Felza's POV

Sitting in the peace of our new rooms, I still felt the sting from the slap I left o Rhys's cheek. The echo of my smack appeared to mix with the weight of my sadness in my head.

Rhys's estate was beautiful and opulent. The surroundings was filled with beautiful flowers and plants yet the loneliness and quietness of the place made it very cold and unwelcoming.

It felt to many of Rhys people that I was the heartbeat of a wealthy Alpha who was also very handsome and most of the girls dream man, but though all I got was the stifling quiet of betrayal and hopelessness, I had hoped for comfort or warmth.

My own thoughts returned to my people, my clan. The people that watched and protected me while I was growing. Helped and teamed to evade external attacks many years ago and sustain the clan from external aggression. Their faces in the throng caught me as frozen in agony, disbelief and disappointment.

Their exchanges of eyes suggested sadness. Watching me wed someone they knew was so merciless and cold must have crushed them. The very same man claiming me as his partner right now.

"Felza, I have to talk to you," Like a knife, Rhys's voice broke through the quiet. His voice was directive, but it also carried a coldness that made my skin crawl. Turning to meet him, I tried to control my feelings.

" About what?" Trying to hide the venom in my voice, I asked. " About our future," he replied, crossing his arms. Given our bound as friends, we should talk about our plans today. The door opened suddenly with great force just as he began to talk. I turned to find a tall, arresting woman with dark hair walking into the room exuding unsaid strength. Her eyes fixed on Rhys, mixed with both familiarity and wrath.

"Rhys," she called in a voice like ice. I have to talk to you. now. Rhys's face turned into an angry mask.

“Victoria. What are you doing right now?” He asked furiously.

"Just making sure the truth doesn't stay buried," she answered, staring at me.

“You really must be Felza, Victoria is my name. Rhys's former friend.” My heart skipped a beat. Victoria kept coming back to me and I shivered with warning. Her want was what? Why was she in here right now? As Victoria moved towards me, her eyelids closed. Felza, I am not here to stir disturbance.

“I'm here to present a means of escape.” She said and I blinked, unable to believe my ears.

"A way out?" I asked, confused.

" Why would you help me?" I asked, knowing no one could be fully trusted at this point.

"Because Rhys is not who you think he is," She replied, catching me off guard and my gaze traveled to Rhys who was standing behind her.

“He keeps secrets. Dark secrets he has kept buried.” She continued and  the look on Rhys's face became more rigid.

" Victoria, avoid this mansion henceforth. We are in this together and we're happily married now,” He said and I chuckled inwardly.

"Between you and your dishonest ways!" Victoria rebuked him, not backing down.

"I know the kind of man you really are." The strain in the room seemed to be rising.

"What are you talking about?" I insisted.

"What's this secret?” Victoria drew in a long breath.

"Rhys created rivals. hostile adversaries. He has a past full of slaughter and treachery. I cannot stand by and let you thread over the same ground I did.” Victoria claimed. Her comments carried an incredible weight.

‘Could Rhys be as dark as Victoria advised?’ Though I wanted to believe differently, Victoria's eyes told volumes about her trepidation.

"What would you like from me?" Feeling overwhelmed, I enquired.

"I want to help you escape". Get back in touch with Chris. Should you decide to turn Rhys down, he has no claim over you. The whole idea of running back to Chris made me feel guilty as much as hopeful. Given all that had transpired, could I truly give up on Rhys? Rhys moved forward before I could answer, his face contorted with wrath. "I sensed things was not quite right. You believe you could just waltz back into my life and cause havoc.”

Victoria was not flinching. "I'm not in town for a reunion. Here I am to fix things. Rhys turned to me and narrowed his gaze. “Felza, I would like your opinion. Are you going to keep by your vows or pay attention to her lies?” The decision was intolerable in weight. Driven into a web of doubt, I looked between Rhys and Victoria. My brain flew, attempting to separate what was manipulation from what was true.

The resentment of Rhys was very obvious. “Choose, Felza. Are you behind or with me?” Victoria looked directly at me, desperate. "Don't let him write your future. You are free to make decisions.”

The tension was so strong it felt as though a knife would be able to cut it. As I struggled with to make a decision before me, the room appeared to shut in around me.

