“Can you stop walking so fast?” Denver was breathlessly trying to keep up with my pace. I plummeted my feet forward even more, desperate to avoid being next to him at all costs. I’m not sure if he could tell.

Now, what kind of guard did they place in front of the old alpha's door? He had to have been a rookie, as he was easily distracted and someone was able to get past him to the sick alpha. Suppose it was a wicked person out for mischief? That guard has lost many points in my eyes.
