Serafina thinks back to her encounter with Matthias again, and it haunts her thoughts. She had advised herself never to entertain any thoughts about him after knowing his relationship with Grand Healer’s Hart’s daughter, but after he promised to talk to Damon, and plead for a reduction in her sentence, she felt confused on what to feel for him.

“Why would you help me?” She asked him, curious and desperate as she questioned his motives.

“Because you are my mate.” His response had sent a shiver down her spine.

“You said I'm dead to you. Why don't you just go to your pack and forget about me?”
