Devlin POV
I was so filled with rage. There was no way I would let someone, even though he was a beta, insult my woman. I would never tolerate such a thing, and it should be known to everyone.“How dare you!” I reached for him, grabbed his face, and smacked him on the floor. My moves were just so fast that evading me was impossible. I saw how he leaned backward and was thinking of attacking but didn’t know if it was a suitable option. That would have been the worst option for him if he attacked me. Well, I wasn’t expecting this to be easy as he was someone who could put on a good fight.“Alpha!”“Alpha!”Everyone gasped, seeing what I just did. Even Elora wasn’t exempted from the shock. She was even louder, and it was a good thing because she would get to see how important she was to me.“Is it because of this human, that you have hurt me so badly? Is it bad for me to try to open your eyes to the truth?” Lucian grumbled right after getting himself back. The impact of the attack was so draining that he had to stagger a few times to be able to stand properly.“Who are you to tell me what’s good for me and what’s bad?” I snapped, staring daggers at him while clasping my fist. Depending on his answer, I could be pushed to the verge of attacking again. I was sure of it.“She’s just a fucking human. Look at her! I am your beta and can make decisions too for this pack!” He replied, getting high on himself.“Human or not, you don't deserve to judge. Just look at you. Do you think you are in the position to tell me what to do?” I raised a brow, walking towards him.“I…” He stammered after being hit with my dangerous aura, and he was forced to gulp down the remaining words he intended to say.“Yeah, that's right. I would choose my words wisely if I were you. Now, get out of my face!” I snapped, not only at him but at everyone. My eyes were burning furiously as I looked around, and they dared not look into my eyes.Even Lucian himself shivered as he started walking away. Blood was still dripping from his nose from the attack and for the fact that it was from an Alpha, it would take time to heal, and he knew that.Smirking, I turned to face Elora and right there her beauty was as radiant as ever. Once again I was charmed by her overwhelming beauty and the urge to claim her flooded inside me. Wolf or not, she was my mate and I had chosen her for me.“Are you alright?” I reached for her, seeing she was shivering and unable to move from the spot she was. Even though the danger had been cleared out of the way, what had just happened created a terrifying scene in her head and must be keeping her stuck in it.Sighing, I cupped her cheeks to make her look at me. “Nothing will happen to you as long as I'm here,” I assured, looking deeply into her eyes and she was able to pull out of her daze.Gulping down hard, she said nothing more. I could tell she hadn't fully accepted me. I wouldn't blame her, nor would I force her. I intended to go slowly to win her heart, no matter how long it might take. However, seeing that look of fear in her eyes was like piercing needles in my chest, and I wanted to replace it as fast as I could.“Let's go. Allow me to bring you to your room.” I offered since he was silent all along.“Okay.” She finally said. Even though it was just a word, hearing her response meant a lot to me.Holding her hand, I led her into the pack house. Anyone we came across always sniffed the air and stared intensely at her as they figured she had no wolf. But for the fact that she was with me, no one could do anything.Noticing this, she clung to my arm tightly and her warmth gave me a tingling sensation, but I ignored it.Shortly after, we reached for a room and got on. It was just like every normal room in the house, having some exquisite settings. I would have taken her to mine, but for now, I wanted her to have her own space and see for herself that I wasn't the monster she thought I was.“This is your room,” I said with a gesture while she stared around, but her face didn't give a certain reaction for me to know whether she was pleased or not.“You like it?” I pushed forward to ask, but she gave me no response. Then she walked towards the bed and tucked herself under the sheet.I sighed. My hand pushed my hair backward as I thought of what to do next. Though my wolf kept giving me suggestions, all of it was never an option for me.“I'll send in some maids to help you. For now, you should rest.” I said to her and walked towards the door when she spoke.“Thank you…for saving me out there.” She said in a faint voice, and I twirled my head to the back to look at her before going ahead to walk out of the room.I walked in silence, heading towards the maid's quarters. She was going to need some food and maybe someone to show her around the place. The only person who came to my head was Sarah since he was the head maid and one of the people I respected a lot in the pack. She would be able to do a good job and make Elora think good of me. Well, it wasn't like I was bad as the rumors say.Sighing, I advanced down the path heading towards the maid section. The moment I got on the lane, I saw there was a group of maids surrounding a spot, seeming to be discussing something. My interest became piqued. Though I could listen to them using my super hearing ability, I wanted to see what they were looking at.Curiously, I advanced further and that was when I heard a whisper.“Did you see the lady he brought in? She looks so weak!” Someone said amidst the crowd, and it got me infuriated. My fingers clasped tighter, and I couldn't hold the disgust down anymore.“And what's your business?” My voice rang throughout the place, and they all shivered as they turned to look at me. Fear glinted off their eyes and they quickly bowed.