Alaric is a hybrid Alpha- A Lycan wolf, born from a Pack that rejected him for being different. It wasnt his fault that He was a wolf with mixed genetics from different subspecies of wolves ,yet his father had falsely accused his mother of infidelity, and when Alaric's wolf presented as a Lycan, he was cast out of the Pack immediately. He found solace among the local rogue wolves, who had chosen to reject Pack rules and live outside of the Pack’s conventions that mostly shunned anything different especially Lycans.
Despite the scorn of his father and the wider wolf community, Alaric worked hard to make a name for himself. He rallied the rogues that he had fought with countless times as he tried to survive alone. Luck was on his side since his hybrid nature came in handy whenever he had to fight for whatever he wanted. At first, he felt lost and angry at just 21 he had no one to rely on. The first few months were brutal and when winter rolled in, he knew the streets were not for the weak.
Fueled by a desire for vengeance and survival instincts, he vowed to prove himself to his father and take revenge for his banishment and his mother's death. He became resilient, determined, and hardworking, despite the prejudice and discrimination he faced from literally every wolf that could smell the streets on him. But it did not wear him down, he needed to be someone his father and the Pack wouldn't discriminate against.
“Why don't we just leave, it's clear they have it out for us.”His closest friend had suggested one day when his garage had been vandalized.
“Only weak wolves run away, we both know I am not weak. Round up the boys, we have Scrubbing to do. ”Alaric had replied, his eyes twitching with anger. The vandalism wasnt because of his rogue nature, this was done by his competitors. At first, he thought the vandalism would stop if he chose to be the bigger person and ignore them, but that was just a far cry from the truth.
Over the years, they attacked his boys, framed them for shit they dint do and he had spent more money bailing his brothers out and rebuilding the auto shops that he almost, the key word being almost, gave it all up and moved as far as he could. Instead, he decided to serve them the same treatment he got, pushing down the guilt he felt. He repaid tenfold what they did to him and soon no one messed with the ‘Free Wolves’ as he called his gang.
Alaric Thorne indeed made a name for himself and now at thirty, he had transformed into a force to be reckoned with. His boys did everything they could that brought them food to the table. The Free Wolves tried their best to mingle with the Pack as far as they could, some got accepted back into the Pack but most chose to remain untethered. His crew was occasionally hired for security and other odd jobs that the Pack members found ‘Sketchy’ but as long as the money was involved, there was nothing they wouldn't do. To some extent, the rouges, especially Alaric’s crew were just ‘well-mannered thugs’ as many decided to put it but to Alaric, they were his new brothers and sisters -his family, that's all he needed, that was all he was allowed to need if wanted to see his father on his knees.
His number one goal in life was to avenge his mother's death, that was the only reason he woke up every day. His mom had been a second Mate after Euthychus’ mother died of illness. The Pack had spread rumours that Alaric's mother had been responsible but still his father, had stuck by her and Alaric had believed his parents were in love. He was wrong, the man was horrible and he had a feeling he was hiding things.
Alaric thanked the moon goddess that he took his dead mother's last name instead of Brown, he couldn't imagine sharing more than DNA with the man that killed his mother. What puzzled him the most was how Eutychus suddenly changed and they stopped being best friends after his wolf presented. He tried to live past the fact that he had been the one that packed Alaric’s clothes for him. He had watched with teary eyes as Eutychus looked at him with pure hatred. He had tried his best to erase the ugly memories from his mind and heart, but there were days they just didn't go away.
“Have you heard… that two-faced chameleon might actually get married. ” Kieran broke his chain of thought. He did not need to ask who it was. Kieran lived to bring Eutychus down whatever chance he got. Unlike Alaric, Kieran was very vocal with his thoughts, even the ones that should never leave his head. Kieran stood tall and bulky, the perfect definition of a “Big bad wolf”. His only flaw was that he mostly spoke without thinking.
“Who is so unlucky to be paired with the chameleon?” Alaric asked totally uninterested.
“One of those wealthy heiresses. Maybe if I had the money I would have a Mate too,” Kieran said, changing the subject. He had always been like this.
