Charlotte's pov

It was clear that my heart had fully decided to be with Tyler. Life is short, and love is both sweet and necessary. Tyler had promised to keep our relationship a secret. When he asked me about Paul, I couldn't help but open up to him.

"Paul and I were friends back in college, and he has been asking me out," I said. He pulled me closer, and whenever Tyler pressed his waist against mine, I felt confused. It was as if his touch had control over my thoughts and feelings.

"Tyler, there's no one like you. I've never loved anyone the way I love you. Whenever I see you or hear your voice, my whole body gravitates towards you. I..." My words were interrupted as he placed his lips on mine, and we started kissing. My eyes closed instinctively, and I felt myself becoming aroused once again.

Is this the man Blenda never appreciated? No one can resist his touch and the way he kisses. Then my phone rang again, and this time it was Paul calling. The more he called, the further

Charlotte's pov What have I done? I told myself to call Sara. As I continued to blame myself, my phone rang again, and it was Sara calling me. No, I can't answer the call. I've only added more fuel to the fire in Paul's household. All I wanted was to bring peace, but now I realize I was being presumptuous. If they weren't meant to stay together, why did I try to make them? Paul had already told me that Sara was seeing someone else, which should have been enough to end their marriage. The call ended, and before I could take a breath of relief, my phone rang once more. This was a serious situation. It was a good decision not to answer Sara's call again. I knew Paul would be there, and if I picked up, what would I even say? Who told me to interfere in the first place? The call ended, but she kept calling. I had no choice but to switch off my phone after the third call, and finally, my room fell silent without the constant ringing. Switching off the phone hadn't solved anything yet,

Charlotte's pov Why would Paul want to do such a sneaky thing to me? Why does he want to deceive me and sleep with me in the first place? It was so surprising when I refused, and Sam had no choice but to come clean when I refused to tell Sara what he had initially told me. Why does he expect me to tell Sara that I was going after her husband when in our conversation I didn't mention anything like that? It felt like negotiating a life-or-death deal, and Sam really wanted to help his friend. Then I told Sam, "If you want me to say such a thing, tell Paul to call me." "Paul is currently at an important company presentation." "If Paul can't call me, I don't think I can do what you're asking me to do. Why would Paul be so cruel? He's taken on more than he can handle. If he wants to save his family, then he should be the one to call me, not you," I ended the call. I'm grateful I made the right choice. I almost accepted Paul's advances because I had some feelings for him. But out o

Author's pov "What would have happened to me yesterday if Tyler wasn't at home?" Charlotte pondered as she took her bath. The water from the shower flowed as she used both hands to wash away the foamy suds from her body. Her mind was completely absorbed in the events that took place many hours ago with Eric. "Was it because he couldn't control himself? Has he never seen nipples before?" Charlotte reflected. "I know I wasn't wearing a bra, and the gown I had on was lightweight. If it wasn't for Tyler, his younger brother might have assaulted me. That's why I'll always love Tyler. He came at the right time and he protected me." As Charlotte reduced the flow of the shower, she neared the end of her bath when a new thought struck her. "Why didn't I tell Ava?" She stood still, her eyes wandering, before stepping out of the bathroom. Naked, she didn't bother wrapping herself in a towel, her mind still searching for an answer to her thoughts. "Hmm... There was no need to tell Ava,

Author's pov "Ava, do you think I'm blind? Do you think I can't tell when two people are flirting? I saw your dad and your best friend, Charlotte, at the bar, laughing uncontrollably," Brenda said, as they sat in the living room. She paused, keeping her gaze fixed on Ava. "I..." "Don't say anything. You're making me angry," Brenda interrupted. "But you haven't let me say anything again," Ava protested. "I don't want you to say anything anymore," Brenda said, and walked towards her room angrily. "What did I do now?" Ava wondered, still confused by her mother's anger. "I only suggested that if you were sure they were behaving the way you suspected, you should have approached them and let them know you saw them. My point is, why can't my mum approach them? Instead of just standing at a distance and accusing Charlotte and my dad. She didn't even give me a chance to explain. Just because she has feelings for my dad doesn't mean any woman with him is involved romantically. How

Charlotte's pov One thing I never wanted to happen was for Ava to find out about my affair with her dad. It's crazy—I can't leave him, and I don't want anyone else to know. Is this normal? Love is supposed to be something others can see and appreciate. When I was dating Harry, everyone in the neighborhood and school knew about it because we were seen together in public, and I thought everything was fine. But when I accidentally met Tyler at the hotel, he became the nicest person I had ever encountered. And out of the blue, he had to be my best friend's dad. I can't leave him right now. My whole being would never forgive me. I've never loved someone so certain that they would leave me. It felt like jumping into cold and hot water yesterday when Ava told me she wouldn't be able to come and pick me up to go to her mum's place. The reason being that her mum saw Tyler and me giggling. How could I stop giggling when Tyler was being so fun? Thanks to Ava, who stood by me and tried to cl

Author's pov Danielle was lying down, looking up at the ceiling in her room, and the room was completely quiet. She thought to herself, "What have I done to Luke that he's intentionally abandoned me? It is not days, not weeks, now it's going to be months that he is abandoning me. I've tried everything to reach out to him, but all I've gotten are one form of excuses or the other. This isn't the Luke I knew. He didn't come to me and say he's no longer interested..." Then her phone rang. She sat up, put her feet on the floor, and answered the call. "Hi Blenda..." "Are you sleeping?" Blenda said as she noticed the low voice of Danielle like one waking up from sleep. "No, I was just lying down," she replied. "I hope you're still coming to the housewarming party?" "Well... um, I will." "Are you not sure? You and my daughter are the reason I'm going. As for Tyler, I have no feelings for him anymore. I've decided to leave him. • Resisting My Best Friend's Dad    How can I respond to her?