“Alpha!” All of them chanted in unison, but it made me angry.“Don't you have other things to do other than running your mouths around?” I thundered, and their body vibrated in fear.“We are-”“Get out of my sight! Now!” I grumbled, stomping my feet on the floor, and they all raced out of the place.Just then, my eyes settled on Sarah as she was about to sneak off and I called out.“Sarah,” She froze.Devlin POV“I see you have joined yourself with gossipers and it was quite enjoyable to you, right?” I said with a hint of sarcasm in my words, but anger was seeping into my face, and she could see it.“Ooh, Alpha, I am deeply sorry. It must be a misunderstanding.” She bowed quickly.“A misunderstanding? Can this be a misunderstanding? I caught you in the middle of a group gossiping, and you call it a misunderstanding?” I was shocked by how hilarious she sounded.“No. I was curious when I saw a gathering here so I wanted to see what was going on for myself.” She replied quickly while I scanned her closely to tell if she was lying to save her skin, or maybe she was telling the truth.I wouldn't have believed it, but on second thought, I remembered I was also curious to know what was going on at first until I heard what the maid said.Sighing, I shook my shoulders as I slowly let go of the anger before looking back at her.“That's fine. I have brought my mate to the pack and I want you
Elora POVStanding before the window, I leaned forward to see some warriors training. Not only males but females were among them. Their moves captivated my eyes, and I was awestruck watching them, but I realized I could never be one of them.I had no wolf, and maybe I would continue to be weak for my entire life starting from today."Alpha brought a human to the pack?” A lady warrior said as she was exchanging fists with someone.“Yeah, I saw her with both eyes. She looks weak. I think the Alpha is keen to join her in the collection of girls he had slept with, if not what other use can she have? She can't fight, she can't be anything. She's even weaker than omegas in the pack.” Another lady snickered and was brimming with happiness as she said those words.I felt like my heart was split open. So I would be used? That was all this was about? I fumed, unable to contain myself. I didn't know whether it was out of jealousy or something I hadn't seen yet, but I could tell their words were
Elora's POVBlood kept oozing down my neck without stopping, and once again I felt so weak. If I was strong or maybe had a wolf, then I could have easily healed these wounds. It hurts. So much that I could tell as the pain throbbed inside my body.“Are you alright?” The woman asked, but I had no response. My hand was wrapped around my neck trying to put pressure on the wound as hard as I could as it felt like my blood would get drained soon, and maybe my head would fall off.“Come sit here while I help you clean out the wound. I see you can't heal.” She said again, and I couldn't tell if it was it of worry or pity. Well, at the moment it wasn't like I cared about what she thinks but rather how to get this blood spilling to stop.Quickly I stood up and walked toward where she asked me to and gently sat down on the chair.“Bring your hands down, let me take a look.” She offered, but I didn't bulge. I was so scared that my blood would puff out at once if I dropped my hand.“I know you are
Devlin POVI didn’t know what got into me. I didn’t know what pushed me to the verge of giving in to my rage. I didn’t just stop there, I choked her to the wall, and now I had injured her.My sharp claws dug in so deep, and I didn’t even realize it until I heard drops of blood on the floor. I cringed at the sight of it. Not only did I feel pain for seeing the cuts on her neck, but I also felt pain cursing through my veins due to the mate bond.I didn’t even try to resist, knowing I deserved it all. I even wanted someone to punch me in the face as my senses seemed to be going out of control.“Get out!” Sarah yelled at me from behind, and the urge to fight her back wasn’t there. I knew what I had done was wrong, so I could only tuck my head back in as I silently walked out of the place drowning in my thoughts.I got out of the door, but my conscience didn’t let me walk far away. I wanted to stay around and make sure Elora was well.“You have worsened everything!” My wolf snorted in my h
Devlin POV“Alpha, what is going on?” Rebecca was the first who asked, looking tense. She would be the one to start the gossiping, as I knew her to have a very long mouth. She always sticks her nose where she never should, and now she has made things worse for me.“You will find out soon!” I said, staring daggers at her, Mike, and Rose. They all became stiff as they lowered their heads looking at each other in shock. It wouldn’t be advisable for me to just attack them head-on in front of the pack, or maybe punish them when I had no valid proof. I knew it was them, but how do I make it convincing to the others that it was them?“Come at me!” I said with a gesture with my palm while smiling but they knew it was too dangerous. Mike had started vibrating while the ladies started pacing backward.“What have they done?”“Why does the Alpha want to fight them?”Whispers went around as they stared at me suspiciously, but I had to make sure it wasn’t obvious, so I decided to make the situation