“if truly what Victoria was saying was right why did she still hang around the vicinity. Why didn’t she just elope for her life’s sake and why did Rhys slow his rage when she was near.“ I muttered.

A lot of things were going on that I needed clarifications about. I wondered why of all clans and people Rhys chose me. It was very unclear. I had to understand what exactly was going on in the background. It was a now-or-never option Victoria had given me. I wasn’t intending to blow it off but I had to think carefully and pragmatically if I was going to survive.

Stuck in the web of confusion, the tension became unbearable as I looked from Rhys to Victoria. The air in the atmosphere suddenly felt heavy and all I could think of was to elope. My legs suddenly acted faster than my mind as my gaze moved towards the door. I ran out of the room the next moment without pausing for a moment to spare them a glance.

It was a calming scene to watch.Perched near the window, I saw the first rays of dawn break across the horizon. There was no peace even if the sky was a light grey with a shade of pink.I kept going back over the events of the previous evening in my brain, growing more and more annoyed with every second. Felza had tested me in a way none else had ever done. Her ego and will to give in infuriated me, but at the same time I felt an odd excitement. She needed to understand she belongs to me. I had been very liberal and too gentle on myself. I had already shown her last night the cost of disobedience. I thought of it as such. But as I watched her now, still on my bed, a persistent discomfort crept into my chest.Felza's soft breathing rising and falling dominated the still room. She had been unconscious and I had personally brought her here si

Felza’s POVEverything was moving so fast. I couldn’t make sense of what had happened. It was very strange and concerning. I squeezed my face hard and sat there, lost in my own thoughts. Rhys had attacked me, bruising and pummelling me. My heart felt worse; my body hurt. When he told me we had consummated our marriage, I felt like I was drowning in a sea of hopelessness. I had woken up in his bed and the scent of his perfume choked me. His terrible eyes seared into my head, and I could hardly look at him without feeling queasy. There was a time when this same chambers felt like a display of the authority I shared with Rhys, now it felt nothing like that but a hell hole. I felt a flutter of optimism when I saw him standing at the brink of the trees close to the packhouse. His eyes reflected worry, and for a moment I felt safe. We both knew, though, we had time to waste. W

Rhys’ POV I could still taste the blood in my tongue. The night was far from done, and the shadows of the trees seemed to be closing in on me as I dashed across the dark forest. Not only from the effort, but from the idea of what I could discover when I came up to them— Felza and Chris, in the hands of that damned enemy pack. My heart hammered in my chest. My wolf roaring inside me, wanting to take control, my breath was labrous. Still, I had remain under control and think clearly. Losing Felza was not anything to consider. Bound to me by fate, she was mine and nobody was going to take her from me. Not Chris, and most definitely not Marcus, the savage leader of this competing pack.My blood went cold when I at last came to the clearing. On their knees surrounded by Marcus and his wolves were Felza and Chris. Marcus was towering, his eyes flashing with a mix of triumph and something worse. More seasoned, he was older than me and had a reputation for ruthlessness that matched my own.

Rhys's POV Usually in sync, my wolf and I reflected each other, but today there was a divide in our relationship. I felt as though I was disintegrating, the gloom invading areas I had never even realised existed. I refused to stand there and do nothing. I had to track her back-off and make sure she knew she belonged to me. But as I turned to follow the road she had chosen, a voice, this time inside my head stalled me cold. "Rhys, you're not ready." Though I owned the words, they were not mine. They came from a side of myself I had buried after years of neglecting. The part that worried about what I may become if I really let the beast inside loose. "You're not strong enough yet to face Marcus and his pack.” The idea made me furious. How could I not be sufficient? Alpha of one of the most potent packs in existence.Through blood and sweat, I had battled and crawled my way to the top to earn my place. Still, down deep I knew the truth. Marcus was not any average opponent. He was uniqu

Rhys POV. I found myself thinking about her non stop. Every instant she was absent seemed like an eternity, chewing at my core. I let Felza go, to not fight for her right now, makes me feel like a coward, a loser. I ought to have taken action. Anything. I didn't, though, and now she's with Marcus, probably bombarding her mind with lies, turning her against me. I rushed towards my chambers in search of Eric. As I enter the chamber, my heart races; the familiar smell of pine and earth does nothing to quiet the tempest within me.He wasn't in sight. I turned around and walked in another direction. I caught a glimpse of my servants who were engrossed in a discussion but paused abruptly after seeing me. Their eyes showed clearly the discomfort, as if a dense fog of anxiety permeated the air. I hated it since they fear me. For so long I reigned with an iron grip, yet what has it brought me? A mate gone and a pack that worries about me.“Eric," I yelled, my voice resonating across the co

