Chapter 66

"My child..." I whispered, eyes widening as I glanced at Sage, desperation clawing at my throat. "Please help me! I think I'm about to give birth to my child..." My plea hung in the air, but Sage and Lovely only stared back at me, their expressions a mix of horror and anxiety.

Lovely's hand shot out, fingers curling around a gun as her voice cracked with hysteria. "Goddamn it, just die! Die!"

"Lovely!" Sage lunged for her, grappling for the weapon, but a deafening shot rang out, shattering the calm of the room as it struck a vase on the table. My heart stuttered, fear coursing through me as I cried out in hysterics.

"Don't kill her, for God's sake! We need her to coerce Steven into surrendering, you reckless fool!" Sage's voice rose in a furious crescendo, his words a desperate plea tinged with anger.

"I don't care! I hate her! Why does she have to be pregnant?!" Lovely's voice cracked with anguish, her grip on reality slipping.