“Key, we all know money isn't the problem here. You need a heart, and maybe a new brain and a filter for that mouth,” Alaric said and Kieran just scowled.
“Nahhh, then I’d be too basic. Anyways we have a meeting with some wolf that just came back from heavens knows where. He wants security ….” Kieran said but Alaric tuned him out and his mind began working overtime again. Mate … a Mate … marriage… a future. The words danced around in his head. It's not as he had never thought about them but if a two-faced character like his half-brother could get a Mate, then perhaps he too could….
‘No… love is for… losers. ’ the ever-steady voice in his head said and absent-mindedly nodded in agreement.
“Great, so we can have the Hawaiian pizza with a strawberry milkshake. ” Kieran’s voice brought him back.
“Wha- what? ” Alaric asked in surprise, he hated pineapples with a passion and strawberries creeped him out.
“You zoned out again…” Kieran said.
“No, I didn't, I was just keenly listening to you.No to the fruit pizza and devil's fruit.
”Alaric replied, scrunching his nose at the thought of Hawaiian pizza.
Alaric shut off the part of his brain that was struggling with his inner demons and emotions, all while trying to find his place in the world and understand the true meaning of family, loyalty, and love. He switched to his character which was a wolf who did not conform to the Pack rules and society's conventions. He preferred being a complex character, that was the only way he could achieve his main goal.
Together with Kieran, they looked over all their books, fixing what they had to so they could stay under the authorities' radar. He assigned his boys tasks that needed to be done and all that leadership stuff. He tried his best not to think of anything irrelevant such as a Mate, that was wishful thinking that only fools thought of.
“Is the guy needing protection, Darian? ” Alaric asked when he suddenly remembered the name from Kieran’s ranting.
“Yes, he is holding some sort of party at the casino. He probably doesn't know you own the building. How I wish I could bring him down a few pegs. That pompous wolf. So what if we haven't really been ‘out to see the world’? ” Kieran said ance again rambling.
Darian Taylor was the one resilient Beta. Everyone, even the rogues knew he was obsessed with perfection and associated himself with wolves he found perfect.
“What does he really want from ‘Trash’ like us? Isn't that what he always called us whenever we crossed paths? ” Alaric asked, remembering how he hated Eutychus when they were kids. Word had it that he had even refused a Mate he'd been paired with because she wasnt ‘All that’.
“We will know once we reach the meeting place, our casino,” Kieran said and they walked out of his office. Not many people knew he owned the casino, they just saw him as a manager who provides security for the elite.
As they walked out to their huge car, Alaric couldn't help but think of just how many times he had said and thought about the word Mate. Was loneliness catching up to him? He thought to himself and physically slapped the thought away making Kieran look at him weirdly.
“What? ” he asked, pretending like he hadn't just slapped himself.
“Nothing, just… nahhh never mind…” Kieran said opening the passenger side of the car for Alaric.
“I always drive…” Aaric said but he was already being pushed into the car seat.
“Yeah yeah just get in. ”Kieran said and slid over the hood to the other side. One never knew what to expect with Kieran.
Alaric on the other hand just chanted ‘Strawberries are evil’ over and over hoping to replace the abominable word that wouldn’t stop echoing in his mind, but how long was it going to last before he gave in?