Rhys POV. The grass's great expanse was strangely quiet, broken only by tree rustling. Frayed and tired, I peered into the night. Every attempt to recover Felza had come up short. Marcus was relentless; the messengers returned with just more challenges. It's odd how someone may feel so alone even in a crowd. Though their attendance felt hollow, my pack members had been trying to express support. Though they could not fill the gap Felza left, they could feel my hopelessness. Though within I was disintegrating while trying to keep the picture of power and control. Footsteps behind me, I turned to find Gloria approaching me. Her dress more exposed than usual, hung to her curves. She sported a light-hearted, nearly mocking smile. I had tried to retain some degree of decency and distance. My efforts were running thin, though. Every interaction with her served as a reminder of the void Felza left behind, and Gloria's presence merely made me feel empty. Gloria whispered, "Rhys," gently

Rhys' POV.. After Tito left, the palace appeared colder and darker. The image of his damaged eyes stayed with me, along with the pain in his words. The suffering and treachery felt like a vice surrounding me.Lost in my thoughts, my mind whirling from the events of the evening, I wandered the poorly lit halls. Tito's face flashed in my head as I rounded a bend, the way he had stared at me with incredulity and grief. My heart hammered, guilt and rage seething inside me.I had to clear my thoughts and find some sort of control amidst the turmoil I had caused. Then I heard a freezing noise, soft and muted like the scrape of a sword against stone. I whirled around, instincts driving me forward. At the end of the hall, I caught sight of Tito's shadow.Panic tore through me. Could he have come back? Was this some kind of sick joke? I grabbed the sharp knife I always carried at hand in a flash of pure panic and desperation. As I approached the shadow, my breath came quick and jagged. I rais

FELZA’s POVAxel had a mate? He met his mate? I still couldn't get that revelation off my head as I fought some rouges. Axel had surprised me greatly; coming to fight for my pack even when we humiliated him was a great sign of strength. A rouge charged towards me, his teeth bared, as he tried to slash his sword through my neck. I ducked and cut off his legs instead. He screamed out loud and I chuckled at how beautiful that sounded. Earlier, I couldn't handle the picture of Rhys getting tortured that way. I'd killed Lisa in the blink of an eye, and I was quite surprised I felt satisfied by it. I ran towards Rhys to give him a helping hand, “You need to rest.” “Not when I have the chance to finish this up forever.” He smiled, slashing the rouge's throat. At the same time, our gaze landed on Sebastian who was guarded with a few rouges. In just a few minutes, thousands of rouges lay dead on the ground, and I even sighted a few of Rhys' pack warriors. Axel must have freed them from the

RHYS’ POVI thought I'd experienced pain several times, but nothing could be compared to what I felt now. Sebastian had chained Felza to a chair, forcing her to watch me get tortured. In the same position, my hands were chained to the ceiling, while my legs dangled freely like I was about to get executed. Even though I couldn't see them, about two rouges continued slashing my back with a leather whip with thorns, while Lisa focused on piercing my nails with needles, serving me exactly what my men had done to her. Another slash on my back and I wondered if I could really take this anymore. “Leave him alone, please.” Felza whimpered, crying out loud, as she trembled in the chair. She'd tried closing her eyes, but each time she heard me groan, her eyes fluttered open as tears spilled down her cheeks. I'd pressed my lips together, swallowing down my groans, but when Lisa pierced my thumb, a loud groan escaped my lips, “When are you going to stop, huh?” I whispered breathlessly, closing

I held a banquet, the most talked about in my pack and I found a woman, a stark contrast to Felza, but she enchanted me almost immediately—my mate. I was struck by her beauty, her elegance and her kind heart. Within the last few weeks, our bond grew, and I kept thanking the moon goddess for making me find her. Every night we prepared dinner together and talked about our whole day while having our meal filled with love. Diana made sure she painted my world with beautiful colors, her smile, her laughter and her encouraging words. In just a few weeks, my life changed in ways I couldn't imagine. My aggressive nature was all gone and I couldn't thank Chris more for his perfect and slightly insane idea. “Let's serve dinner since Chris is coming over with his girlfriend.” Diana's voice settled in my ears and I smiled, turning to

