Everyone within a few mile’s radius from Genesis had felt the shift that night. Isadora felt it too, while she lay in bed with Eutychus. Her wish had been granted and her things were ferried into Eutychus’ room the very next day. It had signified the beginning of their relationship. While the things were being moved around, Eutychus was closed off in his office, preparing for the Council meeting that was now mere hours away.
She had taken that time to remove every trace of Regina from the bathroom and basically everywhere she came across. In the end the stuff was put in a box, ready to be sent back to the owner, or burnt.
After dinner, she went back to their room, showered and got in bed, anticipating another steamy night. Given that the full moon was still in effect, her pheromones were getting all over the place. Eutychus eventually got back to their room and he slipped out of his clothes only to put on his trainers.
Evething that Isadora had ever wanted was practically before her, and yet, that dull ache in her chest did not go away. What more could she possibly want as a recessive omega it was a literal iracle that she had gotten this far but still.“Our Mating union will take place during the next blood moon, thank you for your time.” Eutychus carried on before they both sat down, Eutychus still holding her hand.“Congratulations Luna, although you should be thanking me.” Darrian whispered loud enough that Isadora was sure Eutychus could hear.“Can it , Darrian.” Isadora said through her gritted teeth she did not need to be reminded of their sordid past if at all they had one. She felt movement under the table and then the tip of a shoe ran up and down her foot, her left foot. Darrian’s foot. Isadora did not dare look down or even acknowledge it, instead she folded her leg
The council’s reaction to Alaric’s pack was just as he had been told it would be. Pure hate and rage that radiated from the council members would have shaken him if he wasn’t an alpha, and mostly used to receiving this kind of hate. From the moment they had driven up to the venue, it had been glares and sneers.he Wasn’t sure what he expected upon seeing his father and half-brother. It wasn’t the first time they would be in a room together since he was ungraciously kicked out. Deep down he wanted to tell his father, “I have my own pack, are you proud now?”Those were words that could never leave his lips, not even on his deathbed. Instead, he remained steadfast in his quest to make his pack known, to free himself and his pack from the greedy jaws of his former home. When it was time for him to finally speak, Alaric had mentally erased all traces of doubt that he Had initially and proudly introduced his pack, ignoring the eyes that never left him all through the speech. Instead, he f
While the couple enjoyed their risque moves, Darrian was seething in his car as he followed his new alpha. He was trying his best to wrap up his mind around the events of the day and most importantly, how he hadn't seen it coming. “I can't believe she chose to be his Mate! I- Mark? ” Darrian practically growled at his driver/ right-hand man. “Yes, sir,” Mark replied, not once peeling his eyes from the road ahead, he knew what was coming next. “Why did I not know of Alaric’s Pack business? No scratch that, when were you going to inform me of Dianne? What really is your job? Why do I pay you?” Darrian angrily ranted. Of all the things that had taken place that day he was mostly puzzled and greatly angered over the fact that his future mate, his perfect pick was now hitched to some random rogue. He needed something to be clear. There had to be a good reason as to why things weren't going his way. “Sir, nobody knew about young Miss Reeves’ affair with the rogue alpha, they have never
Alaric and his team practically sped out of Nightfall’s territories. One, because it felt like they were on hostile territory and second, Alaric wanted to show off his newborn pack to Dianne and her parents. He hadn't expected the meeting to be rosy or anything but the support from Dianne’s mother had felt so good. to know that there was someone out there rooting for him, someone who had some power in a rather powerful pack, he wanted nothing more than to make them proud. Of course there was another reason why Alaric saw it best to zoom out of the hall and back to his territory.“I thought that I would have to go berserk for a second there.” Kierran spoke on the passenger seat next to him. Behind him was Dianne and Patrick. Sammy and the elder rode with Dianne’s parents.“You and I both. Ugh! To think I would have been mated to that snob Darrian. But the look on their faces though, ahhh that was worth it.'' Dianne pipped in and Alaric did his best to not really react. Hearing Darrian’
Eutychus' office was starting to get stuffy with all the tension. Darrian had to think fast, one wrong answer and his plan would be thwarted. Lucky for him he had the perfect culprit for his crime. “What are you talking about? What reason would I have to forge your signature?” Darrian answered, hoping his face was expressionless, contrary to the nervousness in his stomach.“Don't play stupid, isn't this your invoice? why would the Pack’s treasury fund- ” Eutychus was getting enraged. It was enough that the day was already ruined and now his beta was getting smart?“ Cas, do you think we are that close that I would have the skill and need to forge your signature? and why would I forge the signature for something as trivial as Pack funds? I am your beta, these are privileges I get automatically.” Darrian replied, thanking the moon deities he had his expressions in check.“I don't remember signing off on this and Dora mentioned there were missing funds.” Eutychus seemed confused, now t