Elora POVBang! Bang! The door was banged open, startling me up, and I was forced out of bed.“Who’s that?” I asked in fright, bracing myself for what was yet to come.Crack! The door came open and Sarah walked in, panting hard like she had run a marathon. Her chest was heaving heavily, as though her heart would erupt out of her chest. Fear was glinting in her eyes and she didn’t stop until she held my arms.“What’s wrong? Are we under attack or what?” I asked worriedly.“No, it's Devlin. I believe he will kill some warriors.” She said while I squinted my eyes at her as I didn’t feel like it was relevant to me in any way.It was his pack. He was entitled to do whatever he wanted with it and even burn it down to chunks if he wanted to, and I wouldn’t stop him. All I cared about was escaping, and I wouldn’t let anything come my way.“So? That’s the reason you barged in here, startling me?” I shrugged her away looking uninterested, and she was taken aback. Her body turned cold as she st
Elora POVI had a wolf? Was that a joke or what? All my life I knew I didn’t so what the heck was he talking about? Or maybe he was trying to make me feel okay in the center of the crowd?“What are you saying?” I pushed his hands away and a look of disgust emerged in my eyes. “Do I look like a joke to you?” I grumbled.“No. Look at your eyes!” He said, pushing forward to grab my face while I leaned backward, staring at him in shock. Not only he, but everyone seemed to be staring deeply into my eyes as though they were lost in them.Turning towards Sarah, she wasn't exempted. I could feel her hand shivering underneath mine, and she seemed to have lost her confidence.“Sarah what’s wrong!” I asked, tugging her forward, but she pulled her hand quickly and tried to calm herself to regain her senses.“Didn’t you realize how loud your scream was? It wasn’t your voice but that of your wolf.” Devlin explained, but the more he did, the more I felt lost, and my thoughts felt like a puzzle for
Devlin POVStaring at Lucian, I was trying hard to hold myself from lunging at him once more and slamming him right on the floor to shut his mouth up but doing so would worsen the situation. After what I had done to Mike, Rose, and Rebecca, doing something more would paint me as a bad image to the others. Already I could sense their fears in the air not long ago, but now it seemed to be replaced with something else.Lucian had won their support. Even though he was right, it wasn’t supposed to come from him. I was the Alpha. I was supposed to make the rule and anything I said here was the law, yet he had to come up and wreck this up for me.I felt infuriated and my wolf was begging to come outside so he could shut them up and make Lucian know his place. But then I shoved him off to look at Elora, who I clung to my chest possessively.“You have to…” I started but couldn’t finish after seeing the look of fear emerge in her eyes. Instantly I could tell she didn’t know what happened to her
Delvin's POVIt was a few hours now that I had killed mother for being deceitful and wicked. While I sat across the bench, different thoughts invaded my mind and I started reasoning all she had said to me. If she could be this wicked, then she certainly must have lied about everything else she advised me against. I rushed at the doctor and as I got into his room, he shook terribly and tried to run away from the room but I slammed the door shut and held a knife to his throat. He sighed carefully, trying to ask what he did wrong but I rather asked him. "What didn't you do wrong you fool?!" I questioned him, ensuring the knife gets closer to his neck so he would confess on time. "I...I truly..." He said and then kept quiet. I kicked him on the legs and he fell to the ground. Without hesitation, I stabbed him in the legs and he groaned painfully. "I would do that again if you don't tell me the fucking truth now!!" I screamed at him. It seemed like he had been informed that my mother h
Delvin's POVIt was as though someone was manipulating her to speak up her mind. It was as though her cunning abilities and whatever magic she was using, had failed her. I chuckled as she came close but I made Elora stay behind me, so nothing bad would happen to her. Judging from her dark expressions, I was already getting scared of her but I patiently waited for all she would say. "So i came to your pack to get this healer wolf but I couldn't! That's why I came to your pack!!" She laughed at me like though she had successfully fooled me. Elora was quietly speaking behind for me to be quiet and not say anything yet no matter how I'm triggered to say it. "We wouldn't listen to her well now. Remember that you need to confirm from two sides about what's happening. Listen to her words and realize who you have brought into the pack. Didn't I tell you she was coming to cause chaos?" She said and at the end of her words, I silenced her, telling her we shouldn't assume anything. Deep down
Delvin's POVI stared around and counted the rogues. Elora stood right behind me as well as we watched the rogues. I tried to study their intention and luckily, I knew about it immediately. They were literally trying to take Elora away from me. While I haven't even verified that yet, one of them walked towards me to declare their intention and then they would leave. "Release Elora to us and let us go." He said to me. I wasn't particularly sure if he was speaking in English or perhaps his words were a bit muffled. Or his English accent wasn't clear enough. It wasn't coherent to the ears. "I should release Elora to you? That'll be the last thing that'll happen. Come take her and let me see!" I screamed at him, but he cautioned his men not to fight yet and then he turned towards me like though he was about to give me some last warning. "We can take both you and your pack down within a few seconds and everything will be ruined. Why not consider our request and save yourself?""I'm not
