250 : Nothing But A Mistake

The world seems to freeze as I take in the sigh before me. My mother, alive and standing before me. A wave of emotions wash over me, a tsunami of joy, disbelief, and confusion.

Even Joshua and Irene look horrified on seeing her.

I long to embrace her, to feel the warmth of her touch, to hear voice, a comfort I had thought I lost forever. Only Rena was able to give me that comfort when she came into my life.

But as I take a step forward, she raises a hand as a gesture to stop me. “Don’t come any closer,” she says, her voice a cold, distant echo. The men who surround us point their wolfsbane laced daggers at me.

My heart sinks. Her words pierce me to the core. I have yearned for this moment, for the chance to reunite her. When she was dead, I prayed to the Moon Goddess every single day to bring her back to me. She was my world, my happiness and everything. When I lost her, I became cold and distant.

Now that she’s here, she is pushing me away. Why?