Alaric and his council- friends rather- arrived first at the casino. They went straight for the conference room that Ceann had miraculously prepared. Water and other refreshments were set aside and a cushioned chair next to the window but not so far from Alaric’s designated seat was also available, a different set of refreshments next to it. Kieran was in his usual jovial mood as they walked in the large room.“Do you think Darrian will have a fit once he finds out this is our Casino?” He asked, a smile planted on his face. It was like he lived to torment Darrian, seeing as he couldn't just sock him in the face.“He is not the one we should think about, Eutychus will surely have a fit and Alpha Finnian... We’ll just wait and see.” Alaric replied and they took their seats.Sammy arrived a few minutes later with Patrick carrying some folders with them. He was blessed to have a sharp council, if he could put it lightly. These were his friends who had blindly and without question followe
Dianne wasn't sure how to answer Alaric. To out right come out and say they may have stumbled upon a couples quarrel wasn't going to cut it.“ I will fill you in later. I am surprised there wasn't any bloodshed in the conference room.” Dianne deflected, choosing to steer Alaric’s mind away from her and Isadora. She couldn't quite pinpoint it but there was something going on between them. if that was the case...“What do you mean?” Luckily Alaric changed the topic.“The pheromones... our guards were pretty much on the brink of letting loose. even my mom was feeling tense when we drove up to the casino. dont get me started on how this floor reeked of carnage.” Dianne said, exaggerating the words she could, it made Alaric chuckle.“It couldn't have been that bad. As usual, Kierran was ready to rip both Eutychus and Darrian a new one. I regret stopping him but I wasn't in the mood for a brawl. ” Alaric said, sneaking a few bites from the bowl Dianne was eating from, this move however, h
The last few days had proven hectic for Isadora. They had finally arrived for her official union with Eutychus as his mate and Luna of the Nightfall pack. Just as Finnian had said, the elders had been incharge of everything ceremony related. From the venue set up to security outside. With no other family member but her father, she was with the lovely company of the maids that worked in the Alpha’s residence. She was pampered in all the ways she could think of , almost to the point of getting fed. Her father had gotten her the most exquisite dress and was perhaps the best thing about this whole arrangement. “ I can't believe this day has arrived, my only daughter is about to become a luna. We should thank your mother. ” Mr. Smith had said as he watched his daughter getting help with the dress. “Aren't you supposed to be crying? Won't you miss me? ” Isadora joked. “I should be asking you that, as a Luna, you will be too busy for mere peasants like me.” Her father replied with a blind
It truly was the manifestation of rejection's Ire and desire's flame as Nightfall fell under a dark cloud. Darrian's reign of terror had begun to truly manifest. Pack members suspected of treason, harbouring rogues or anything that did not go according to Darrian’s regime, vanished without a trace and were replaced by Darrian's loyalists. Fear and suspicion choked the once vibrant pack. Those who had fallen for his smooth speech of wanting to protect what was theirs, now wondered if perhaps they had made the wrong choice, but they couldn't air out these suspicions, not if they wanted to go missing. Meanwhile, Isadora languished in her gilded cage, for she was nothing more than a caged wolf, waiting for her master to choose her fate. The luxurious room felt like a prison, the bars forged from Darrian's cruelty. Regina, his ever-present shadow, taunted Isadora with tales of Eutychus' "weakness" and the impending glory of Darrian's new era. She had always hated Isadora and given their p
Alaric couldn't take his eyes off the baby in his arms. As soon as his daughter was placed in his arms, he had become a new person, no. The moment he heard her cry, something in him changed. The risks he was willing to take to protect his Pack were nothing compared to the absolution and conviction to protect his daughter. There was literally nothing he couldnt do for her and that thought scared him. He went back to the conversation he had with Kierran and realized that if anyone or anything threatened his little girl, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to ensure her safety. Nothing at all. “What will you name her?” Dianne whispered, too tired from the whole birth ordeal, for a second there, Alaric was scared she wouldn't be able to pull through. “Asa, that is the first thing that came to my mind when I heard her scream. Pick her second name. ” Alaric said, moving closer to Dianne so she could be closer to their pup. “ Wilde…. Asa Wilde. Because she will be the one to heal us all”
Alaric paced restlessly along the Genesis border, the whimper from a suffering wolf a constant thorn in his side. He focused, pushing his senses further, the fragmented images that returned painting a horrifying picture. Someone was calling out to him. Suddenly, Kierran burst into the clearing, his face pale and etched with worry. "Alpha, we have some news… bad news." Alaric's heart plummeted. His mind raced to Dianne, his mate, and their unborn child. Had something happened to them?"What is it, Kierran?" Alaric's voice was a low growl as he started walking towards his home. “Fuck! ”Kierran took a deep breath. “It's Nightfall, Alpha. Darrian… he's overthrown Eutychus and their Luna … she's been captured.”A wave of anger crashed over Alaric. The ambition that burned within Darrian had always been a threat, but this blatant betrayal transcended Pack politics. It threatened the fragile peace between Genesis and Nightfall, a peace Alaric had strived so hard to maintain. But amidst the
