I try to hold back the tears that sting the corner of my eyes. Ezra’sand Venus’s presence calm me down and remind me that I can’t break down right now. But my heart can’t take it. It's a lot.

A lot has happened today.

I found my mother, the one I hoped would be happy to see me. Instead, I learned that she hates me and didn’t even want to give birth to me. On top of that, she’s Nixie’s mother too.

“Don’t worry, Mommy. You get some rest and I will look after Veenie,” Ezra says and places his palm on my face. His warm touch is like a soothing balm and I hold onto it.

The corner of my lip tugs up in a small smile. “I know. You are such a good boy. Mommy loves you.” I press a kiss on his forehead.
