Callista’s POV~~

“We will go meet daddy soon,” I replied, holding her hands as I turned back to Lily and Shaman Magnus. At the sight of them. A megawatt smile appeared on my face. They have made this possible for me, without them I don’t think I would be able to be here right now. They have kept me going when I felt hopeless. They are the only family I have now and I must reward them for what they have gone through for me and Jessica.

In split seconds, I found myself running towards Shaman Magnus and in a twinkle of an eye I was already in his open arms ready to receive me. I hugged him tightly to myself like a daughter would do to her father. He has been more than a father to me in the last few years that we have been together.

“Thank you Shaman Magnus,” I uttered with a gratitude filled voice.

“I’m happy you finally have what belongs to you,” he said, his voice tinged with emotion.

“It’s all thanks to you Shaman, thanks for standing by me all through thick and thin,” I added.

Callista’s POV~~“Esteemed members of the Midnight Mirage pack, tonight, I am happy to tell you that the true Alpha of this great pack is ready to take on the position of her father.” Andrian stopped and stared in my direction. I gestured at him to continue. “Look at the moon in its full bloom,” the gathered pack members said, raising their heads to look at the night sky. It’s like a big blanket of darkness with tiny sparkling lights—the stars scattered all over, like glitter. And there is the moon, a silvery ball, hanging up there in its full glory, shining so brightly like a giant glowing pearl. Seeing these things made a small smile creep up on my face. “This is a sign that the moon goddess supports this ceremony that is about to be conducted,” Andrian continued. “It is also a sign that she has Alpha’s blood.” Shaman Aurora Spiritwatcher commented; she is the shaman who confirmed that I had a pup with the Alpha’s blood that night before I was taken to the dungeon. Since she didn

Callista’s POV~~ “It—its Alpha Tristan?” He pointed in the direction of the dungeon. “What happened to him?” I demanded with curiosity etched on my face. Even though he has done something wrong to me, I still don’t want anything bad to happen to him yet. I want him to go through the hell I passed through while in that dungeon. “I—I think he is dead.” “Dead?” I felt a pang of pain shoot through me. No way; he can’t be. “We will be right back.” I turned to Jessica, who looked so confused. “Let’s go, Andrian,” I ordered as we scurried out of the dining room and headed to the dungeon, which was a long distance from the main pack houses. I had wondered why it was situated at that location, which is very far from the pack’s cottages. As we go into the dungeon, the memory of the last time I found myself here replays itself in my head. The torment I went through from the hands of the guards, Delta Elowen, and Tristan himself. The agony of being force-fed like a prisoner. The thought of

Callista’s POV~~ “We are ready to go with you anytime, my Alpha,” Andrian said with a slight bow. “Are you really sure that Tristan used the red ball of lightning during the duel?” I demanded, getting my mind away from the Wolfsong Dominion pack. They are the least that would bother me right now. The fact that Tristan used the red ball of lightning still caught me by surprise. How was he able to do that? Does that mean we have the same power or because we were mates? I will make sure to unravel the mystery behind this. “I am so sure of it, my Alpha,” Andrian confirmed. I trust him; he can’t lie about that. I patted Andrian slightly at the back, even though he was taller than I am. “We will get to the root of it. Let’s get back to the pack house. The rest will be waiting; the dinner might have gotten cold.” We hasten our pace as we head back to the pack house, then make our way to the dining room immediately. “Where is my Jessie?” I asked as soon as I noticed Jessica’s absence in

Callista’s POV~~ The orange hue from the sun shines brightly into the room, casting a warm and soft glow in the room. It felt peaceful and promised a good day ahead. I stretched out on the bed as my bones made tiny snaps, like a gentle percussion of joints readjusting and releasing tension. I felt like not leaving the bed, but then I remembered that Andrian and I have a lot up our sleeve today. Just like Lily had said, it’s not easy being an Alpha and also a mother. The responsibilities are overwhelming, but it’s not like I have a choice. The only people Jessica felt safe around were Lily and Shaman Magnus. But with time, she will get used to the maids. I crawled out of bed, avoiding waking Jessica from her sleep. I quietly walked into the bathroom to take a shower. After I was done, I used a fluffy towel to wrap my wet hair. I stood in front of the mirror, looking at the reflection of myself. A smile crept up on my lips, remembering how far I have come since I lost my father. I fe

Callista’s POV~~Andrian stood up and took the lead. “Let me get the keys,” he said, turning back and running towards the desk. He slid open a locker, then closed it immediately. He opened another one, and just like the first time, he closed it again, and on the third, he found the keys. He picked it up and jingled it with his hand. We both walked out of the pack house and headed straight to Alpha’s library, which is a few miles away from the office. We got there about a minute later. Andrian opened the door, and we went in. We were welcomed by the thick air surrounding the library. The scent of old parchment lingered in our noses. We walked through the shelves holding dark leather-bound books that stood tall like ancient guards. Andrian let out an audible sigh. “Where do we begin?”“I don’t know either,” I inhaled sharply. “Let me check here; you can check your side too.” I gestured to the other shelves at the end of the room. In the library, there are two shelves with books. Wher

