Chapter 57

As Ethan stood in the Moonlit Meadow, his heart was beating fast and the air was full of anxiety. The full moon hung low in the sky, giving the holy area an eerie glow. He could feel that the pack was watching him, and their whispers sounded like a storm in the distance.

Gabriel Rivers, the leader who had turned him down, walked toward him with purpose. He looked at Ethan with eyes full of sorrow and desire. "Ethan," he said in a low, serious voice, "I need to talk to you."

Ethan tightened his hands, his feelings all over the place. He had spent many nights here, trying to heal the hurt that Gabriel had caused in his heart. "What can you say now, Gabriel? You made a decision."

Gabriel moved closer and his face hurt as he did so. "I did something very wrong. I didn't see what was in front of me.

Ethan's eyes got smaller. "And what's in front of you right now?"

Gabriel thought for a moment, then said softly, "You, Ethan. "It was always you."
