up to be.She hadn't even been able to wish Reece goodbye properly and she knew that if the coronation hadn't been that day he would have stayed with her until she felt better. She was barely seated on her bed before she felt a tug on the bond. It wasn't unusual these days for her to feel that way but what made her pause was the fact that Reece was in a closed-door meeting with a cold-blooded murderer. Relaxing herself, she let herself drift until she connected with him and then she was…******"Today we are here for something momentous. Because for the first one in centuries, we will be welcoming in a monarch. Someone who will lead us through these dark abysmal times."Reece sat in his seat exchanging side glances with some of his allies. Adelaide looke

"You are asking me to stay behind?" Breeana glared at Reece, she couldn't believe that mere days ago she had cried and wished desperately that he would wake up.Now she felt the almost stifling urge to suffocate him. Ugh. He was so annoying and so obstinate that it was a marvel that they were still together.Truly."I just want you to stay safe while all this is going on." He leaned in and dropped a kiss on her forehead before touching her belly. "You and our child."Breeans pulled away before she would melt against his concern and sweet words the way she had been melting for the past few days since he woke up.Suffice to say that their fight had been long forgotten almost immediately after he woke up and she kissed him like the weirdo she was.No, Breeana do not think of kisses. She chided herself. Or of all the other things he had done to her and she had done to him."So I'm supposed to just sit in my hands while all the men I care about go off to fight a maniac? "You shacked up with a council member?"Breeana looked at Sarah shocked beyond belief.Sarah blushed. "I didn't know that at first."Breeana kept staring at her."And he's Cole's dad?""Yes."When Breeana had come to threaten Sarah to talk to her the last thing she had thought of was this.Sarah had taken one look at her thunderous expression and scented the blood on her before letting her in and telling her what had to be the surprising thing that Breeana had heard since the beginning of this fiasco."Bloody hell, does Allen know about this?" Was she the only one to be blindsided by all this?"I… I haven't gotten around to telling him I guess I just wanted it to go away." Sarah brushed her hair out of her face. "He's the only father that Cole will ever have. The only father I want my child to have. The ambush was quiet, this was their land after all. They knew every nook and cranny of it and more than that they were preternaturally quick and quiet. The hunters on the other hand were loud and clumsy in comparison. They must have thought they would take their pack the way they had taken the others. They were wrong. As the hunters sat around their campfire, discussing their strategy for the upcoming attack, they surrounded them."We enter from the north and–"Allen gave the signal and they attacked. The hunters quickly reached for their weapons, but they were too slow and the werewolves were too fast. They pounced on the hunters, their razor-sharp claws tearing through flesh and bone. The hunters fought back with guns and knives, but they were no match for the werewolves' supernatural strength and agility. The air was filled with the sound of snarling and screaming as the werewolves tore apart their prey. The hunters tried to retreat, but the werewolves were relentless, chasing the

Poison. The word resounded over and over in her head long after Reece had been wheeled into the ER.Someone had poisoned him.She felt a touch on her shoulder. It was Sarah."It's going to be fine, Bree." She comforted her, her voice low and compassionate.Only that was a farce, wasn't it?A terrible suspicion bloomed in her mind as she turned on Sarah. She had been there last night and suddenly Reece got poisoned. She didn't think it was a coincidence.Breeana gripped her by her throat watching her choke."It was you wasn't it?" Breeana squeezed harder, her vision going red. They had granted her mercy and she had gone and done this.Reece was… her mate was…. Just when she had wanted to give their relationship another shot. "We should just execute her and be done with it." Breeana said offhandedly and Reece stifled a laugh."Sure. Any more unreasonable requests you would like to add?"Breeana mock glared at him but a smile peeked through. She was surprised that they could even joke about this. The moment she had seen Ivy she had frozen thinking about the last time they had seen each other.Ivy didn't try to attack them or even struggle. She just turned herself in and allowed herself to be detained. Breeana and Reece had been shocked to hear that she had lost her pregnancy and that she was willing to sell her father and his moles in their pack out in exchange for her freedom."Why did you even bother coming back? You could have just stayed in Europe. There is no way we would have tracked you down." Breeana asked her still suspicious about her return and willingness.Ivy locked gazes with her.
