Elise could hardly contain the shock on her face at finally seeing Ka’al without his wounds or muzzle.

The moment he basked in the moonlight rays, his wounds began to heal and slowly fade. He was the most handsome man she had ever seen.

His bronze skin and gray eyes felt like a powerful silver flame that left her in awe as he ran a hand through his hair. “Let's go, little wolf,” he ordered as Elise nodded in understanding.

Pushing all those trivial thoughts from her head, she needed to focus; this was their only escape plan, and there were no do-overs.

As they exited the dungeon doors, Elise followed closely behind Ka’al as he reached out to the spiral dungeon steps that led upstairs.

That was the only way out of the basement floor, but they had to be careful not to encounter anyone along the way, or alarms would go off, risking their lives.

Fortunately, at least one of Hans' words about the festival was accurate: the soldiers and warriors were all drunk from wolf wine and unresponsive.

*I know exactly where we should head to,* Ka’al channeled to Elise; she couldn’t help but be conscious of his large hands wrapping around hers as he led her out the doors.

The back corridors were almost empty, except for one guard who staggered forward in a drunken mess. Ka'al swiftly and brutally snapped his neck, leaving no traces of blood, making it appear as if the guard was asleep.

They reached the back walls of the dungeon, finally finding a clear path to freedom. "It's easier to turn into our wolves and jump out of this; it may require more effort, but it's better if we remain stealthy. I can feel my strength slowly returning from the moon's rays."

But when he heard no response, he turned to Elise, whose eyes looked wide and spooked. She shook her head in shame as she whispered, “I can’t—I can’t turn—I have a defective wolf... I’m sorry.” She said this to Ka’al, whose face was stern.

She felt a tremor of shame and fear overwhelm her. What if he decided to abandon her here and jump the walls without her? Elise wondered with her head bowed. She couldn’t even attempt to climb without assistance due to her broken hand.

She heard Ka’al let out a grunt as he climbed over the wall. Ka’al had pulled himself up and turned over the wall, and she could barely open her eyes to see that she’d been abandoned yet again. But then she heard him say, "Give me your hand, little wolf." She opened her eyes, stunned to see Ka’al reaching for her. "Quickly," he warned in haste.

Elise wasted no time. Taking his large, calloused hands, she bit her lip to contain the hiss of pain from her shoulder and tried to hide it under her clothes as he dragged her up, carefully helping her down the wall. She didn’t want Ka’al to know that she was wounded and that he could leave her behind because of that.

Elise took one last look at the stone walls and castle gate of the dungeon; her ears perked at the noise of fire torches passing by, noting that they were changing shifts.

“We need to go,” but he was one step ahead of her; his bones shifted in a fast and steady manner. Elise was shocked, no doubt.

She had never seen a wolf who turned effortlessly without pain; he was more like a shapeshifter than her kind. His mighty size stood at six feet tall, and his whole body was covered in dark midnight fur, with his eyes still holding that familiar gray undertone.

Elise took a step back, but something in her knew not to be afraid of this mighty beast's appearance. Ka’al bowed to her to get on his back. "Hold tight," he snarled telepathically before racing out of the woods.

They ran for hours, and Ka’al didn’t stop until they were out of the Dark Knight Pack Territory, passing two mountains, and he ran farther south. He stopped only when morning had come, and Elise could see the outline of the sunrise.

But soon enough, the clouds turned dark, covering the entire sky as heavy showers began to pour. They needed shelter; the rain felt like a blessing in disguise that would wash away all traces of their scent and paw markings, making it difficult to track them.

Elise was more worried that Ka’al had not said anything since they began the journey.

Luckily, they found a shed that looked like it had been abandoned for months. Elise was let down as Ka’al walked around the shack to check the surrounding areas and ensure they were alone.

Elise walked into the small abandoned cabin first, eyeing a couch by the side with an abandoned fireplace. Luckily, there were a few piles of wood left unattended. She quickly picked them up and placed them into the hold, striking a match and letting the fireplace come to life.

The doors opened, and Ka’al made his way in. A blush crept up her cheek when her gaze moved to his lower half, her mind reeling from the sheer size of his length. Was that something in me? She thought.