Cassius’ POV~~ If there had been anything to be done to bring her back, I would have willingly done it to be with Callista. It’s been five years, and I can’t seem to get her off my mind. It’s like a persistent ache with a haunting melody that plays on repeat. It’s like a shadow that lingers, a ghostly press that refuses to fade into the background. Have you ever imagined the ache of longing—a relentless yearning that always grips the heart with icy fingers? I have been through hell a lot of times. I always felt the ache, whispering of a presence lost to the void. The thought that she would have been dead also crashed on me. The weight of her absence bears heavily on me. I was responsible for it all. If she was dead, I was the cause of it. This isn’t a statement of fact. She is probably dead. No omega would survive for a whole five years. Will I ever find solace in this endless night, or am I condemned to dance with phantoms in the realm of what-ifs? Oh, moon goddess, if she had bee

Two years laterCallista’s POV~~ “Spells can’t be allowed among werewolves; it is forbidden; we won’t allow this to spread to other counties.” The council of elders of Southern Wolf County had summoned my beta, Andrian, and me to an impromptu gathering regarding the use of spells in our county. I am the only female Alpha in our world. Words have gotten out that everyone wants to see this mysterious, powerful female Alpha. Ever since Andrian and I knew about the spell book, I told him to teach the pack’s warriors. I had made my warriors learn the spell because I didn't want my pack to be vulnerable to any form of attack. I might be powerful and not defeated by any Alphas, but what about my warriors? They also needed to be powerful. For this reason, I trained and gathered a formidable army of wolves. The warriors whom I noticed had reduced in number compared to seven years ago when I left the pack. Andrian told me they lost most of the pack’s skilled warriors during the war; they fo

You are nothing but a woman, so stick your ass down and watch what happens to your spell,” he flared up, anger evident in his eyes. Just as I had done, it was the same with the rest of the alphas; their eyes locked in the direction of the voice. My gaze landed on a blonde-haired guy. With his look, he should be in his late thirties. My eyes were fixed on him, and our eyes locked. I pierced into his deep green eyes as he did the same to my blue hazel eyes. “I think there is someone that’s going to give us a problem here,” I announced t

His voice came out in a husky manner, making my bodily hair stand out. A weird sensation made me rub my tights together as the warmth spread. "Say it." I felt our bodies collide after he pulled me closer and nibbled on my collar bone in a seductive manner. "Say my name once more." "Callista," he replied, his voice rough with emotion. “I am sorry.” His tone was low and soft. I gave him a small smile. “We can’t duel in the past; I have forgiven you wholeheartedly,” I responded as a matter of fact. “I shouldn’t have broken the bond back then,” he said with a regret-filled voice. “It's fine. Callista’s POV “Mommy!" Jessica’s arms wrapped tightly around my waist, burying her face in my stomach. Relief washed over me, bittersweet and sharp. "Where did you go? Aunt Lily said you left to kill big bad wolves!" I chuckled, the sound raspy. "Not exactly, sweetheart. I went to help Alpha Cassius and his pack. They needed a little… assistance." Jessica tilted her head back, peering up at me with wide, worried eyes. The resemblance to Cassius, with her sharp jaw and frame, was uncanny. But her eyes—those held a warmth Cassius never possessed, but of mine. "Did you get hurt, Mommy?" Her tiny hand reached up to touch a bruise blooming on my arm. Guilt gnawed at me. Leaving Jessica, even for a war I couldn't ignore, felt like a betrayal. "Just a few scratches, honey bee. Nothing a good night's sleep won't fix." I kneeled before her, forcing a smile. Jessica’s concern was a stark reminder of the responsibility I bore—to her, to my pack, and yes, even to Cassius, her father. But un

Cassius’ POV“Alpha, they are subduing us at the south border!" A fear-painted link echoed through my head, a glaring contrast to the ringing silence that had just descended on the clearing. Callista flinched beside me, her eyes wide with alarm. Pain flared in my shoulder, a throbbing reminder of the fight, but it was nothing compared to the sudden surge of fear that just coursed through me. "Shit! Let's go to the south border!" I roared the command, adrenaline masking the ache in my body. I scrambled to my feet, ignoring the way the world tilted for a moment.Callista was already moving; a black, brown, and white hybrid was disappearing into the trees. I pushed myself after her, pushing through the pain and the fear of a hot coal in my gut. We raced through the undergrowth, the pounding of paws echoing through the forest floor. As we broke through the trees and twigs, the scene that greeted us was one of chaos and goriness. Most of the packs in the North are joining forces against us. This is going to be a long night. “Shit!” I yelled and ran after her. We came to a halt when we caught sight of two groups of enemies pouncing forward in our direction. “These are two packs here,” I said immediately as I caught up with her. “Yeah, maybe they split up,” she nodded. “Attack!” she growled loudly as the earth trembled beneath our feet. The air crackles with anticipation, and the scent of fur thickens in my nostrils. The full moon hangs like a giant, watchful eye in the sky, casting the battlefield in an eerie silver light. Howls erupt from both sides. A scream of rage reverberates across the forest.Callista s

Callista’s POV The news of my arrival sparked a fire in the entire pack. Nervousness hung heavy in the air, but it was mixed with fierce determination. Young and old warriors gathered on the training ground, their eyes blazing with fighting spirit.I felt anger brewing up in me when Cassius’ gamma told me he asked me to come into his office. I had planned on how to trash him with words, but as I got in, his gaze made those thoughts fly away. A part of me craves him, and another part is pushing me away, but whichever part it is, I don’t think I would listen to anyone if it were. I just have to go ahead with what I came here to do and push those feelings aside. We can’t be on the battleground with emotions flying around. It would make either of us lose concentration. A frustrated groan escaped my lips. Had I traveled all this way, defying logic and reason, just to be on the receiving end of his teasing and flirtation? “I can do anything I want; this isn’t the Callista from years ago
