Chapter 2

Scarlett POV

My heart thumped in my chest as cold sweat ran down my spine, “Could this be the result of what happened to me during the mate bonding ceremony?” I muttered to myself in fear as my greatest fear had finally caught up with me.

The worst part is, I didn't even know who I slept with. How am I going to explain this in a way that people won't think that I committed an atrocity?

Father gave me a dangerous glare that made me shrink in fear. To say he was angry would be an understatement, he was furious, "You are pregnant?" He asked, looking at me with disappointment. 

I avoided his gaze, "I.. I.. umm..." I stuttered. 

" Don't tell me that, you defiled the tradition and slept with Alpha Carlos before your wedding?" He thundered furiously, getting raged.

It's the first time Father will ever spark at me. 

His words got me shivering, including the doctor, who had his eyes bulging out at the sound of my father's voice. 

I could see his hands trembling. He couldn't speak further but drew back, just in case Father was about to lash out some more.

I shook my head, "No father, he hasn't  touched me." I said with tears rolling down my cheek. 

"Tell me! Who's the father?" Father questioned.  

 "Alpha, be calm. I'm sure it's a simple matter to solve." Doctor said, 

"I don't know the father." I blurted out, leaving everyone in shock. 

"WHAT?!" Father exclaimed in horror.

The doctor raised his head and said, "Oh. I... I think I'll take my leave now," he was carefully taking his bags to leave as It was clear my response had frozen them to the point of no help.

Father cast a murderous gaze at him and he shrunk on his spot, trembling. 

I explained to my father what happened to me and how I slept with a stranger during the mate-bonding ceremony.  

He looked at me worriedly as he was now a little bit calm, " And you kept all this to yourself? Why don't you tell me? " He asked with fear. 

" I couldn't say anything because I was scared of what was going to happen to me," I said, with teary eyes. 

" You should have confided in me. Did you know that you could get banished from this land because of this? " He said, massaging his temple as he paced forth and back in the room.

He saw my teary eyes and motioned me to come closer to him and he gave me a warm hug as I broke down in tears, crying uncontrollably in his embrace. 

"Shhh... It's okay my princess, I'm here for you." He consoled me, patting my pack. 

Raising my gaze at him, "What am I going to do Father? I don't want to lose Alpha Carlos." I asked, choking on my words. 

"You will not lose him dearly, we are going to figure things out." he said, wiping my tears, "Let this remain between us, no one must hear about this." He instructed. 

"Yes Alpha, you can trust me." The doctor said, bowing his head before leaving. 

Father gazed at me, wiping my tears, "You must not mention this to Alpha Carlos, I'm going to find a way to tell him after your wedding okay?" He instructed me, with a smile. 

"Okay, father," I said. 

He kissed my forehead before I left for my room. 

……… 

I was about to open my door when I heard footsteps from behind. 

I spun around to see who it was and I saw Alpha Carlos Beta, Philip pacing towards me, "Good day my princess.” he greeted me while I nodded in response. 

"Alpha Carlos asked me to give this to you," he said with a smile, handing me a small red box. 

I stretched my hand and collected it from him, "Thank you." I whisper. 

He looked at me with a smile, “ My princess, you look beautiful.” he complimented, making me blush before he left. 

I stepped into the room and opened the box, I was astonished to see what was inside. It contains a golden bracelet that was well designed with golden stones and a letter attached to it that read, "I thank the moon goddess for bringing you to me. This is my mother's bracelet that was passed to her by my grandmother. I want you to have it as my future Luna. I can't wait to have you by my side. I love you.."  

" l love you too," I whispered, with tears glistening in my eyes. 

I held the letter close to my heart and wept bitterly. 

How am I going to tell him that I am carrying another person's child? My heart weighed heavy in my chest as I couldn't contain the pain, and hit my chest in frustration. 

I wept silently and promised to tell him immediately after our wedding.

The day of my wedding finally arrived. 

I was nervous and felt a knot in my stomach that had refused to go. 

"Wow! You looked beautiful my princess." one of the maids that was dressing me complimented me with a smile. 

"Thank you," I responded, sadly. 

"Don't be sad my princess, this is what you've always prayed for. You should be happy that the moon goddess mated you with a strong Alpha" Vanessa cheers me up, with a smile. 

"Smile!" the maids chorus. 

I blushed as I mustered a weak smile on my face, making them all laugh. 

The door knob swung open and Luna stepped in with Jane. 

"I can see you've dressed up," Luna said, looking at me with disgust. 

"Yes, Your Highness," I said, coldly. 

she smirks, trailing her hands on my face,

"I have prepared a special gift for you" 

"I can't wait to see her face after seeing your precious gift Mother!" Jane added with an evil grin. 

"I looked forward to the gift of your highness,"  I said to Luna. 

They both looked at each other and laughed out loud before leaving. 

……… 

The full moon was out, brightening the whole place as it was buzzing with people from different packs. 

I was standing with my father, as the guest awaited my arrival. 

"Relax my princess, everything will be fine," Father said, holding my hand and squeezing it gently. 

My arrival was announced and I came out with my father. 

The crowds cheered me up, clapping their hands as I walked on the red carpet with my father, holding my hand. 

Alpha Carlos was standing with Philip, beside the priest. 

He winked at me with a bright smile, making my heart skip a beat as I felt butterflies dancing within me. 

We stopped when we got to the priest and 

Father squeezed my hand as he gave me a reassuring smile before he left and took a seat beside Luna. 

I was standing alone, facing Alpha Carlos as the priest proceeded with the ritual. 

We exchanged our vows and we were about to start the final ritual which was the bonding ritual when we heard "Stop!" 

Everywhere went silent as everyone gazed around to see where the voice came out from. 

My heart almost jumped out of my mouth as the knot in my stomach increased. 

A man wearing black with a hat rose from the back, "This ceremony can not be held." he altered, 

I shivered in fear as cold sweat ran down my spine and I held Carlos's hand tightly as my knees became weak. 

Carlos frowned, glaring at the man murderously, "Who are you and why can't this wedding be held?" He asked, impatiently. 

"Who I am is not important, but did you know that, your beautiful bride is..." he said, looking at me with an evil grin.

"This is your gift." the man gestured with his mouth. 

What! 

Is this the gift Luna was talking about?
