Stan POV “Weak points of the Pack? Who wanted that information?” I demanded of her. “I do not know,” she starts to say. “How convenient,” I say standing up to usher her out the door so I could find Kinsley. “Wait! I do not know who the head person was, but I know who I was working for,” she says to me. I pause, “And who was that?” I ask her. “The Wolf Council,” she replies almost whispering. “What are you whispering for?” I ask her. “They have ears everywhere Stan. You can never be too sure. Wasn’t the Council just here? It would take nothing for them to leave a bug,” she says looking around the room. I could not tell if she was seriously paranoid or simply adding to her performance. “Until you can tell me more, I am not willing to listen to this,” I say to her. “Now leave,” I add as she grabs my arm. I look down at her hand and she slowly removes it. “I cannot leave,” she says. “And why is that?” I ask. “If I do not come back with
Elizabeth POV The awful scream that came from Carly startled all of us. It was clear she was in a trance … a bad dream. Tamara tries to grasp her shoulders to wake her, but Carly goes feral trying to attack her. Thomas steps in to protect Tamara but that only causes Carly more distress. Before I know what I am doing, I step forward and put my hand on her. My touch seems to calm her. She looks at me coming out of her trance and allows me to help her back under the covers. Tamara is standing on her other side with tears streaming down her cheeks. “This is all my fault,” she mutters as Thomas reassures her it is not her fault. Carly slowly looks to her side, “Tam?” she says clearly using a nickname for Tamara. “Yes, baby girl, I am here,” Tamara says taking a cautious step forward. Carly looks at her in disbelief before her face starts to crunch up in tears. “Is it really you?” she asks again when Tamara pulls her gently into her arms. Ca
Elizabeth POV “What?” I squeak out. Carter stands and walks around to me still holding the folder. “It looks like whoever was paying is based in the Palace of the Kingdom you were stolen from,” he says trying to instill calm in his words. “Why?” I ask feeling confused with this information. “That is what we need to find out. I think it is time we start to plan to go and meet your family, Elizabeth,” Carter says to me. I look at him shaking my head no. “If they wanted me gone, I will stay gone,” I reply. I have no desire to be where people do not want me. Where people paid for the torture, I endured over the years. “We do not know what is going on. We need to know so we can neutralize any threat against you,” Carter says making complete sense. “Let’s think about it while I find out if we can plan to head back home today,” he says. I look at him with a dazed look in my eyes. He pulls me into a tight hug providing me with the support I need
Kinsley POV I had walked off my anxiety trying to figure out why Stan was supposed to be important to me. And why a mate had suddenly turned up for him. How could I be his mate when he had one already? It hurt me to think of him with someone else. She was beautiful. Far more beautiful than I could ever hope to be. Why would he want me when he could have her? Hints of my past were starting to come back to me. I could vaguely remember another Pack. Another life. I was not one hundred percent, but I could see glimmers of my past. I could not see Stan yet, but I hoped that would come soon. I hoped it was as he said and not as it appeared after I saw that woman with him. Pack members were saying hello to me. I nodded and said hello, but I did not recognize them. I did not give any indication I did not recognize them as I did not want to cause panic among the Pack. I knew we had to have an Alpha and a Luna, but I had not seen them yet either.
Alpha Carter POV We are quickly pulling up to the Pack territory. I have brought Elizabeth up to speed as much as I know. She is aware that Kinsley’s memory is still weak. She is also aware that Stan’s ex mate has shown up. And that I have no idea why other than she usually brings trouble with her. I had never shared this with Stan, but I had been relieved when she left. She did not jive with our Pack members. She was snobby, looked down on everyone and caused more issues than not. Kinsley was a breath of fresh air and someone I wanted to keep around for many years to come. And she was good for Stan. Elizabeth takes a deep breath. “What is wrong sweetheart?” I ask taking her hand in mine. “Just worried about Kinsley. I am not sure how I would feel if someone from your past showed up. Particularly if I did not know she had existed,” she says quietly. I had not thought of it from Kinsley’s perspective. She was right. It would potentially be devasta
Alpha Carter Elizabeth waits impatiently to see Kinsley. She is pacing back and forth, in front of my desk, “You will wear a hole in the floor, Elizabeth,” I caution her. She frowns at me, “I do not know what to expect when I see Kinsley,” she replies as she resumes her pacing. I can hear Stan and Kinsley coming down the hall and brace myself for whatever is about to happen. Kinsley walks into the room first and moves directly to Elizabeth. She pulls her into a tight hug. Elizabeth is shocked into silence. She takes a step back, “Kinsley?” she asks. “It is me, Elizabeth. I do not have all my memories, but the important ones are back,” Kinsley replies with tears in her eyes. I look to Stan who is beaming. I move around my desk and put my hand on his shoulder, “I am happy for you both,” I say to Stan as he nods his appreciation. “Where are Tamara and Thomas? I want to personally thank them for everything,” Stan replies. “They will be here s
Elizabeth POV I considered Kinsley’s words. What if it was supposed to be me that night? Did someone want me dead? We knew I was a target but was I worth more dead than alive? Carter looks to Kinsley after looking at me, “Anything else?” he asks. Shaking her head, “No, I am sorry. After that all I remember is the pain,” she says apologetically. “Do we believe Candi?” I ask everyone in the room. We all look to Stan. He shakes his head, “I have no idea. If they expected Kinsley to be out of the picture, they would have to be crazy to assume I would accept Candi back into my life,” he replies as he walks over to the window. Taking a deep breath, Kinsley shocks all of us. “Perhaps I should go on as if I do not have my memory? Then Stan could get closer to Candi and whoever this mystery person is might show their face?” she says trying not to choke on her words. “No!” Stan says turning around to face all of us. “I will not pretend
Elizabeth POV It had been a couple days of planning, but we were finally off to find out about my past. I had been hesitant to want to get to this point, but Carter was adamant we meet the threat head on. With us was Stan and Kinsley. They would not accept us going on our own. We had a team of warriors with us as well. We were still leaving the Crescent Moon Pack well protected with the Gamma leading the Pack in our absence, but Carter was confident the threat was against me, and the Pack would be safe. And finally, Candi. While we did not want to think about her and we were tempted to leave her in our cells, it was Kinsley who determined it was best she was with us. It may give whoever she was working for the illusion that she was getting in cozy with Stan. We had not advertised that Kinsley had healed from the rogue attack, so we were hoping to keep that tidbit away from whoever Candi was working for. Carter still was not convin
