Chapter 70: The Hearing

Alison's POV

The cool morning air was deceivingly calm, like the deceptive silence before a storm. I stood outside by the car, my fingers tracing the faint edges of the Alpha crest on the vehicle’s door as I waited for my father. My heart was a riot of conflicting emotions, dread, anger, and, strangely enough, a flicker of hope that today would bring closure. The air carried muted whispers of thoughts, scattered like faint echoes in a vast canyon, and I couldn't help but tune in to the mental noise around me. It was second nature now.

The guard beside me shuffled uncomfortably. His thoughts were embarrassingly vivid... practically undressing one of the staff members who had just passed by. His internal monologue was a colorful cocktail of infatuation and lust. I couldn't suppress the smirk that spread across my face.

"You know," I said, my voice cutting through the tension like a blade, "it’d be less creepy if you just told her how you feel instead of stripping her down in your mind."

Alison's POVThe stench of blood lingered in the crisp evening air, heavy and suffocating. My breaths came in shallow gasps as I leaned against the car, my stomach still churning from what I’d just witnessed. Priya’s mangled, lifeless body was a sight I couldn’t erase, no matter how hard I tried. My fingers trembled as they clutched the edge of the car door, grounding myself against the tidal wave of nausea threatening to overwhelm me again.“Alison?”Xander’s voice snapped me out of my daze. I turned to see him striding toward me, his face lined with concern. His clothes were fresh, a stark contrast to the bloodstained ones he had worn during the fight. Yet, the raw ferocity of his wolf still lingered in his eyes.“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice softer now as he stopped inches away. His gaze searched mine, desperate for an answer.I nodded, though I wasn’t sure if I was lying to him or myself. “I’m fine,” I whispered, my voice hoarse. He frowned, not convinced. “Alison, I... ” He

Alison's POV The wind carried a melancholic tune through the castle courtyard, its hum blending with the rustling leaves. I sat on the worn stone bench, fingers tracing the intricate carvings on its edge. The world around me seemed at peace, but my mind was a storm. The hum of the wind was a cruel reminder of how far I had come, and yet how uncertain the path ahead still seemed. I closed my eyes, allowing the memories to wash over me. Once, I had been nothing but a lowly slave, discarded and mistreated by the Silver Moon Pack. Their Alpha, Kendrick, had rejected me without hesitation, casting me aside as though I was worth nothing more than dirt beneath his boots. “You’ll never be good enough for anyone” Priya’s venomous voice echoed in my mind, a ghost that refused to be silenced. “Look at you,” Caitlyn had sneered. “You think Xander would keep a common girl like you for long?.” The words felt like daggers, lodged deep within my soul, wounds that even time couldn’t fully

Alison’s POV The walls of the Crimson archive room loomed around me, their towering shelves packed with ancient tomes that seemed to hold the weight of the world. I leaned back in the creaking chair, my fingers brushing over the worn leather of a centuries-old book. My eyes burned from the strain of scanning text that had faded over time. But I couldn’t stop. I wouldn’t stop. Somewhere in these archives, there had to be a solution.. something, anything to stop the looming threat of war. Xander had called again this morning. His voice, usually a balm to my frayed nerves, had only grated against my current mood. "Alison, you're shutting me out," he'd said, the concern in his tone sharp as a dagger. "I'm not," I’d replied curtly. "I'm just... busy." "You’ve been busy for days. Anything you might like to share with me?." I’d sighed, fighting the guilt that tugged at my chest. "I know you care about me, but it's nothing that should worry you, I just have a lot to finish up."

Alison's POVThe silence of the main hall was pretty much deceptive, almost mocking. The weight of my vision still hung heavy in my chest, like a storm cloud waiting to burst. Every step echoed sharply as I approached my father’s study, my resolve strengthening with every beat of my heart. The vision had been vividly clear, too vivid to ignore. I could still hear the voice of the messenger speaking to me, feel the power in the air as it commanded me to find the Crimson Vault. If this vault truly held the key to ending Alpha Cedric’s threats, I had no choice but to pursue it.Still, doubt gnawed at the edges of my determination. Was I chasing shadows? Or was this the very path I was destined to tread?I paused outside the study door, gripping the handle, my knuckles whitening. What if he denies its existence altogether? I swallowed hard, ignoring the tremor in my hand, and pushed the door open.My father looked up from behind his mahogany desk, his piercing eyes narrowing as he saw me

Alison's POVThe air was thick with tension as I paced Simone’s hut, the soft flicker of candlelight casting elongated shadows against the walls. Every creak of the old wooden floor seemed louder than it should have been, each sound feeding my already frayed nerves. Simone sat at the corner table, her milky eyes staring into a void only she could see, her hands delicately tracing the edges of an old, yellowed map.“You’re wearing a hole into the floor,” she finally said, her voice calm but with an edge of amusement.I stopped mid-stride, folding my arms across my chest. “How can you be so calm? The Crimson Vault could be anywhere in this entire territory, and we have no idea where to start.”Simone’s lips curved into a faint smile as she tilted her head in my direction. “Because panicking won’t bring us any closer to finding it. Sit down, Alison. Your restless energy is suffocating.”Reluctantly, I dropped into a chair opposite her, the legs scraping against the wooden floor. Simone r