“What are you doing, little wolf?” He asked with a raised brow, the skin on Elise's neck and ears heating up as she had been caught staring.

“I-I," she stuttered, but was cut off by the blaring sound of thunder that had her frozen. The crackle once again reminded Elise of her mother's neck; she couldn’t breathe. She was having a mild panic attack.

Ka'al's nose twitched, immediately sensing a change in her lavender-rich scent that had turned raw with panic. “Look at me; I need you to breathe," he said, but she was far too gone.

Ka’al had no choice but to let out a blood-curdling growl. “Look at me, damn it!” he said, and Elise jumped in shock and pulled away from him. It did the trick of stopping her lung from giving out, but for a mere second, she saw Kyren's wicked face staring at her with a menacing grin through the crack of lightning.

“I’m sorry, I’m just blanked out a bit; I need to be alone,” Elise said as she took off into the only other room in the house.

Ka’al cursed under his breath, taking a deep breath as he dragged a hand through his long hair, reaching his nape, its ends curled from the rain. His wolf scolded him to get her back.

So he walked into the next room and said, "Look, I need to understand what’s wrong.” His words lowered into a whisper as he saw that Elise had taken off the torn top of her dress, revealing the dark, horrible purple bruise mark on her shoulder.

She gasped as she tried to push her dress back up, but it was too late; he had already seen it. “How long have you had that? Did that delta do that to you?” He snarled as he walked closer.

“It's Kyren; it seems entertaining for him to break my bones and watch me suffer. I guess that's what I am to everyone—a cursed wolf who’s seen only for entertainment and suffering.”

“I’ll rip that bastard's head off,” he cursed as Elise stared up at him. Their gazes met, and it felt like the rain showers outside had paused, leaving them alone in the world.

She quickly looked away; she had to remind herself of his selfish reason for saving her: “It’s not too bad.”

“Sit,” he ordered as Elise walked to the old bed by the edge, its frame groaning as he took a seat. “Take off your top; we have to reset the bones back; one more day like this and it’s permanently damaged,” he told Elise.

She pushed her wet hair from her back, hissing as she pulled down her top until her back was bare. She tried not to flinch the moment she felt his warm hands on her back.

“You must think I’m such a joke and a wreck," Elise whispered bitterly, “I mean, who gets rejected on her bonding day and then gets turned into this mess? I couldn’t even protect myself or my mother; I’m weak.”

“You’re not weak; you are strong; you faced danger head-on and didn't back down; you need training, yes, but you are not weak, and it is not your fault, Elise,” he said to her. It felt like she had been waiting a long time to hear those words.

She turned her head to look at Ka'al, who looked at her. There was a tense silence. She opened her mouth to speak, but Ka’al had popped her shoulder back into its socket, eliciting a painful hiss from Elise.

“Agh! Fuck!” She cried from pain, she leaned back, her body resting on Ka’al’s chest; their shared and loud heartbeats thrummed on her skin, and that was when she noticed how heated his body was.

She told him his fingers were drawing small circles on her bare skin to soothe her pain, and that unknown feeling between them hung in the air as Elise slowly turned her chin, facing Ka'al, whose eyes had darkened.

He took one swift look at her lips, and that was the invitation it took for Elise to make the first move. She leaned in and traced his face with her hands—his slowly healing and now handsome face. The most gorgeous man she had ever seen.

So she took the brave leap as she leaned in and kissed him. His hands reached for her naked breast, each nipple already peaked and hard, their breaths hot and heavy.

The heavy rain canceled out their moans from the outside as lust grew, with both their gazes telling that they were eager and waiting.

Ready and hungry for each other, their lips met in another hot and heavy kiss, greedy for more. A promise of a steaming wild night ahead.

This is a good story so far. However, the grammar sucks as well as the authors POV. It makes much better story when there are both POV’s. It’s like the other person has no say to tell their own story. I’ll read this one, it I won’t be able to read more if it so t change.