LISA’S POVThe plan went extremely well. Better than I could have ever imagined. While the whole pack was asleep, hundreds of rouges—which I lead, infiltrated the Bluemoon pack. We killed a few pack warriors and kept the others chained in the dungeon, and that was just the beginning of their nightmare. Rhys had no idea what's gotten to him when he saw me. He looked shocked, perhaps by my sword dripping with blood, or with the fact that I was back to take what truly belonged to me. A day like this was perfect, perhaps the most perfect day I'd had in a few years. It felt like being on a rollercoaster, listening to the screams of the same pack warriors who made my life miserable. Picking between Rhys and his family wasn't actually a problem. I knew my rouges would get them captured before they got any far and so, I spent my time with Rhys in the dungeon. I had him chained on the wall, his legs and hands set aside like he were hung on a cross. I picked up a dagger, my favorite dagger, a

His brows were furrowed deeply as he said, “I care for the Alpha, but your safety matters as well. As soon as we get to Vanessa's, we'll think of a plan to get him out of there.” He seemed sincere, but there was a chilling glint in his eyes when he gazed at me. I swallowed hard and nodded, hoping the moon goddess would keep my husband safe. Halo tightened her hold around my neck, sniffing as a few drops of her tears caressed my skin, “would father be fine? Eric took slow strides towards me, “they must have used the secret entrance to sneak in at night.” And only Nora could have given them the exact spot of the secret entrance; it explained why Sebastian tortured her to death. I balled my hands into fists, anger surging through my veins. I weaved my hands through my hair, gritting out, “we have to kill them all.” “Or you have to get your family to safety. They're taking over the entire pack house. They've killed almost all our men. They infiltrated the pack at night. If we fight against them, we would lose our lives.” For the first time, I felt the urge to punch Eric in the face for being a coward. “You expect me to leave the pack house in ruins? FELZA’S POVIn the last few days, I'd never seen Rhys in such a dejected shape. For hours he kept staring at Nora's room, perhaps wishing she would open up the door and jump in his arms—but she didn't. He did it continuously, walking across the hallway to come to a stop in front of her room. It's been a few days, but Rhys couldn't take the news of Nora's death. Even her parents. Vanessa had refused to bury her, hoping she would sneeze and yell “momma” Her body was still preserved, but Rhys stood on having her buried. He was meant to be at his morning meeting, but here he was, staring at Nora's door with longing in his eyes. It hurt me to see him that way, but I knew how much Nora meant to him. Even with the few moments my daughter and I spent here, I could tell he loved her as much as he loved Halo. Perhaps even more. I cleared my throat and placed my hand on his shoulder, “you should be having your meeting, Rhys.” “The pack is fine.” His hoarse voice rang out, clenching my heart. I

Her gaze lingered on Felza for a while, “I'm yet to have a taste, but I'm sure this would taste heavenly.” She commented, and Felza smiled brightly, “then I hope everyone enjoys it.” I picked up my fork, but I noticed the absence of my second daughter, Nora. Her space was vacant, and Vanessa seemed to be aware of it. I frowned slightly and flipped my attention to her, “where's Nora? It's unlike her to be late for breakfast.” I said, watching as Vanessa slowly placed a meatball in her mouth. She wiped her mouth and leaned backwards, “we had an episode last night. She still refused to tell me about her supposed mate.” “And?” “She's probably sulking, still upset from what happened last night.” She conti

I hate to admit it, but I felt some kind of pity for them. He was just about to kill another because she refused to speak to him. And when she did, Sebastian smiled brightly at the gem he'd just found. He walked around her, circling her like a desperate predator, “I've been capturing your kind for the last few years, but no one's ever given me the answer and the solution I truly desired. With you, I can tell that my victory is near.” he raised her chin to gaze into her eyes and she smirked, “Since it's nearly midnight, we should proceed now.” Her voice was soft, but the chilling glint in her eyes couldn't be compared to another. She was just like me, slightly different in her own ways. I leaned against the soft cushion and tapped my feets on the ground, watching the interaction between Sebasti
