Ella's POV"When did you escape?" Rok, the assistant community leader asked the newcomers."Two days ago." The response came."Why?" Rok insisted."The nobles are harassing the women and it's getting too much. We all thought it was peculiar to one household until we realized that they were acting the same way." One of the men in the group stepped forward and said. "They had all gone crazy because they know we don't have much choice because of the slave marks and can't survive in town with it. We eventually snapped and escaped when we heard that they were harassing the kids.""That is sad." I muttered under my breath."It is." Avila replied. I was talking to myself actually but I knew she had overheard because she was close to me. "The thought that they would experience more than they have suffered because of the mark breaks my heart more.""I wish there was a way to clean the mark without having to go to the jungle and risking your life.""Maybe there was." Avila sighed. "We have not
Ella's POVI was frustrated. This was another failure. This would be third attempt at getting the slave mark erased. I had worked on three different potions but none of them had cleaned the mark. What the hell had been used to make that damn slave mark and why was it more concentrated than before? I suspected that it was due to the slaves having the habit of running away recently.Even if we didn't want to get the potion to erase the mark, we had no choice but to do that now if we wanted their skin reaction to go.Avila and I had given the people the medication for their allergic reaction. They would stop scratching for a day and then start again. It was then we realized that what we really had to work on was erasing the slave mark on their wrists if we wanted to save their lives and that was why I was more than frustrated that things weren't going the way I wanted."How is it going?" Avila said as she walked, dressed in a lab overall and covered from head to toe.She had to be that w
Ella's POVThe walk home after we left the villagers was as eventful as a stone dropping in water. It was a silent journey with nothing much to write about. We walked gently and steadily through the field, crossing the rivers when we got there and climbing the mountains.I missed them already but there was nothing I could do about that. It wasn't likely that I was going to see them again. There were times I was amazed at the advanced technology that the people in the utopia town enjoyed and wished I had something like that. It would be nice to have the gadgets they use to communicate so I wouldn't have to miss someone too much, worry about them and without knowing how they were.If I could have that, I could find out how the people were all doing, if they had gotten the freedom they desired, if Avila had succeeded in making more slave mark cleaning potions and if they were blending in back in the society.I could reach out to my angel friend to know how she was doing. She should have
Ella's POV"Here." Kevin said, steering us towards the right. "We go through here."I nodded, walking after him like the others. We were about to get through the second to the last river and afterwards would be almost home. I couldn't wait to get this behind me.My heart started pounding as usual, scared of how the wolves of the blood moon pack were going to treat me when they hadn't exactly been nice to me. My emotions were conflicted and I was worried.Part of me was delighted as always that I was going home and going to see where I had grown up while another part of me was scared it was going to feel nothing like home to me. The blue river pack felt more like home to me. That reminded me of why I had been going home in the first place. I needed to know if my father was really from the blue river pack. I still had those questions to solve and I wasn't going to leave without getting them so yes, I was going home.I had gotten kidnapped because I was on my way home to solve the puzzle
Ella's POVI hissed first before going into a battle stance as I saw the owner of the offending voice. I saw the hideous mask first—which was all I needed to see to get me mad—before seeing the annoying arrogant swag in his gait.A bloody rogue.I growled loudly, feeling Lucy begging to be out. Despite my loud growls in my head, I could still hear the loud growls coming from the throats of the other wolves. I wasn't the only one fueled by hatred and anger at the moment.I doubted that the rogue was alone. As villainous as the rogues were, they were cowards who wouldn't fight a battle that they weren't sure they could win. They wouldn't fight alone and if they had to do, they wouldn't a group. They also made use of surprise to win their opponents.Fine, we were surprised but that didn't mean our surprise would stay for long to enable us to be defeated. We were much and I doubted that he was alone and crazy enough to fight us and hope he would win.A Rogue wouldn't have come to our path
Ella's POVThe fight was rough. I winced as I got a blow to my mouth and my lips split open but I didn't let go of the bastard I was fighting with. I wouldn't ever do that.I didn't look at my pack mates to wonder how they were doing. I had enough to deal with on my own and I was certain that they weren't having it easy as well.Thankfully, the toxin was wearing off from our system and we were able to fight back and hit harder than we had been for the past twenty minutes. As the rogues had said, the wind had been on our side and we hadn't inhaled much of the silver. It would have been disastrous if we had."Don't let them win." I heard the voice of the rogue group leader, his voice weary and panicky as he yelled commands at his men.He must have sensed that the silver was wearing off and we were getting stronger. I didn't know who the bastard was fighting with but I hoped that he was getting the beating of his life that he deserved. It wasn't Kevin he was fighting with or I would have
Ella's POV"Where have you two been?" Liam said the moment he saw us as we walked back to where the others were."We were out." Kevin said vaguely.Liam exhaled. "Thank goodness you are back on time. I was just about to start looking for you."I also exhaled a relieved sigh of my own, grateful that he didn't come to look for us. As much as I wasn't scared of PDA, I really didn't want an audience while I was kissing my man and getting cozy with him.It wouldn't exactly have been a disaster because Liam wasn't one to tell of what he saw or tease me about it. I knew without a doubt that he would have suspected that I had sex with Kevin the other day back when I was on heat while I was with the Blue River pack despite all the stress I made them go through, pretending I didn't know them and yet didn't give me hell for it afterwards. He never even talked about it or acted like he knew. Liam was cool like that but I couldn't say the same about the other guys, especially Damien. I would have
Ella's POVIt was time for lunch and we were all gathered around the fire, smoking marshmallows and the fishes we had caught. We weren't sitting near the fireplace because we needed the heat. Even though we slept directly under the stars with nothing over our heads and in the cold, we weren't affected by much. Our bodies naturally produced heat and kept us warm. Not everyone of us had to cook as well but we made a habit of all sitting beside the fire when it was meal times so we could talk and bond more.I chuckled to myself, wondering what the ladies at home who hated me would think if they realized that I had gotten closer to all their mates. They would almost die of a cardiac seizure."What is funny?" Loki who was sitting opposite me was the first to notice.Kevin, sitting beside me, turned towards me and peered into my face and smiled as he noticed the smile on my face. "Is there something on your mind?"I wanted to deny that nothing was funny when Loki had asked me that question
