"Dana, what are you doing?" he asked, bewildered.

I didn't look at Demian, but I knew his eyebrows were furrowed. Demian didn't understand what was happening or why I was doing this. I know he would never have imagined seeing me kneeling before them.

"I kneel to ask for your forgiveness," I replied with a broken voice.

Desperation was evident in my voice, but no one was going to rescue me. Not even Demian, because he had no idea. I didn't need to see Rachel to know she was satisfied. She must have dreamed of seeing me like this many times.

"Ask for our forgiveness?" Rachel interjected. More lies from her. I've never known anyone as fake as she is.

An insult of frustration almost escaped me because of her behavior, but I bit my tongue.

"Because I've reflected on what I did years ago. When I denied having separated you from your son, Demian, it was because I didn't have the courage to tell the truth. I didn't want to admit that you caught me. But what you've said about me is true.
