ROSHIDA
I stood in the centre of the room, staring at myself in the mirror as the seamstress moved around me like a merry-go-round, putting pieces of material together and sewing them together.“Do we really have to do this? Can’t you just take my measurements or something?”I’d finally sent the reply back and since there was just a day left, we had to get the dresses ready. It was quite sad that I could not wear my normal black leather outfit. Apparently, everyone had seen me in it.“Isn’t the cleavage a little low? I don’t need men staring down my top. Close it up,I'm uncomfortable.”As if life was against me, Sophia entered the room.“Hold on a minute. What are we closing up?”“The Luna said she didn't want the cleavage to be so low so we’re going to close it up. Although, that will be a very sad thing because I must say you have a pair of very nice breasts.”It was weird to hear that from anyone, espROSHIDA Sophia was right when she said that we were going to be so pretty. The tailor had called last minute and said that she needed to change a few things and even though I didn't understand what she was saying, I just told her to do what she felt was best. I didn’t know how it was going to turn out but I didn't care though. It’s not like I cared about going to the party so the way I looked didn't exactly matter. But as I stood in front of the mirror, I had to admit that this was perfect and yes, I was glad that they both stopped me from closing up the cleavage. “Isn’t that lipstick too bright?” “There is no such thing as “too” in fashion. Everything that happens is for a reason.” I let Sophia do whatever she wanted and finally, she clapped her hands together. “I’ve created a masterpiece. You should be put in a museum and not allowed to move. Unless you have to pee, of course.” Sophia had a
VALFRED When my father told me about the party, I was reluctant to go especially after hearing that it was in Lucas’s pack. I didn’t want to be anywhere near here but he didn’t give me a choice. I don’t know why he couldn't just go by himself. I got there late on purpose and asked them not to bother announcing my arrival because I didn't want to be here. What was the point of pretending? As soon as I entered, I walked straight for a table and just sat down. “My King, should I bring you anything to eat or drink?” I would rather die than eat or drink anything here. I didn’t trust that bastard and I never will. “No, just let me be.” It was only a matter of time before other people heard about my presence and I was shaking hands and accepting more greetings for my father than I could remember. I wasn’t just approached by Alphas who were trying to get on my good side, there were also women who were
ROSHIDA Did I expect attention? Yes. But not this type of attention. As soon as we sat down, we started getting approached. Well more like I started getting approached because Sophia just sat quietly behind me like she had done her part and was watching it all play out. Thankfully, there was an open chair beside me so I sat there looking like I was holding an interview in the middle of the party since the chair was not vacant for more than five seconds. They kept asking me for dances and I kept turning them down because not only did I not want to leave my chair, I didn't want to dance with any of them. They were all opportunists. “Where are all these people coming from? Sophia, help me!” Before she could respond, I felt a presence in front of me and I turned back around. “Hi beautiful.” I almost rolled my eyes. If you were going to disturb my peace, at least be good at it. The waiter
ROSHIDA The prince ran up to me as I stood outside and for once, I didn't feel the anger boiling in my chest. “Why’re you leaving so quickly? Bored already?” I wanted to answer him but my heart was beating very fast so I just shook my head. “Oh sorry about that. You seemed to have your hands full with all the men tonight.” Attention that I didn't want. “Men are like flies. They will go after everything.” What was the point of hiding my annoyance? All men were the same. “Oh well, I'm sorry if you were offended by anyone tonight..” Before I could think of a response, Sophia spoke up. “Some silly girl disrespected the Luna.” I turned around and gave her a look. I didn’t need her telling the Prince anything because it didn’t concern him. He stepped closer and I could see that the distance between us had shortened but he wasn’t too close yet. “Disrespected you
ROSHIDA When I say that I knew my happiness would be short lived, I was not lying.. Two days after the party, I received a message from the King. I was to come immediately. I dropped everything I was doing and ran out of the house. Sophia wasn't home and I knew she'd look for me so I dropped a penned note for her on the table in my office where I knew she'd look. I'm very sure that he was calling for me because he had finally found a witch. Which meant that in little to no time, I would be on my way to the Rogues. How delightful. I arrived at the Capitol but was not able to gain access to the palace early because of the immense congestion. Since today was the start of business activities for the week, it was expected. At some point, I was tempted to abandon the car and go on my bare feet to the palace because I didn't want to be late but again, I didn't want my car to be impounded. When I finally got to