Alison's POVThe heavy silence in the air felt like a harbinger of chaos as I paced the length of my room, my mind spiraling through the tangled mess of alliances, betrayals, and mounting tensions. The weight of it all was unbearable. Every decision I made seemed to tighten the noose around my throat, and now, more than ever, I felt like I was running out of time.A sharp knock on my door startled me out of my thoughts. “Come in,” I called, my voice steadier than I felt.Simone stepped inside, her cane tapping lightly against the stone floor, followed by two of my guards. Her expression, serene yet commanding, belied the storm brewing in her mind. “The guards will assist me on my task,” she said simply, her blind gaze fixed somewhere near my shoulder.“Thank you for agreeing to this,” I said, my voice low.“You gave me no choice, We are more like sisters now,” Simone replied, a trace of humor in her tone. “I'd go any length for you. Are you ready?”Ready? No. But this wasn’t about me

Alison's POV The air in Alpha Gaius’s office was heavy, the tension almost suffocating as we sat around the old oak table. The treaty lay before us, its parchment yellowed with age, the ink faded but legible. My fingers itched to touch the Crimson Dagger at my side, its weight both comforting and ominous. The secrets we had unearthed could either save us or doom us.“Are we really sure about this?” I asked, my voice quieter than I intended. “The treaty, the magic… it’s all just words until proven otherwise.”“Darling, legends don’t survive this long without truth to sustain them,” my father said, his deep voice steady but with an edge of concern. “And now we have the proof.”Simone sat opposite me, her sightless eyes directed slightly above my head. She held her staff with both hands, her calm demeanor a stark contrast to the storm raging inside me. “Let us read it again,” she said softly, tilting her head as if listening to something beyond the room.My father unfurled the scroll on

Alison's POVThe air outside Shadow Claw’s grand council hall was sharp and biting, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth. My boots crunched against the gravel as I stood beside my father, Alpha Gaius, the ancient treaty tucked carefully under his arm. A thin veil of mist hung over the landscape, blurring the outline of the towering structure before us. The weight of what we were about to face bore down on me, tightening my chest like a vice.“Do you think they’ll listen?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.“They will,” my father said firmly, though his tone betrayed the tension coursing through him. “The council was created to uphold the laws and ensure balance among the Sister Packs. If there’s any justice left in this world, today will be our victory.”The word “victory” felt fragile in my mind, like glass teetering on the edge of shattering.I glanced at the doors of the hall, their intricate carvings depicting wolves under a blood-red moon. “How does it work? Alison’s Point of ViewThe night was cloaked in a serene stillness, the kind that felt sacred, as though the world itself held its breath. The faint hum of crickets outside blended with the soft rustle of the wind through the trees. I stood by the window in our bedroom, the silver light of the full moon washing over me like a gentle caress. Its glow illuminated the room, casting long shadows that danced on the walls.I wrapped my arms around myself, feeling the soft cotton of my robe against my skin. My hair, still damp from the shower, clung to my back, and I brushed it away absently as I gazed out at the night. The moon had always been a silent witness to my life, a distant, glowing guardian. Tonight, it seemed brighter, fuller, as if it too celebrated the journey I had taken to reach this moment. I pressed a hand to the cool glass, feeling a sense of connection to the universe beyond. How did I get here? The thought whispered through my mind, not in disbelief, but in awe.Memories

Alison’s Point of ViewThe council chamber buzzed with a quiet intensity that seemed to seep into every corner of the room. I sat beside Xander, my hands resting on the carved wooden armrests of my chair, the intricate wolf insignia of the NightFang Pack etched into the wood beneath my fingertips. My heart raced, but I kept my face calm, my expression neutral. Today was no ordinary day. It was the first time I would preside over a major pack case as Luna. The weight of responsibility was tangible, like an invisible crown pressing down on me. A year ago, I wouldn’t have thought this possible, me, a slave from Silver Moon, now the daughter of an Alpha and most of all a Luna, seated at the head of the most powerful pack council. Beside me, Xander exuded his usual air of authority, his gaze steady as he surveyed the room. Just his presence grounded me.“Ready?” he asked, his voice low but laced with a warmth that only I could detect.I nodded, meeting his eyes. “I am.”He gave a small smi

