[Amor’s POV] “I, Melantha Narkissa, shall now begin the marriage ceremony in the presence of the families of the bride and the groom as the witnesses. The divine powers of the temple shall bestow their blessings upon the couple. But before that I shall ask for the consent of the bride and the groom.” She walked to Zeve and whispered something in her ear. Zeve shook her head in denial. Priestess whispered again, and Zeve nodded. Of course. I knew what she asked her. First she asked if she was forced into the marriage and the second time she asked for Zeve’s consent for the marriage. [Amor’s POV] The greetings of marriage started showering on us from all directions. I had to get Zeve out of there, but I couldn’t find a way with all the family members trying to see Zeve. I knew they were curious. Some with good intentions and almost all of them with evil gaze. Whatever it was, Zeve needed rest. I mind-linked Morfan, Lucella and my mother. “Please help me get Zeve out of here. She is tired. It seems she might actually pass out at any moment now. Do something!” The three of them looked at Zeve together with a worried expression over their faces. Mother and Lucella looked at one another while Morfan— “What! An emergency! What happened? Is everything ok?” Morfan yelled at a soldier, standing next to him. The soldier looked completely clueless why the beta was suddenly yelling at him. “An attack! From where?” Morfan asked the soldier while the soldier looked as if his soul had left his body. “A-attack? Beta?” He froze, peering at Morfan with his widened eyes.

I might be a ruthless beast who can ravage anything and anyone on his way, but I was still a man whose mother taught him to respect women’s dignity. [Zeve’s POV] Amor’s aura was flickering faster than a candle’s flame in a storm. Sometimes, I felt like he was going to take me down any time and sometimes the soft gaze in his eyes melted me like a candle. Sometimes his gaze was brighter than the moon’s love and sometimes darker than the night sky’s lust. But what scared me the most was not his closeness or his advances, but my own urges towards him. Being drawn to his scent, craving to be blanketed by his warmth. I wanted him to touch me, yet I didn’t want to give away my heart in the flames of my heat. Because even if he touched me, it would be because of my scent and physical conditions, not because he felt something in his heart for me like I did for him. Fearing that I would fall in love with him, I didn’t even realise when I had already fallen into his abyss-like love. It was an eternal falling and my only destiny was to keep on falling endlessly. I looked at the medicines, the juice, the flower vases, the comforting warmth in the room. “And you say you don’t love me, huh? If so, why even bother to arrange all this in such a short time period? You have always been caring in your own ways. From the very beginning, is it one of those cares which is common for everyone in your pack? Or is it something special for me?” I rubbed my arm with my palm. The first person to genuinely care about me and my needs was Amor. I tried so hard to tutor myself to not love him, but when he does things like this, can I stop myself from deepening this love? Can I really not love him? I got up from the chair with a jerk.