Isadora awoke to a suffocating darkness. Panic clawed at her throat as she realized her eyes were bound with a rough cloth. Disoriented and bound to the bed, she tried to piece together the fragmented memories of her day meeting with Genesis Pack Luna. She tried releasing her claws in a half shift, anything that would assist her in setting herself free from the bindings and blindfolds. A sharp laugh sliced through the silence. "Finally awake, Sleeping Beauty?" The voice, laced with venomous amusement, sent a shiver down Isadora's spine. The blindfold muffled her vision, but she could sense someone approaching. "Who's there?" she demanded, her voice trembling slightly."Oh, don't worry, Luna," a voice dripping with sarcasm replied. "It's just Regina, here to welcome you to your new… accommodations as per Alpha Darrian’s request of course." Isadora's breath hitched. Regina, a constant thorn in her side. What did she have to do with this? She felt Regina approach, and seconds later the
Things in Nightfall were changing slowly under everyone's nose rather, people couldn't tell the shift in power within their pack. One night, the pack's enforcers were doing their regular patrols along the pack borders and the next, they were surrounding the Alpha’s residence, no one could tell whether it was for protection or assault. Another group of enforcers surrounded the council hall, with all the important members of the pack in it. “What is the meaning of this, Darrian, care to explain why was- ” an elder, angry and almost red in the face spat but he was pushed back to his chair forcefully. “I don't recall asking you to speak. '' Darrian sneered at the elder as he moved up to the Alpha’s designated seat, taking his time to look at the shocked faces of those in attendance. Once satisfied, he pulled out a wad of papers from his suitcase with the Alpha's seal. He put the items on top of the conference table and yet again let his eyes wander around the room. “Ladies and gentlem
“Did he admit? ” Dianne asked Alaric when the nightfall Luna had left. “Yes and no. Darrian claims that he did it under Eutychus’ orders. I didn’t believe him. My Half brother may be arrogant but never this stupid. Something is off.” Alaric said he couldn't shake off the daunting feeling he felt when they were in the office with Darrian. He was impressed with how Kieran had managed to keep his emotions in check and hadn't jumped on Darrian as soon as he walked through the Pack borders. “So where do we stand? You know I will support you through whatever you choose.” Dianne said, standing up to stretch a little. “It will depend on how they take my message from today's meeting. This isn't really about the assets my mother left me. It's more of control and power. Eutychus feels threatened, and I am not about to sit and let him think he can walk all over us.” Alaric said. “Oh I just wish they would try us… it's been a minute since I-” Kierran stopped himself from finishing the sentence
Isadora Saying those words out loud felt foreign to her. It's not like she had never thought about them but rather that was all they were supposed to be, meaningless thoughts. And now Darrian, the man at the center of it all, had made her speak those words, giving them life and truth… desire even. She looked away from Darrian’s almost silver eyes and focused back on staring outside the window. The trees were more interesting than this conversation. ‘Why in the blue moon did I call him mate?’ Isadora chastised herself as the car ride proceeded with no response from Darrian. “What if, I could give you - ” Darrian seemed to have found his voice but Isadora couldn't let him finish. Dreams were one thing, but promises?“This is not the time for ‘what ifs’ Darrian. You rejected me and I chose Eutychus. I am your Luna and you serve me as my Beta. We made our choices.” Isadora replied. There was nothing Darrian could give her right now other than his loyalty as her Beta. Darrian did not sa
Today was one of those days Darrian hated the most. They had a briefing right before lunch and after that he and Eutychus would be heading to the casino for business. He sat in the large conference room and waited for Eutychus to arrive. Isadora always came in later. However, this time it was she that arrived first and took the usual seat, one that was away from both he and Cas. “Afternoon, Dora.” Darrian cleared his throat and said his greetings. “Afternoon. ” she gave her single worded response, Darrian hated it. He wanted to hear her speak, laugh get angry or even release that intoxicating scent. “Are you guys still having your couples fight? Whatever it was about, deal with it quickly, your brooding attitude is suffocating.” Darrian said the only thing that came to his mind, hoping to rile her up and get some kind of reaction from her. “I don't see how that is any of your business. '' she glanced up from her tablet and fixed her gaze on him, just like he had anticipated. “Whe
To say Darrian had fucked up would be an understatement. He may have just started a war between Nightfall and Genesis packs. Alaric’s pack may have been in its infancy stage but the power they held was enough to make him worry. He sprinted back to Nightfall's territory, using a back route that had a stream. He bent down and washed the sweat off his skin and the remainder of the scent blocker he had on. He found his car where he had parked it and drove back to the ceremony. He would use the time to come up with an excuse because he would be getting questions since he had missed a bigger part of the ceremony. He couldn't erase Leo’s petrified look from his mind, the way he had begged for his life and how mercilessly he had been knocked out. There was no telling what the future for Leo was but Darrian knew he would be tied to him. It wouldn't be long before Alaric would seek vengeance and he would. He pulled up at the pack gates and drove straight for the ceremony. He could still hear t
