“No." I muttered in disbelief.
The crowd cheered and clapped, I felt my stomach churning and it was too sudden and quick, I threw up.
“Eww." Someone beside me said.
I stood up and started running away in shame.
The night was cold and I didn't have any soul left in me, it can't be possible, they couldn't get engaged after one week of meeting, I went back to my parents house.
One step inside and my sister Tiffany started laughing.
“She's back." My sister announced.
They must have heard what happened from my aunt.
“What a disgrace." My father said to me, I really thought that I could prove to him that I was capable of making him proud, but now shame befell upon me, as I was discarded by Conri.
I climbed the staircase to my bedroom, when I shut the door, I sat and rested my back against it and cried.
I found the strength to take a shower and I slept.
***
I woke up with a headache and nausea, I could not lift any of my limbs. I thought that maybe I had hurt myself from all the hard labour I had been enduring for a week.
I drove myself to the hospital and the test result was different than I expected, I stared at it in joy and bewilderment.
My joy knew no bounds as I stared at the pregnancy result in my hand, it was positive, I was pregnant.
I could not wait to go home and share the good news with Conri, maybe after I inform him that I was carrying his own baby, he would come back to his senses and send Juliette away, he would top it all by putting a ring on my finger and I would officially be a member of his pack.
I would be the most fulfilled person in the entire world. I could barely believe this.
I drove into the garage, I could smell Conri and my wolf could barely hold herself back. I parked carelessly and ran to the living room, he was at my house, after I left he must have come to his senses and come to look for me.
“Conri." I said In happiness as I jumped on Conri's laps, he did not hug me back. His whole aura was cold and frightening....
I looked at his face and I slowly stood up from his laps, I remembered how he had pushed me away some few days ago because I hugged him.
If he was not here to apologize to me, then why was he here?.
“What's wrong?." I asked looking around, my eyes fell on Juliette that was staring at me with disgust and hate
I looked down to see that she was holding hands with Conri, he was gripping her hand tightly. I saw their engagement ring, it was still in their fingers.
“Darlene, sit we have something to discuss." He said icicy.
I felt my heart stop and then it started again.
“Conri remember that I'm your mate." I told him trying to touch his shoulder but his frown sent me away.
“Conri?..." I asked in disbelief, is he really just going to push me away?
" You're not going to be my mate for long." He informed me
“No, I need to wake up from the nightmare. It can't be... No!." I cried, my world was crumbling before my very eyes.
I turned to my father.
“You're a such a shame, I can't believe I produced such a useless daughter." He told me.
“What did I do wrong, please tell me." I pleaded going in front of Conri and I fell on my knees.
This nightmare was staring to seem like a reality.
“Do it, Conri, end it and free yourself from this pathetic piece of trash." Juliette said.
“I Alpha Conri McShawn..." He started saying, I never knew this day would come.
Tears slipped past my eyes as I touched my belly with my hands, the first thought I had was to end myself for good, but, life was growing within me.
“I reject you Darlene McGuire as my mate."
“Accept his rejection!." Juliette ordered me urgently, I placed my oms together.
“Please, Conri, please I'm begging you, don't do this to me." My heart was eating itself up.
" Accept my rejection!." He yelled pulling my hair.
I cried.
“I Darlene McGuire, accept your rejection." I said and he released me and pushed me to the ground.
My head hit the hardwood floor and I felt my skin tear at the temple..
“Pick your bags and leave." My father demanded harshly.
" I had already packed it for you." My sister who was a strong Luna said with a laugh . " You're so worthless, here I was thinking that maybe you we would try to manage you. Leave and never show your face again." She warned with a glare.
" The rules are very easy to follow, if you return, it would be ruled out as trespassing and any member of our pack have every right to kill you." My mother said. " Such a disgrace." She spat.
“She has ruined the image of this family, you've already been banished now leave this territory!." My father screamed walking towards me with his hands raised, ready to strike me.
I tripped on my luggage as I tried to run away from his hit, I fell.
I heard laughter behind me, I got up on my knees and cleaned my tears with the back of my palm.
I picked up my luggage and threw one more glance at Conri, he looked disgusted by me as if I had a fatal contaminated disease.
“Don't try to join any other packs, they won't accept you, we've warned them about you."
I was made a rogue, in the twinkle of an eye, my life was changed.
I walked to the car as slowly as I could waiting for someone to call me back and tell me it's a prank, I was waiting in my car till I heard the warning howls of the Alphas, they could smell me and since I was a terrorist they would take much pleasure in clawing me apart.
I was weak and defenseless, I drove off placing my hand on my belly.
“Hang on little one, it's only me and you now." I whispered.