Ka'al was more than ravenous. His hunger grew with each kiss, his palm pressed on the soft curve of her plump breast, and her little moans from the brush of her nipples had his cock aching and hard, ready to burst. He wasted no time. Turning Elise over, taking care of her arms, and making sure not to hurt her, he laid her on the bed, taking the rest of her clothes until she was left naked. Elise held onto the headboard and used his lips to bite back her moans, but that didn’t stop Ka'al's hand from stopping its movement around her peaking, heavy bosoms. His hands brushed over it, needing to taste it. “I want to hear you; don’t hold it in,” he growled as Elise released her mouth, letting her whimpers come out in a harsh breath. Her vision blurred the moment she felt his hot, wet tongue lick on one of her nipples; her inner fire clenched as she felt her thighs get wet; her scent was stronger with heat and lust; she was insanely turned on by Ka'al's merciless hot

Rogues surrounded them before they could even notice, giving the rogues the upper hand from the very beginning. Ka'al's hands tightened around Elise the moment he heard a dark chuckle from one of the males who emerged from the shadows. He had an eye patch on his left eye, and his pale tall build, his grim face stretched into an unsettling smile. “I knew I smelled a good one,'' he said as the rest of the four males emerged, their hungry and lustful eyes fixed on Elise. Ka’al gave them a warning snarl to keep them at bay. There were three betas, with the rest being delta rogues. The mischievous glint in their eyes proved to Ka’al that they wouldn’t back off without a fight. Rogues were meant to steal and take, and now that they found a female so tempting, they would do anything to have her, even kill. “Do not take another step closer unless you want your heads taken off,” Ka’al warned. Elise (POV) Ka’al is the alpha king of the Black Moon Pack, the strongest pack in the realm. Their warriors are so strong that stories have been passed around for ages about them and how powerful they are. But hardly anyone has seen or been to the Black Moon Pack before; they were very careful with who they allowed in because their borders were closed to the outside world after a war that changed everything. They were a strong, sovereign pack. I tried to keep my mouth closed, taking in a quiet gulp as I glanced at the wolves who still bowed to Ka’al. “Alpha, I can’t believe you made it out; you’ve been gone for almost a year. We are glad that you are alive,” the beta male said with gratitude in his tone. The head guard stood up, and his eyes shifted to me and back to Ka’al; he must have explained who I was telepathically, but I could see the apprehension leave his gaze, and he was more trusting. “Kaide, where are the others?” “Tazmin and Alvira are at t

Betrothed. Rygan was betrothed. Elise could barely make out any words as those words came out of Kaide’s lips. Elise waited for Rygan to say it was a joke, a lie, or at least pull away from Alvira, but he didn’t. And then she felt a wave of embarrassment wash over her. In Rygan’s defense, he did look like he was about to throw up from that information about his betrothal coming to light, and Elise prayed and wished the ground could open up and swallow her right that instant. “El? El.” Kaide called again, his voice finally reaching and breaking her clouding thoughts, and Elise forced herself to give a short, reserved smile and bow to Alvira, whose cold stare never left Elise. “We all need to talk to the moonhouse now,” he tells Tazmin, Alvira, and Kaide, who give a nod of agreement. “Her too,” he says, addressing Elise, who still hasn’t said a word. The meeting point was in the white-stoned chateau; its name was called the Moon House because of the intricate design of the

Rygan’s POV I should have stayed away. The first time I tasted Elise’s body, I felt her alluring skin against mine, scented because of my rut. I took it as just my wolf reacting to any female, repeating it like a mantra in my head. Kyren had forced many females onto me before, so it had to have meant nothing. But it was no mistake the second I took her to bed in that abandoned cabin. Something changed. Elise felt perfect in my arms; my wolf was hungry and yearned for more of her; and a sinister yet feral part of me was satisfied that I was the one who took her virginity and that I was the only one who tasted her skin and virgin hole first. But it was all a mistake, it had to be, especially when I woke and remembered the promise that my family made to Alvira's parents, who helped my father, with a promise to join our house, a betrothal to have Alvira as my future mate. It left a bitter taste in my mouth, knowing that I had to avoid her. I couldn’t bear the crestfallen loo

