Chapter 24

Under the pale light of the full moon, the Moonlit Meadow sparkled, giving the people standing in its center a dreamlike look. Ethan and Amelia gave each other a hot look as their breaths mixed in the cool night air. There was a lot of energy between them, like a storm that was about to break.

"I need to know, Amelia," Ethan said in a whisper that was barely louder than the leaves moving. "Really, who are you?"

In the moonlight, the violet color of Amelia's eyes held his attention. "Ethan, if I told you, you wouldn't believe me."

"If it helps me figure out what's going on between us, I'll believe anything," he said, his heart pounding in his chest.

Before Amelia could say anything, a strong smell filled the air. It was a smell Ethan knew all too well. Angel Gabriel. The alpha had followed Ethan to the field because he couldn't give up on the idea that they could be friends again.

"Ethan, please," Gabriel begged, his voice full of sorrow.
