THE MOON ROSE quickly. It was not a full moon, but that didn't matter as every pack member trooped out of their homes when it was time.

I stood at the window, watching them make their way to the cemetery. I was not an integrated member of the pack, so I decided to join them later. I waited for a few more minutes until the streets were empty before I walked slowly to the cemetery. When I got there, Rick and Draco were burying the long roots of the twilight ivy.

Burying our dead with twilight ivy was a long old tradition that we practiced. It was believed that the plant would guide the lost souls to the moon goddess where they would find rest. Most other packs had a different variation of the belief, while some didn't do it at all. It often made me wonder if it was real.