  • Rejected: Mated to Another Alpha   Chapter 87: A New Beginning

Xander’s Point of ViewThe first rays of dawn stretched across the Crimson Pack’s territory, painting the horizon in soft golds and pinks. The forest, still hushed from the night, seemed to hold its breath, as if reluctant to let us leave. I stood on the balcony of the guest quarters, staring at the landscape that had become familiar over the past few weeks. It was beautiful, yes, but not home.Behind me, Alison stirred, her soft movements like music to my ears. I turned, catching the sight of her wrapped in a blanket, her hair cascading down her back in loose waves. Her eyes, still heavy with sleep, met mine, and for a moment, the world stilled.“Good morning,” she murmured, her voice husky from sleep.“Good morning, my love,” I replied, crossing the room to her. I leaned down to press a kiss to her forehead, savoring the warmth of her skin against mine. She smiled, but there was a hint of something in her expression, bittersweet, perhaps. Today was the day we would leave the Crimson

Alison's Point of ViewThe sunlight filtered through the thick canopy of trees, dappling the forest floor with golden patterns that seemed to shift and shimmer with every breeze. For once, the ever-present tension in the Crimson Pack felt like it had lifted, replaced by an air of celebration. But as I stood in my room, staring at my reflection in the mirror, my heart was a whirlwind of emotions, joy, nerves, and the faintest hint of disbelief.I was about to mate with Xander, the man who had under gone so much with me. And now, he was mine, and I was his. Forever.A soft knock on the door pulled me from my thoughts. Before I could answer, the door creaked open, and Simone stepped inside, her expression warm but still tinged with the seriousness her new role demanded.“You look breathtaking,” she said, her voice soft as she closed the door behind her. She wore her ceremonial robes, a deep Crimson that complemented her dark hair and the faint golden glow that now seemed to follow her ev

Alison’s Point of ViewThe weight of Simone’s revelation still hung heavy in the air as we walked through the Pack’s central grounds, the towering trees casting flickering shadows under the soft glow of the moon. Xander’s hand rested lightly on the small of my back, grounding me as my thoughts swirled with the vision I had seen and the strange, ancient mark on Simone’s shoulder.I couldn’t help but glance over at her. She walked beside me, her face pale but determined, her eyes darting around as though she were still marveling at the simple gift of sight. The Simone I knew had always been brave, but tonight, there was an unmistakable tremor in her steps, a hesitation that I had never seen before."Do you think he will believe us?" Simone’s voice was soft, almost drowned out by the crunch of leaves underfoot.I turned to her and smiled reassuringly, though inside, I wasn’t so sure myself. “If anyone will, it’s my father. Alpha Gaius has always been open to the mysteries of the world, e

Alison’s Point of ViewThe air around Simone felt lighter than ever as she stood before me, her face radiant with a joy I hadn’t seen in a long time. Her newfound ability to see had transformed her demeanor entirely, her smile wider, her laughter unrestrained. For the first time, she didn’t need her cane or anyone else to guide her steps. As I hugged her, grateful beyond words, my eyes caught something peculiar. There it was, just below the collar of her dress on her left shoulder, a faint but intricate marking. It looked almost like a swirling pattern, delicate yet commanding, as if it had been etched there with purpose. In all my days with her, I had never seen anything like this on her skin, so it got me wondering. “Simone,” I began, pulling back slightly, my fingers lightly brushing her shoulder. “When did you get this?”She blinked, confused. “Get what?”“This.” I pointed to the mark, tilting my head to get a better look. “It kind of looks like a tattoo. Did you have this done

Alison's Point of ViewThe anticipation for tonight had my nerves tingling all day. I stood in front of the mirror, smoothing the soft fabric of my pale lavender dress, the color chosen specifically because Xander had once mentioned it reminded him of moonlight. A sly smile crept onto my lips as I thought about what he might say when he saw me. This wasn’t just a date, it was a moment of escape, a reprieve before the whirlwind of our mating ceremony took over. When the knock came at my door, my heart skipped a beat. I took a deep breath, giving my reflection one last glance, and opened the door to find Xander waiting. As always, he was the embodiment of perfection... dark slacks, a tailored shirt that clung to him in all the right ways, and that trademark smirk that made my pulse race.“You’re breathtaking,” he said, his voice low, his gaze raking over me appreciatively.“You’re not too bad yourself, Alpha,” I teased, letting him take my hand as he pulled me closer. He chuckled, press

He looked calm, his usual stoic demeanor tinged with something softer, something just for me.As soon as we stepped into the grand hall, my mother appeared, her radiant smile lighting up her face. “There you two are!” she exclaimed, clasping her hands together. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you. Your father has organized a feast to celebrate your victories and, of course, your engagement.”“A feast?” I asked, raising a brow. “Isn’t that a bit much?”“Not at all,” she replied, waving a dismissive hand. “You’ve accomplished so much within a short while darling, and your father wants the pack to share in the joy. As I stacked plates and handed them off to the staff, I caught Xander watching me from across the room, a soft, almost secretive smile curving his lips.“What?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him, though I couldn’t keep the grin off my face.“Just admiring my woman ,” he replied smoothly, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed. “You look so at home here.
