"I can't wait to show Luke and Benjamin around our enormous mansion," Drake said, and I giggled.

"Well, I can't wait to bring Marlin to my playhouse too, then we can have a tea party with my new best friend Dori," Aurora said.

"Well that's such a great idea, can I come to the tea party too?" I made a cute face.

"Yes Mum, I think we have an extra chair for you," Aurora muttered.

After the children had finished opening their presents, we all went to the dining room table for breakfast.

Later in the afternoon we had some friends over and then we all celebrated the kids' birthday, taking so many pictures and having so much fun. We ended up feeling so tired but happy because it was such a special day for me and my children. Seeing my children grow up so quickly made me wonder how time flies, six years ago seems like yesterday.

I felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on me—not just for Darlene and Aurora, but for my two sons back home, who must be worrying about us. Hours had passed since we left, and the thought of them waiting, anxious and alone, fueled my resolve.“Darlene, stay quiet,” I whispered, my eyes scanning the dim corridor for any sign of escape. We don’t know how many guards are out there.”He nodded, and I watched as he moved cautiously toward the body. I kept my eyes on the entrance, ready to alert him if anyone approached. The man lay still, the remnants of life extinguished in a single gunshot. I suppressed a shudder as I thought about how close we had come to a similar fate. Cullian knelt beside him, carefully unbuttoning the uniform jacket. “Here goes nothing,” he murmured, stripping off the jacket and shirt.