ROSHIDA Thankfully, it didn't take very long for my stomach to become adjusted to the smell of werewolves. It was a miracle I hadn't prayed for and I didn't ever think I would pray for. Now I understood why Sophia always knew people were coming before they did. I remember always wishing for that because it seemed like a superpower. Now, I had it and I couldn't be happier. Well, at first, it seemed unpleasant. I was trying to compile some things I needed Sophia to do while I was gone when the door opened. I didn't turn around to look because I was too embedded in what I was doing and besides, I could smell now.. “Are you just going to stand there and stare at me?” She still didn't say anything. “If you are smitten by my beauty, just say it. I always knew you had a soft spot for me.” She snickered.“You have a guest.” “I’m busy. Tell them I'm busy, I don't want to see anyone. That's
VALFRED. Hours before the moon disappeared and got replaced by the sun, we were already awake. My father had addressed us last night because he wouldn't be awake when we left. I watched my mother dote over Roshida and I was surprised she didn't feel uncomfortable. It was obvious my mother likes her a lot and I was quite surprised that she hasn't told me to marry her yet. She was usually very good at that. Roshida was quiet for most of dinner and just listened to my parents rant about random things. The fact that they spoke about gaming and Kingdom matters like she wasn't there made me believe that they didn't mind having her around. We left on foot because even if we took a car, we'd have to leave it at an unknown destination when we couldn't use it anymore and that might blow our cover. The pack that we were aiming for was quite a distance from ours and it would take at least a couple of days to get there on foot.
ROSHIDA I got up early the next morning, hugged Sophia in her sleep since it took a thousand marching bands to get her to wake up and then dashed out of the door. I thought of not going with my car because I knew that I wouldn't be able to bring it back but then, I could just leave it at the Capitol. I'm sure they would take care of it. For the first time, the thought of the mission going wrong crossed my mind. If we are found out, we would be killed immediately. To send a message to the King and tell him that doing things like that has consequences, they would kill us without hesitation. I shouldn't be thinking about this now. It was bad luck, I would jinx myself. When I finally got to the Capitol, I went to see the King. Thankfully, the prince was with him. “Ah, here you are. I was beginning to think that Valfred didn't deliver the message properly.” “You have such little faith in me, father.”
VALFREDDid I regret that I almost kissed her? No, not one bit. Will I do it again if I had the chance? Most definitely..If my father hadn't walked into the room at that point in time, I wonder if I would have been successful. But I wouldn't blame her for acting the way she was. The fact that nothing romantic had happened between us before asides the fact that we had to act married back then was probably what she was acting on. Should I have eased her into it?But I didn't force her on the bed, did I? I didn't hold her hand or pin her down to the bed so she shouldn't mad at me. Maybe I should apologize. Maybe she felt I had invaded her space. Gosh, women were so confusing. “Did you father disown you?”I looked up at Reggie, wondering what he was talking about. “What did you say?” “Why do you have that deep frown that means there's something wrong?”Should I tell him? He'll just criticize me and point out all the things I did wrong. But that was exactly what I needed. “N
ROSHIDAI walked back to my room with a whole lot on my mind. What had come over me? How could I sit there and let the prince almost kiss me? It's not like I was drugged or anything. I was perfectly awake and I let it happen. To make matters worse, the King had walked in. Why did he have to walk in at that moment? Why couldn't he walk in when Valfred was full clothed and not standing over me? Oh gosh, this is a disaster. How am I supposed to keep staying here after what just happened? Maybe this is a sign that I should leave. I should leave as quickly as possible and go back to my pack where I won't have to face him again. Speaking of him, what was he thinking when he was trying to kiss me? Was he drunk, perhaps? “There you are!”Sophia's voice startled me out of my thoughts and I just held my hand to my chest to calm my rapidly beating heart. “Why do you look like that? What's wrong?” Should I tell her? No, she was pro-Valfred and I didn't want her getting the wrong ideas.