ELISE’S POV. I didn’t go down for dinner; I couldn't stomach the thought of seeing Rygan and Alvira together; it made something in me want to come out and claw them apart. I couldn’t even control my wolf anyway. My pack made me weak; females were never taught anything but to be weak or never taught to control our wolves until we were mated and obeyed our mates' wishes. "He’s going to reject you soon; you are nothing; you are weak; you are a burden and a curse!" Those thoughts swarmed my head. I buried my head in my pillow, but a knock pulled me out of those thoughts. As I sat up, I wondered if Kaide was back. Kaide was caring enough to bring me food early, but I could only stomach a half-sandwich and an apple. I trudged up to the door. “Kaide?” I called but was surprised to see who was at the door as I opened it, meeting face-to-face with Rygan. He grunted the moment our eyes met, his brows furrowed in annoyance, maybe because I called Kaide's name. “Why we

The training grounds for the troops were crowded with males that surrounded the entire ring. Elise could not help but feel intrigued as she walked closer, finding a part to squeeze through as she noticed who stood on the ring. Kaide and Taz were both shirtless; Taz's muscles were hard and thick; his left arm was covered with a black band; and he had two striped tattoos. Elise had noticed that it was on all the males' left arm; one band meant you were delta, two bands were beta, and three bands were alpha, like the one she saw on Rygan's body. She hated that even at this moment that she thought of Rygan's ravishing sculpted body right now, shaking her head to get rid of the thoughts. “Don’t think about it,” she scolded herself as her hand tightened on the railing around the ring to focus on them. Kaide's body was more lean-muscled, but his body was not lacking in any way, just less jacked than Taz's. A blush crept on Elise's face when she looked up to see Kaide staring at h

Meanwhile, Rygan, on the other hand, looked like his chair was too uncomfortable to keep sitting down, as he tried hard not to look in their direction. He quickly unzipped the gown, pushing it off her. The beta watched wide-eyed with desire at how confident his omega had gotten in that moment. He watched as she traced a hand from his hard pecs and abs, dipping her hands further into the water, trailing down the space between his crotch till she held his hardening cock. Jax hissed in pleasure at her touch. He watched her pupils dilate in reaction to his, and her meek honey-filled voice whispered, “Do you like this?” ”Fuck, I love everything you do, and even you—yes, just like that,” he hummed when he felt another hard squeeze to his cock; moons now she was just torturing him. “You have no idea what I want to do to you,” he whispered. ”

Immediately seeing the hunched frame of my two friends, they both peer up at me with smug, knowing looks on their faces. And mischievous smirks I could spot even from a mile away. ”Damn..we know she’s yours, dude. But I wanted everyone to know she was mine, and I couldn’t keep myself from her anymore, not when my wolf was already so drawn to her. “I’ve lost to her, moons; I'm so in love with her; she is everything I could ever dream of, fuck,” I mutter, still in disbelief at how I’ve been truly enamo

There would be enough time to talk to her, and he would make sure to tell her his true feelings. Right now, she needed space, which gave him enough time to think too. The beta rushed outside to clear his head and get them breakfast since there wasn’t anything left in his kitchen. He dropped by the baker's shop for a fresh set of their renowned pie, with the pack members greeting him good morning. His hand combed through her gold locks, a firm grip causing a moan from her lips. She shuddered in desire from his touch; she felt his hand trace down her naked thighs, and a whimper escaped her lips from his touch. His hands pushed firmly on her tiny back, trailing into her shirt, touching the small expanse of her back and finding that sensitive spot on her skin that had Lorraine arching until her back pressed against the bed, leaving her a whimpering mess. The beta scolds himself with a curse, mortified that he said something so obscene. Jax then quickly settled himself on the island table as they both munched on their food; he quietly watched the female, satisfied as Lorraine ate with a full appetite. A deep primal part of him was happy that he cooked for her. But the reason she could eat so well was that Jax assured her that Nora would be fine with Abby and was in great care. That calmed her; she felt so happy and relieved in this moment that she finally let her scent waft across the room; it made the beta visibly stiffen. Her jasmine scent wafted across the room, making the beta wolf alert and thrash around, yearning to be closer. There was a time when anyone could try to tell me true love was real, and I'd fall for it; and all the more, having a fated mate was unheard of, a love was so strong like my parents who died in each other's arms during the war 20 years ago.