Darrian Darrian sat in the luxurious leather seat of his private jet, staring out the window as the plane soared above the clouds. He had been away for four long years, travelling the world in search of a perfect mate, one that would replace the numbness in his chest, but he had yet to find her. As he looked out at the endless expanse of blue sky and white clouds, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of disappointment and a hint of regret and wondered if perhaps he had been too rash in rejecting the one meant for him, however, if he was to replace Eutychus, he had to be the best. He had been so sure that he would find a suitable mate on this trip, but now he was returning home, to try once more. The plane began to descend and the familiar outline of his hometown came into view, Darian couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and pride that he was no longer just the son of a Beta. He was now part of the elite society that basically made rules for the pack, he had money and with th
Eutychus Eutychus Brown was a force to be reckoned with. As the captain of the Nightfall Pack's army and next in line to be Alpha, he commanded respect and fear from his fellow packmates. He was a skilled warrior and strategist, known for his cunning tactics and fearless leadership in battle. But despite his admirable qualities, Eutychus held a deep-seated grudge against Alaric, his half-brother. They had grown up attached to the hip and he had always felt like his younger brother was stronger than him. However, that did not bother him because Alaric would never be next in line for he was an illegitimate child. At 21, when his wolf presented, Eutychus was surprised to discover that his half-brother was actually a hybrid. He was confused at first but then a part of him was glad that his brother wasnt as perfect as he carried himself and when it was time to send him packing, Eutychus did not bat an eyelash, now his father had the perfect son, the perfect heir. However, his father nev
IsadoraThings were looking for Isadora, as good as things could look for a wolf struggling to fit in. Eutychus had come back from his round trip and just like he had promised, they were moving in together. Isadora did not believe that they were actually dating, even as she wheeled her bags ready to move out . Selene had smiled down on her, that was the only logical reason, she thought. She tried to ignore her father’s advice.‘Get pregnant?? we haven't even…’ she thought to herself, a blush rising in her cheeks. In as much as they had been dating, they were yet to actually go past ‘intense make out’ sessions. Eutychus was a gentleman, he did not want to take advantage of her until things were official. Even when Isadora wanted nothing more than to be taken advantage of, she still reeled in her raging hormones and let things as Eutychus wanted, after all she did not want to mess anything up.Once she reached the front yard, a very familiar looking car was pulling up at their front doo
AlaricThis was going to be yet another boring meeting where the ‘righteous wolves’ would try to look down upon him and his crew. Alaric knew that much. Living as rouges did come with its own shindigs, let alone being the hated Lycan that he was, and one of them was the constant belittling from wolves in packs, homes, communities, whatever they called them. It wasn't like the rogues under him lived in desolate states. Still, he had a business to run and a crew to feed. The meeting with Darrian was long overdue, Alaric thought as his right-hand man, his brother in arms and claws, parked the car in the basement parking lot of his casino. No one in town knew it belonged to him, they all assumed it belonged to one of the rich wolf bastards, it's not like they cared anyway. To them, they just had a place to be unruly and defiant. Hypocrites. That’s what they were, looking down on him and his crew because they
IsadoraLike everything else in the Alpha’s manor, the dining room was lavish, with the most luxurious items on the elegantly set dining table. She walked in, expecting to see Eutychus and his father but there weren’t there yet. The staff were busy setting up the table and she could see more than three plate settings. She walked over to the seat that would be hers. If she went by the proper seating arrangements, she would be
Alaric Making arrangements for Darrian’s party occupied most if not all of Alaric’s time. He hated it. He needed the day to be as perfect and incident free as possible. Mostly because he couldn’t let his estranged father find fault in anything he did. Even as an outcast, he couldn’t be so nonchalant about things related to the pack, he had an image to protect. He combed over all the itinerary, cross-checked the security for the night. He eve