ROSHIDAI thought he was going to say something but he just walked past me, stunning me as he went up the stairs. Did I do something wrong? Or was it something else? “Don’t worry about it. He's just mad about something.”I wonder what it was. I hadn't seen him like this before. I joined the Queen at the bottom of the stairs forgetting what I had come downstairs to do. What had made Valfred so mad like that? “Roshida, it's fine. He's not mad at you.”Well, I knew that but what was he mad at? I suddenly remembered why I was down here. “You asked to see me, My Queen.”“Yes, I did. But it seems like your mind is occupied with something else so I will look for you later. Go see him.”“What? Oh no, it's fine. I can see him later. This is important, isn't it?”I don't know why his temper was bothering me. After all, I hadn't done anything to him. “Roshida, we both know that your mind isn't here so go to him. I'll see later.”I wanted to argue with her but I remembered that she was th
VALFREDI thought about I entered the car. Going to Roshida's pack to see him won't do the damage I wanted it to do. And she would also get the information that I came there and I was the reason he left. I didn't even want her to know that I was aware of this. So I went to his pack. When I had seen the reports, his pack was ranking the lowest. Now, I could see why. The whole place was falling apart and it was like a junkyard. Was this the man my father had made an Alpha? If only he knew how much of a mistake he had made. I took pictures of the streets and the building so I could show how dilapidated they were. What was he doing with all the money he was given? I'd had to ask a couple of people for direction to his house since I'd never been here before. And I hoped that I didn't have to come out here again for his own sake. I knocked on the door, waiting for a
VALFREDI dropped the towel on a table before I entered my father's office. “Good morning, father. Mother tells me you called for me.”He looked up from his phone. “I told her not to set off those damn sprinklers. Take a seat.”So he knew of that too? “I wanted to speak to you about something I know you would not be comfortable talking about but nonetheless, I have to talk about it because it's necessary.”My father had a particular tone he used that let me know that things were serious. “What is the matter, father?” “As you know, I won't be young for much longer. Not that I'm young right now but I'm still agile. In a few years, you'll be taking over from me and before then, I need to make sure that you have met all the requirements of a King.”I still didn't know where this was going. “What efforts have you made towards finding a wife? I know all your past relationships didn't work o
ROSHIDA I walked back to the waiting room. “Is there a problem, Luna?” “A small one but it's all been taken care of.” Felix was crazy if he thought I was going to drop everything and.appear just because he was stupid enough to show up at my house without telling me. “Do you want to share?” Oh well, why not? It was funny to me either way. “My ex husband thought it wise to go to my pack and demand to see me. He says hes not going to leave until he does. Such a nuisance.” What did he want to see me for? What did he want to tell me? “The audacity. I thought the King asked him not to come close to you anymore. What does he want from you?” I could see that she was getting upset and I didn't want her to. “My Queen, it's fine. As I said, I've handled it already. Infact, I've decided to stay an extra day. So that when he gets tired of acting a fool, he would leave my
ROSHIDA What woke me up was the water. The sprinklers were set off every morning and we had forgotten that when we fell asleep on the grass last night. I jumped up and shook Valfred. “Seriously, no one could turn off the sprinklers?” We ran inside, obviously already soaked because the ground was wet as well. As we entered the house, the maids were already waiting with towels. The Queen was behind them, smiling. “Good morning, sleepy heads. My apologies for waking you in such a mean manner but the whole house had already gotten a glimpse of your…should I say intimacy?” Gosh, this was so embarrassing. “Mother, you are mean. I'm soaking wet!” He collected the towels from the maid and handed me one. “Oh well, hurry up. Your father wants to see you. He didn't want to disturb your sweet sleep.” “He saw me?!” The way he said it made me feel like
ROSHIDA “You're enjoying this, aren't you? You like the fact that I'm now a maid and you're a Luna? Roshida, I should have known the kind of person you were.” I had never been so confused in my life before. “Sonia, I can understand why you're mad. You make what, I don't think I can. I did ask you to come with me back to my pack. I was never going to make you a maid. You were going to live there freely and have people serve you, just like you wanted here. But you chose this instead.” She dropped the mop.“You think I'm stupid. I know you look down on me and that's why you thought I was some charity case that you could help. But guess what, I'm better off here. I'd rather be a rat here than go with you where I will be indebted to you forever.” What on earth was she on about? Was that how she viewed this whole thing? “That wasn't what this was about. I just wanted to help you out. That's it. You could have easily gon
ROSHIDA After we finished eating, Reggie saw us out of the house. “Thank you so much for the food, Reggie. It was really great.” His smile wasn't as wide anymore.“Yeah, it's fine. I'm just glad you liked it.” “And sorry you had to find out about your dog and cat like that.” “Yeah, I'm going to have a long talk with them tonight. Gosh, there are going to be so many.” Valfred placed his arm on his shoulder.“Good luck because you're going to need it. You should have been a better father.” Reggie slapped his hand off.“You should be disappointed in yourself too. What were you doing while they were getting knocked up?” “Far up in the north being a hero. What about you?” Reggie couldn't say anything again.“I can't believe you'd stoop so low. Anyways, I'll be bringing some of the babies to your house so people don't think I'm the weird cat and dog artist. They already think I'
