ELIJAHHe charges at me, his eyes flashing, showing his wolf on the surface. He growls and slams his body into me like a bull, throwing me towards the forest. My head collides with a tree trunk, making me groan in pain. The leaves cascade down the trees on me as I get up and hear Cyrus’s footsteps squelch against the mud. Joshua, Irene and the twins are battling the king’s men, keeping them from attacking me. I am confident with Josh and Irene’s skills, but the twins are new to this. ELIJAHI wash my hands in the sink and splash some water on my face. Then I pull my phone out and the wallpaper of Venus sleeping in the crib flashes before me. Ezra is standing beside her crib, showing the victory sign with his two fingers. My lips curl in a faint smile. Rena clicked the picture of the two and sent it to Isabella who then sent it to me in a secured file. The most interesting part is that Ezra made this file secure using his knowledge regarding computer science. My son is a freaking genius. I can’t wait to see them again. ELIJAHThe moment Joshua says Cyrus escaped, I hear a crashing sound and the ground before us explodes. The explosion throws us behind and I land on the ground with Joshua and the rest. “They know we are here,” I tell Joshua and growl as I stand on my paws. Before we can take a step forward, more explosions happen, causing more wolves to be thrown back or injured by the bombs that are thrown at us. I howl at the other wolves, asking them to follow me. The wolves turn towards me and I take the path towards my right that leads straight into the forest. Our paths are bombarded, making it difficult to reach the forest but I keep my pace fast. Once we reach the forest, I signal them to scatter. “Make two groups. One that will charge through the front gate and the other through the back. Be careful and keep an eye out for the king’s guards.” I tell them through my howls since I can’t mind-link with the rest of the wolves of the other packs. Two groups are made. ELIJAH I shift into Rolf’s form again and charge at them. Sharp pain shoots through my shoulder as one of them hits me with a dagger made out of silver and laced with wolfsbane. I ignore the pain my claws rips through his flesh. Irene and Joshua help me battle the men. I throw a few of them across the hallway, making their bodies crash against the furniture and sculptures. A deep growl rips from my throat, mixing with the yells of the fight. But this growl feels different, dark and hungry, urging me to tear these guys apart. ‘Kill them all. They must bow to you.’ A voice whispers in my head. It's the same voice again. I shake my head hard, gotta focus. I'm here to reach the King, not rip everyone to shreds. Just as I pounce on another attacker, a new, eerie growl cuts through the air. It's not like a normal wolf growl, it's cold and terrifying. ELIJAH He asks me as if my wolf form is capable of answering him. Idiot. Nile’s eyes glaze over as he communicates with his comrades. Probably to take care of the Ashwalkers. His eyes narrow when they fall on us. I look at his hand. He’s holding a syringe. Cyrus huffs and turns to the guards. “Your duty was to kill them. Why aren’t they dead by now? You all don’t deserve to be the king’s guards when you can’t protect him. ” He hisses, his voice hoarse. For the first time, I don’t see a smug smile on his face. But I am noticing something else. He’s looking past them, as if he’s expecting something. Or someone. I shift back and speak. “Good to see you here, Cyrus.” I taunt. “I thought finding you would be a chore. ELIJAH I take a step closer to Nile. “Out of all the people who follow the king, you are the one who has the balls to challenge his authority. If you think we are the enemy, then go ahead and fight us. But…” I look at Rowan. “You know very well you won’t win.” I declare and Nile’s fist clenches. He knows it. They have already lost.