DarrianDarrian lay in his bed, swiping through the profiles of escorts Alaric had sent him. They were all just what he had in mind, innocent looking omegas who would provide entertainment for the night of the party. His guests needed to know that he could throw a fitting party for their high tastes. He had spent some time with some of the guests and he knew some of their deepest desires, things they couldn’t get in their Packs or even at their homes. He knew they had a wild side that went against their prim and pristine image they had cultivated for themselves and while the party had one sole purpose, to flex his prowess in front of the Alpha and especially smite Eutychus, he was also hell bent on securing his position in society and to do that he needed to mingle with the high and mighty that he had invited. He wanted to be different than his father, who had served the Alpha as a Beta. The man had
Isadora The dress incident had really bothered Isadora. Watching the maid come in and take out the dress she thought belonged to her was quite unnerving but that was the least of her worries. this wasn't how she had pictured the moving in to go Eutychus, her boyfriend, her mate to be… had not come to check on her since lunch. Yes, he was busy with his work and stuff but she was here, in his home for the first time. She tried to let it not get to her, there was no room for pettiness. She plopped back onto her bed, taking deep breaths to calm herself down, even with the suppressants there was still a high chance of things getting out of hand, and this, once again, wasn't the right place or time to be losing her wits. Isadora's phone dinged and she rolled her eyes once she took a look at the notification. [ Don't forget my advice. See you] Her father had of course chosen this time to remind her of things she wanted to forget. Why couldn't her father just be a regular dad, like all the
It truly was the manifestation of rejection's Ire and desire's flame as Nightfall fell under a dark cloud. Darrian's reign of terror had begun to truly manifest. Pack members suspected of treason, harbouring rogues or anything that did not go according to Darrian’s regime, vanished without a trace and were replaced by Darrian's loyalists. Fear and suspicion choked the once vibrant pack. Those who had fallen for his smooth speech of wanting to protect what was theirs, now wondered if perhaps they had made the wrong choice, but they couldn't air out these suspicions, not if they wanted to go missing. Meanwhile, Isadora languished in her gilded cage, for she was nothing more than a caged wolf, waiting for her master to choose her fate. The luxurious room felt like a prison, the bars forged from Darrian's cruelty. Regina, his ever-present shadow, taunted Isadora with tales of Eutychus' "weakness" and the impending glory of Darrian's new era. She had always hated Isadora and given their p
Alaric couldn't take his eyes off the baby in his arms. As soon as his daughter was placed in his arms, he had become a new person, no. The moment he heard her cry, something in him changed. The risks he was willing to take to protect his Pack were nothing compared to the absolution and conviction to protect his daughter. There was literally nothing he couldnt do for her and that thought scared him. He went back to the conversation he had with Kierran and realized that if anyone or anything threatened his little girl, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do to ensure her safety. Nothing at all. “What will you name her?” Dianne whispered, too tired from the whole birth ordeal, for a second there, Alaric was scared she wouldn't be able to pull through. “Asa, that is the first thing that came to my mind when I heard her scream. Pick her second name. ” Alaric said, moving closer to Dianne so she could be closer to their pup. “ Wilde…. Asa Wilde. Because she will be the one to heal us all”
Alaric paced restlessly along the Genesis border, the whimper from a suffering wolf a constant thorn in his side. He focused, pushing his senses further, the fragmented images that returned painting a horrifying picture. Someone was calling out to him. Suddenly, Kierran burst into the clearing, his face pale and etched with worry. "Alpha, we have some news… bad news." Alaric's heart plummeted. His mind raced to Dianne, his mate, and their unborn child. Had something happened to them?"What is it, Kierran?" Alaric's voice was a low growl as he started walking towards his home. “Fuck! ”Kierran took a deep breath. “It's Nightfall, Alpha. Darrian… he's overthrown Eutychus and their Luna … she's been captured.”A wave of anger crashed over Alaric. The ambition that burned within Darrian had always been a threat, but this blatant betrayal transcended Pack politics. It threatened the fragile peace between Genesis and Nightfall, a peace Alaric had strived so hard to maintain. But amidst the
Isadora awoke to a suffocating darkness. Panic clawed at her throat as she realized her eyes were bound with a rough cloth. Disoriented and bound to the bed, she tried to piece together the fragmented memories of her day meeting with Genesis Pack Luna. She tried releasing her claws in a half shift, anything that would assist her in setting herself free from the bindings and blindfolds. A sharp laugh sliced through the silence. "Finally awake, Sleeping Beauty?" The voice, laced with venomous amusement, sent a shiver down Isadora's spine. The blindfold muffled her vision, but she could sense someone approaching. "Who's there?" she demanded, her voice trembling slightly."Oh, don't worry, Luna," a voice dripping with sarcasm replied. "It's just Regina, here to welcome you to your new… accommodations as per Alpha Darrian’s request of course." Isadora's breath hitched. Regina, a constant thorn in her side. What did she have to do with this? She felt Regina approach, and seconds later the