Delvin's POVI felt hurt after realizing that my suspicions towards my mom could be actually true. She could have threatened to kill Sarah indeed but for trying to sit on the fence and not revealing the total truth, I felt bad. She's like a mother figure to me and so she shouldn't be hiding anything from me. As long as someone has falsified the truth, it would be truly hard to believe the person again.I took a deep breath and sat on the bed and then Daniel stepped forwards and stood in front of me, trying to console me about all that happened. "I think you should be more calm at this moment. I really understand how you're feeling and about Sarah? I don't think you should have chased her out like that. She confessed the truth about being threatened and that's why she lied to you. Now that the mother isn't around, she could say the truth." Daniel said to me and I held my head with my two palms, trying to regain sanity. I was already feeling mad by all what was going on. "I think we h
Delvin's POVI saw everything that happened. I saw a knife in Elora's hands. She literally wanyed to stab my mother. Because she was only telling the truth, she was trying to kill her. How dare hee. I felt a wave of hurt and betrayal wash through me as I moved towards her. A single tear didn't drop from my eyes but deep down within me, I was shaking with tears. How would she do this? She has actually committed a lot of stuff for me to believe anything anyone said to her. Pulling her but her neck, Ioged her towards her room and flung her there. She wouldn't cause more havoc in the pack in my presence. If everything that had been happening was actually narrated to me, then I would doubt it as I didn't earlier think she could do this. She was about explaining how it all happened but I placed a finger on my lips and locked her up in the room. What was she trying to say? She was definitely trying to justify her actions when I caught her red handed. She had just tried to kill the mother
Elora's POVI was walking across the hallway, passing by some rooms to cool music head because of the many things that has troubled me recently, and then I heard someone moaning somewhere not far from where I stood. I traced the sound till I got to this particular room, more like a guest room. Not everyone can go in there. It has to be Delvin or someone who is in some high rank in the pack. I checked through the windows that weren't properly closed as I saw how Delvin was spanking denica and she was moaning delightfully.I waited there for up to half an hour to confirm what I was seeing. They changed positions, and I was able to see their faces clearly. It was as though delvin had sighted me, I had no other thought than to go visit Olivia again. She was the best and literally the only person that was going to listen to me at this point. I took a deep breath and ran towards her place, trying not to reveal my emotions through my face. As I got in there, she pulled me into a firm hug
Delvin's POVI began to feel bad and awful that I had kept my mother hanging all this while. She had purposely told me that Elora was barren but I didn't believe it. It was next to test Danica, but I'm not more certain than probable that she might be pregnant for me. I started to reason with her now, as I felt a move to go apologize to her for retorting boldly like though I knew more than she did. "Since Danica was going to give me a child, shouldn't I start caring for her instead?" I asked myself as I stood inside my room and then the memories of all the times I was caring for Elora and even saved her from the hands of Kace, retuned to my head and I took a deep sigh. I should have been doing this for Elora ever since. And then my mother walked in. I knew she wasn't specifically angry at me since she knew I was a leader and I should have my point as well. I knew she would be glad as well that I took her suggestions seriously and carried out the test. She stared at me as I was moody
Elora's POVMy heart was thumping fast as I narrowed my gaze at the doctor, pleading with him to check it again. "Please run the tests again. This can't be so!! Please!" I screamed at him, tears pricking around the corners of my eyes. I understood the implication of being barren and especially when you wouldn't tell the man you're mated to, about it.."Do you mean my machine is full of error? Hey woman, my machine didn't lie. You're barren. What that means is you can't bear any children till your last breath." He said, explaining the nitty-gritty of the concept. I heaved a deep sigh and tried to get up to grab his legs and beg him to do so, not minding if he would request extra payment for his service. "Mr. Doctor, you can be on your way. Running the tests again isn't going to change anything. Please be on your way. It's not necessary. She's barren and I'm glad we both know that now. Hanging in the air ain't no joke." Delvin said and the doctor bowed his head, before he walked out o
Elora's POVI eventually decided to visit Olivia as I didn't have another place to go. She was my only friend in the pack and I trusted my secrets with her. She would listen to me and advise me like a mother. "She doesn't like me. I am telling you. If I'm sugarcoating my words, may the moon goddess strike me. She doesn't like me one bit." I complained bitterly to her, but she was only sighing, patiently waiting for me to complete my words before she would advise me based on what I've said."I didn't even know how she came to the pack. It was just an afternoon when Delvin was busy with me. He came to summon me to come meet his mother and I never insulted her until she raised her voice at me, calling me names. What exactly did I wrong? I can't point to anything bad I've done. Should I narrate everything that happened and then you judge who is right and who is wrong?" I said to her, laying myself in bed as I was even too tired to sit up in bed and tell h e about everything."I understan