I heard my stomach grumbling, then the churning, twisting sensation returned. It had been going on for the last two hours, I had forgotten to bring my credit card with me, not that anyone even gave me the chance to bring it, they had packed my bag for me and left me without a single penny. I did not care much about myself, it was the pup I was worried about. I exited the car and stared straight at the restaurant, I didn't have any money in my pocket.I walked into the restaurant, it looked fancier than other restaurants I had seen on the way, I stopped in front of the counter.“Can I get your order?." The lady asked me.I cleared my throat, shame washed through me for what I was about to do.“Hi, good day... I don't have any money with me but I'm very hungry... Please believe me, I'm not looking for free handouts, I can work for my food... I can do the dishes, serve some customers for a while, anything." I said trying my best to hold the tears at the corner of my eyes from falling.T
I cried out in pain. The plastic bag I was carrying had torn and the plate had cracked, the contents were spilled on the ground. My hope for breakfast was gone. I was angry and hurt, I wanted to teach this man a lesson. The man stood above me, smiling.“How rude to run away from a gentleman." He said, his voice was filled with sarcasms. It was times like this I wished I was a Luna. I growled at the man.He threw his head back in laughter.I tried standing up but he brought his foot to my face and pressed it against my cheek, the under of his shoes smelt like dirt, I tried my best to push his leg out of my face but in return he pressed it harder.I yelled and he kicked my face.“If I hear even a whimper from you... I'm gonna break you into two." He warned.I was quiet, his threats didn't seem like bluff to me, he lifted me from the ground and pulled me towards the alley.I fought him, kicked his leg and lunged towards him, he pushed me away from him, raised his hand in the air and th
Cullian's POVI feel someone's stare at me, when I turn to the door, the girl from yesterday is standing there, immediately she sees me, she scurries away from the door.I walk to where she's standing, her back is pressed to the wall as if she's the paint, her eyes are casted downwards. I tower over her, I like the way my shirt eat her up, I like the fact that I'm much more bigger than her, she's small in size compared to me.“How do you feel?." I asked her and her shoulders trembled at the sound of my voice, she looked up at me and I'm captivated by the ocean blue of her eyes. She looked down to her feet quickly, her fingers grabbing the edge of the shirt I had changed her into earlier, she looked sexy in my clothe, too sexy, I wanted to touch her.I cleared my throat and fisted my hands into my pockets at both sides of my trouser. “I'm fine... Thank you for saving me." She said, her voice was soft and sweet. She looked up at me again, gratitude in her eyes but it is quickly replace
“Wait what?!“ I asked him in shock, my mouth flew open. Was that even possible?. “What's wrong?“ he moved a step backwards, his calm face suddenly replaced with a frown. Of course everything was wrong, I was a rouge and soon to be a mother. All I wanted was to find a way to take care of I and my pup alone, not this!“Mr Cullian, I don't think that what you are asking would be possible, all I want right now is to leave, and i do appreciate your help last night,” I said facing downwards, I couldn't meet his eyes, those glowing amber eyes could make me change my mind.“Well, I'll give you some time to think about it then.” He said, I looked up at him in astonishment. Didn't he hear what I just said? He gave me a warm smile, before walking out.I became dumbfounded. My Alpha mate had just dumped me for a Luna who was more stronger, prettier, I mean everything than me, how then would a powerful, wealthy and charming Lycan king like Cullian ask me to marry him in just a few hours of meeting
Cullian's POV.“Yes, I'll be your wife” I wasn't sure I heard her right.“But only till you have secured the position, then we can split ways, deal?“ I nodded my head, too shocked by her acceptance that I couldn't speak. She stretched her hand towards me for a hand shake. This time her eyes were intently fixed on mine.“Deal,” I managed to respond while I returned the shake. I hoped that she didn't hear my voice crack a little from being too overwhelmed, goddamn! This was only a contract marriage with this woman and i was this excited. I tried to comport myself by standing up straight, so I turned to her one more time.“I will inform my lawyer to bring the contract for you to sign,” I said to her as I watched Melinda come in with some shopping bags containing Darlene's clothes.A few hours later, my lawyer arrived with the contract and we both signed them, we were now legally husband and wife, the contract was to last for two years, and that was it, Just two years. After the meeting

It was raining heavily.Oh wait! I noticed a figure laying close to me, not just close to me, I could feel his hands wrapped around me. No way! He was cuddling me?“You're awake, I heard him say, slowly he bent to plant a kiss on my forehead, it was gentle and soft, it sent a warm fuzzy feeling down my spine. Reluctantly, he released me from his grip and he sat up, I was still laying down, i looked up to see this handsome man glancing down at me, there was excitement in his sparkling Amber eyes, our eyes were both locked in each others, i didn't want to look away either, why was he gazing at me lik
