22 - Slapped By Reality

"Does this have anything to do with the accident you had a few days ago?" His movements grew bolder as he touched my face.

His fingers moved from my forehead, now touching the side of my cheek. The coldness I felt from his soft skin greeted me like dew in the morning; soothing yet also leaving a sense of unease.

Our faces were too close for me not to exchange a glance with him. The longer it went on, the less accustomed I became to being stared at by those night-black irises that were sharp as blades. Again and again, his fingers pressed against my cheek, stroking it, as if he was feeling its texture.

When his index finger began to trace the parting of my lips, that's when I started to rebel. I gently push his hand away, and move backwards. I tightened the blanket that was the only covering on my body. After watching me start to build a wall separating the two of us, Matthias starts to get self-conscious.

He got up from the bed, and grabbed his pyjamas.
