Deirdre was taken aback. She hadn't thought of this outcome before.

"How could you not remember how much you drank?" she asked.

Brendan closed his eyes, furrowed his brows, and struggled with the memory.

"I-I'm not sure," he replied.

Deirdre heard his confusion and soothingly placed her fingers on his arm. "It's okay. If you really drank too much, it's possible to forget how much you had."

"Sorry," Brendan apologized.

Brendan leaned in to kiss Deirdre's soft lips.

She shook her head, indicating that he didn't need to apologize, but her expression remained serious.

"After what happened today, I still hope you'll pay more attention to Emily," she said.

Deirdre couldn't quite put her finger on it, but Emily gave her an uneasy feeling. And since Emily was fond of Brendan, she might do some crazy things to get him.

"You don't like her?" asked Brendan.

"Yes, I don't like her. If it weren't because my eyes need treatment, I would have wanted her to leave right away," replied Deirdr

Does this book have an end? We are over 1,000 chapters and no end in sight. Not to mention, the chapters lately seem to be very short with little substance to them.