Things in Nightfall were changing slowly under everyone's nose rather, people couldn't tell the shift in power within their pack. One night, the pack's enforcers were doing their regular patrols along the pack borders and the next, they were surrounding the Alpha’s residence, no one could tell whether it was for protection or assault. Another group of enforcers surrounded the council hall, with all the important members of the pack in it. “What is the meaning of this, Darrian, care to explain why was- ” an elder, angry and almost red in the face spat but he was pushed back to his chair forcefully. “I don't recall asking you to speak. '' Darrian sneered at the elder as he moved up to the Alpha’s designated seat, taking his time to look at the shocked faces of those in attendance. Once satisfied, he pulled out a wad of papers from his suitcase with the Alpha's seal. He put the items on top of the conference table and yet again let his eyes wander around the room. “Ladies and gentlem
“Did he admit? ” Dianne asked Alaric when the nightfall Luna had left. “Yes and no. Darrian claims that he did it under Eutychus’ orders. I didn’t believe him. My Half brother may be arrogant but never this stupid. Something is off.” Alaric said he couldn't shake off the daunting feeling he felt when they were in the office with Darrian. He was impressed with how Kieran had managed to keep his emotions in check and hadn't jumped on Darrian as soon as he walked through the Pack borders. “So where do we stand? You know I will support you through whatever you choose.” Dianne said, standing up to stretch a little. “It will depend on how they take my message from today's meeting. This isn't really about the assets my mother left me. It's more of control and power. Eutychus feels threatened, and I am not about to sit and let him think he can walk all over us.” Alaric said. “Oh I just wish they would try us… it's been a minute since I-” Kierran stopped himself from finishing the sentence
Isadora Saying those words out loud felt foreign to her. It's not like she had never thought about them but rather that was all they were supposed to be, meaningless thoughts. And now Darrian, the man at the center of it all, had made her speak those words, giving them life and truth… desire even. She looked away from Darrian’s almost silver eyes and focused back on staring outside the window. The trees were more interesting than this conversation. ‘Why in the blue moon did I call him mate?’ Isadora chastised herself as the car ride proceeded with no response from Darrian. “What if, I could give you - ” Darrian seemed to have found his voice but Isadora couldn't let him finish. Dreams were one thing, but promises?“This is not the time for ‘what ifs’ Darrian. You rejected me and I chose Eutychus. I am your Luna and you serve me as my Beta. We made our choices.” Isadora replied. There was nothing Darrian could give her right now other than his loyalty as her Beta. Darrian did not sa
Today was one of those days Darrian hated the most. They had a briefing right before lunch and after that he and Eutychus would be heading to the casino for business. He sat in the large conference room and waited for Eutychus to arrive. Isadora always came in later. However, this time it was she that arrived first and took the usual seat, one that was away from both he and Cas. “Afternoon, Dora.” Darrian cleared his throat and said his greetings. “Afternoon. ” she gave her single worded response, Darrian hated it. He wanted to hear her speak, laugh get angry or even release that intoxicating scent. “Are you guys still having your couples fight? Whatever it was about, deal with it quickly, your brooding attitude is suffocating.” Darrian said the only thing that came to his mind, hoping to rile her up and get some kind of reaction from her. “I don't see how that is any of your business. '' she glanced up from her tablet and fixed her gaze on him, just like he had anticipated. “Whe
To say Darrian had fucked up would be an understatement. He may have just started a war between Nightfall and Genesis packs. Alaric’s pack may have been in its infancy stage but the power they held was enough to make him worry. He sprinted back to Nightfall's territory, using a back route that had a stream. He bent down and washed the sweat off his skin and the remainder of the scent blocker he had on. He found his car where he had parked it and drove back to the ceremony. He would use the time to come up with an excuse because he would be getting questions since he had missed a bigger part of the ceremony. He couldn't erase Leo’s petrified look from his mind, the way he had begged for his life and how mercilessly he had been knocked out. There was no telling what the future for Leo was but Darrian knew he would be tied to him. It wouldn't be long before Alaric would seek vengeance and he would. He pulled up at the pack gates and drove straight for the ceremony. He could still hear t