Author's pov "This isn't the way I wanted Danielle to find out about my new relationship with her friend," he thought as he stood in front of Danielle, sweating and still holding his phone. Unbeknownst to Luke, Danielle didn't display any signs of anxiety. She was simply trying to quickly give the phone to Luke before the call would end and casually find out who was calling. Luke couldn't say a word. Instead, he took the phone from her but didn't answer the call in her presence. He took the phone and went into the bathroom. "Why can't he answer his call in front of me? What is he trying to hide?" she thought, but she had already made the greatest mistake of not properly checking who the caller was. She walked closer to the bathroom to see if Luke was carefully answering his call. She placed her ear close to the bathroom door and noticed that it was very quiet and Luke wasn't speaking to anybody. "Hmmm... maybe it's just an ordinary call," she thought and returned to the bed,

Charlotte's pov This seemed too good to be true. Eric's recent behavior has placed him in a position where I will always be afraid of him. "Is this not the Eric I knew?" I asked myself as I considered leaving the car. Suddenly, his voice softened as he changed his tone. "Charlotte, I'm not here to harm you. I'm here to apologize for the terrible impression I made of myself. I'm truly sorry for the way I acted when I came to your house. It was the worst thing I've ever done to someone, especially you." The more he tried to please me, the more I felt that Ava had made a terrible mistake. This felt like forced begging. I didn't have a choice but to politely nod my head as if I had accepted. The more I pretended to support him, the more I saw relief on his face. Who wouldn't want to pretend to have accepted what Eric said in such a condition? My heart was in my hands, and deep down, I planned to tell Ava at the party and express my displeasure of how she didn't inform me that Er

  • Resisting My Best Friend's Dad    Happy ending

Author’s pov Taylor was very anxious and he was very uncomfortable as things were going. This wasn't what he and Gabriel and the nurse they had already paid had planned. The high ranking doctor wasn't around and no one could administer any drug to Larisa without his approval. When the time was 4pm, Taylor took Gabriel for the third time and they went out. “What's happening? I'm running out of patience. This is not what we planned. Larisa and the baby are doing fine. What are you waiting for?” “I don't think we can do anything now. I guess it will be tomorrow.” “Tomorrow? I overheard the doctor saying that she is strong and she can go home tomorrow. Is this what we planned?” Taylor asked. “Why can't we give her the drug in your house? It will be very easy that time. The nurse we are using will be the one to administer it.” “I am getting the feeling that something is going wrong somewhere.” Taylor said. “Don't have that thinking.” “Why will I not have that thinking? Author's pov It’s now nine months later and Larisa had started sensing the sign of giving birth and it started very early in the morning. Then Dylan got up from the bed. “We need to go back to your city.” “Then call your brother that we are coming.”Dylan immediately called Taylor and informed him of their coming. Before now, Taylor had begged Dylan to bring Larisa so that he could sign the birth certificate after she delivers. About two hours after Taylor had finished talking to Dylan, he quickly called Gabriel's phone number."HelloGabriel, the time has come. Larisa is finally coming, but there is a littleproblem." "What's the problem?" Gabriel askedas he sensed Taylor's panic. "I guess Larisa is in labor." "How do you know?" Gabriel asked. "Dylan called me and told me to collect to the airport with an ambulance. It's obvious. What if she gives birth at the plane or airport? Larisa has killed me. The thought out plan is about to be ruined." Taylor and his friend,

Larisa's pov Why wouldn't I continue to love Dylan? Initially, I had my doubts about whether he would accept what I had to tell him. Deep down, it was a test, and he didn't know that I was about to judge him based on his response. From what I gathered from Dylan's parents, he didn't like visiting his hometown. And after he shared with me what Taylor had done to him, I understood why he rarely went there. But because of the love he had for me, he had decided to accompany me to Taylor's house when it’s due for me to give birth. I still remember when Dylan took his phone and called Taylor, saying, "Hi Taylor, I have seen Larisa..." "That's wonderful," Taylor sounded genuinely excited, and Dylan put his phone on speaker mode so that I could hear their conversation clearly. "But she mentioned something that makes it difficult for her to come." "What's that?" Taylor asked eagerly. "She said she can't come alone to your house. Why is she so afraid? Have you ever hit her whe

