Chapter 78

The full moon was shining on the Moonlit Meadow, which stretched out in front of Ethan. He stood in the middle of it, and his heart was full of different feelings. The air smelled like blooms and wet earth, with a slight hint of wolf's fur.

Amelia stood just a few feet away, her eyes shining like the moon. The relationship between them was already weak, but her secret broke it.

"Ethan," she said, with sorrow in her voice, "there's something I need to tell you."

He answered with his heart racing and his hands clenched, "I deserve the truth."

Amelia took a deep breath and didn't take her eyes off of him. "I'm not who I appear to be. My past is connected to your group, and I came here for a reason."

His heart beat faster. "What for? What do you want to say?"

Before she could answer, they heard something in the trees at the edge of the field. Alpha Gabriel Rivers came out of the darkness with a look that was both determined and sad.
