“Whoever you are, Ms. Yan, it's a common courtesy to knock before you enter.” Ashley stepped forward, folding her hands across her chest.

Estelle pursed her lips as she looked my friend up and down. “And you are?”

“Ashley Farnell,” she said, her chin inching up.