  • Resisting My Best Friend's Dad    Dylan once loved someone

Larisa’s pov It's been eight hours since Dylan told me about his relationship with Tessy. Now I understand why Dylan hesitated to pursue me, even though he had feelings for me. He was afraid it would seem like payback if he chose me. I can see his concerns clearly. It doesn't mean he doesn't love me, but it would appear calculated and vengeful. If I were the judge in his case with Taylor, I would say Taylor deserves the payback. Why would he act so wickedly? Jealousy! But it's not anyone's fault if he couldn't treat a woman well. Right now, I can't stay with Taylor anymore. It's like those girls he dated who ended the relationship and ran away. It also justifies my decision to escape from his manipulative hostility. As I continued to reflect on every word Dylan said and compared it to his and Taylor's past, I noticed a clear contrast. I couldn't sit on my bed any longer, analyzing my thoughts. My feet urged me to move around the house. Dylan had left for an important appointment,

Dyan’s pov The next day, by coincidence, I called Tessy in the morning and asked her to come to my place at 5 pm. This happened without Taylor's knowledge. However, it sparked Tessy's desire to meet Taylor at the bar at 4 pm, and she kept it a secret from me.At 3:30 pm, Taylor got ready, took a shower, and dressed nicely. As he was about to leave the house, I jokingly said, "Looks like you found someone new." He smiled at me and left in his car. Our dad was wealthy and made sure we had everything we needed.Because Tessy was eager, she arrived at Keans bar before Taylor, who was driving. Taylor called Tessy from his car, asking, "Where are you?" "I'm already inside the bar," she replied. "Please come out," he said when he spotted someone he knew, and that person also knew Tessy as my girlfriend.Tessy came out, wearing a brown dress with black dots on the front. When she saw Taylor's car, she walked closer to it. "Get inside. Come inside," he said quickly, opening the car doo

  • Resisting My Best Friend's Dad    How it happened

Dylan’s pov "Quit being envious of what your brother has..." These were the words spoken by my mother when Taylor and I were still very young. She was talking to Taylor, and as a mother, she had noticed our contrasting personalities. She observed that whatever belonged to me always caught Taylor's attention. Taylor was never content with his own possessions and often neglected to take care of them. When we were kids, Taylor had a strong, muscular physique, which gave him an advantage over me when it came to forcefully claiming ownership. In the absence of our parents, he would become domineering, and I would quickly give up what was mine to avoid any physical confrontation. At first, I thought this was normal, but as we entered our teenage years, I realized it was escalating. It felt like I was living in bondage, where the only way to escape was by willingly giving away what was rightfully mine. When our parents were around, he would behave appropriately, and everything I had woul

  • Resisting My Best Friend's Dad    Is Tessy your girlfriend?

Author's pov "It's not about whether I read the text, but it's the content of the text and the urgency to talk to you. She called you ten times. I saw her myself. I was the one who opened the door for her when she came to your parents' house when your mom invited me. Your mum even wanted us to get to know each other. She introduced her as your girlfriend and introduced me as Taylor's girlfriend." Larisa paused and looked at Dylan. "Aren't you going to say anything?" she asked. "You've been the one talking," he responded. "Okay, let me ask you the question again. Who is Tessy?"Dylan let out a big sigh and tried to stomp his foot on the floor. "My love, this isn't the right time to tell you about her. It's too early. It's only the second day of your stay here..." "Are you hiding something from me? Don't you know that as women, we don't like secrets in a relationship? We want to know everything about our partner. It gives us a sense of security. Let's be honest with each oth

Author’s pov Dylan was still taken aback by Taylor's sudden appearance and didn't have a moment to go inside and inform Larisa. He tried to gather himself and opened the door, allowing Taylor to enter, assuming Larisa hadn't heard them. "How did you manage to get to New York so early?" Dylan kept his gaze fixed on Taylor as he took a seat on the chair to the right. "Excuse me, let me change my clothes," Dylan quickly said, leaving the living room and heading inside, where he spotted Larisa standing near the door, eavesdropping. "How did he find out I was in New York?" Larisa whispered, her voice hushed. "I don't know, he must have taken the night flight. Stay calm, stay here. Let me go and talk to him. I came here to inform you," Dylan replied, forgetting to change out of his nightwear. His primary intention was to let Larisa know that his brother was around, unaware that she had overheard their conversation. When Dylan returned to the living room, still clad in his nightgow

Larisa’s pov There's no greater feeling than knowing that the mission you're about to take will lead you to see the most enchanting person in your life. That's exactly how I felt when I left Taylor's parents' house, pretending I was going to a nearby grocery store to pick up a few things. The escape was smooth, and neither Tyler nor Charlotte suspected a thing. They trusted me and didn't feel the need to accompany me. What should have been just an hour or two journey took me far away. Dyan had already booked a flight for me. All I had to do was leave the house and make my way to the airport. It was as simple as that. Out of love and affection, I left my clothes and bag behind, not wanting to leave any traces of my departure. What can compare to the bliss of love and laughter? Nothing! Not even the expensive clothes Taylor bought for me. Material possessions can be replaced anytime, but my love for Dyan is irreplaceable.