I went back to my room, sat on the bed heaving a deep breath. What was I expecting? Besides, a handsome man like Cullian had the right to have as many mistresses as he wanted. But why did I seem to care? Why could I feel such jealousy burning inside of me? I seemed to be forgetting I was only here for a contract marriage, and in three years time we would be out of each other's lives. I was only doing this for the money, right? “Stop worrying Darlene, it's only for the money,” I whispered, convincing myself.“Here is your cup of milk, I hope you won't change your mind again,” I turned to glance at Cullian as he made his way into the room, he was holding a tray, and on top was a cup of milk and a plate of cookies. “How did he know I was also craving cookies?“I tried to force a smile but I think he had noticed my mood, Or rather it was me who couldn't hide my feelings.“Is everything alright?” he asked, placing the trey on the bed.“Why are you pretending to care Cullian? after all I'm
in a split second Cullian was already in her. He had taken Darlene in a sharp thrust, her hands got hold of the sheet grabbing it so hard like her whole body was about to be drowned, her legs wrapped around Cullian's waist, drawing him nearer…. Deeper into her.The sharp loud thumping of both their bodies. Clasping together, Echoed the state of Darlene's own.She could feel their souls set ablaze, was this love? No, was this really how it felt?Soon Darlene's eyes were closed again, the moves became grander. More sophisticated, more passionate. Each moves we're special and unique. A memorable moment. The sound of their heartbeat had taken control of the room. The rhythmic thrusting started out a song, A tune that was only comprehensible by both their souls, linked in one flesh and spirit. Both their souls set out the tune for their bodies to follow, and they obeyed, moving graciously.“Darlene, you're mine, mine alone, you're not leaving me,” Cullian whispered into Darlene's ears.CU
DARLENE'S POV. The weight of Conri’s voice lingered in my mind as I stood frozen by the phone. Panic surged within me, but I couldn’t let fear take hold of me—not here, not now. I and Cullian had fought too hard for this peace. “Mommy?” Aurora’s voice broke through my thoughts. I turned to see her standing in the doorway, concern etched on her face. I couldn’t let her see my fear. “Just a minute, sweetie!” I called out, forcing a smile. I needed to focus on what mattered, my husband—my children, my family. Cullian walked out of the kitchen agaim, his brow furrowed with worry. “Darlene, what’s wrong?” “It was nothing, just a client,” I lied, pushing down the knot in my stomach. I didn’t want to ruin the evening with my fears. “Alright,” He nodded, but I could still see the concern in his eyes. As i made my way upstairs, my children ran around me, I tried to join in, but my thoughts kept drifting back to Conri. How could he still be alive? ——— We had dinner together, a
DARLENE'S POVA month had passed since we moved back home, and life haven't felt as peaceful.l as it feels now. I now enjoyed my daily routine—mornings filled with laughter, long days at work, and cozy evenings with my family. It was everything I had fought for, and I was thankful for it all.As I walked through the front door, tired from a long day, I felt the stress begin to melt away because I could hear the sounds of my kids laughing in the living room, which made me smile.“Mummy!” Aurora shouted, her little feet rushing toward me. I dropped my bag and knelt down, arms wide open to receive her.“Hey, my little sunshine!” I hugged her tightly. Drake and Blake soon joined us, their faces lit with excitement.“Did you bring us anything?” Blake asked, his big eyes sparkling.“Just this,” I said, ruffling his hair which made him giggle. Just then, Cullian appeared from the kitchen, a towel over his shoulder and a grin on his face.“Welcome home!” he said, his voice warm and invitin
CULLIAN'S POV.The room felt like a battleground, the air filled with the scent of sweat and blood. Every breath I took tasted metallic. Conri loomed before me. His eyes burned with a relentless rage.As we clashed again, pain shot through my body. Conri’s claws raked across my side, tearing through flesh and fur. I winced, feeling the warm trickle of blood pooling beneath my pelt. Each strike from him felt like a hammer against my bones, and I struggled to keep my footing. 'I can’t let him win. I can’t let him take them from me.'“Is this all you’ve got?” Conri mocked, his breath hot and foul. “You’re just prolonging the inevitable.” The taunt stung more than the wounds he inflicted.I lunged at him, desperation fueling my movements. I managed to catch his flank with my teeth, but he retaliated with a brutal snap of his jaws. His teeth sank into my shoulder, and I let out a growl of pain, the sharpness of his bite sending shockwaves through my body. 'How much longer can I endure this
Darlene's POVDarlene couldn't stop walking around room in Hawaii, her heart racing. They had flown here seeking safety and peace, but now a heavy weight of dread settled in her chest. Cullian had promised to protect them, and yet he hadn’t answered her calls. “Mummy, is Daddy coming back soon?” Blake’s small voice broke through her thoughts.Darlene knelt beside her son, forcing a smile. “Yes, sweetie. Daddy will be back soon. He just has some important things to take care of.” But inside, her anxiety grew. She had tried calling Cullian several times, each unanswered ring echoing in her mind. The air felt charged, as if a storm was brewing. Darlene’s instincts screamed that something was wrong. She could feel it deep in her bones. The thought of Cullian facing danger alone made her stomach twist. “Why won’t he answer?” she murmured, glancing at Blake, who seemed to sense her worry. “Is he okay?” Blake asked, his eyes wide with concern.“I hope so, honey. I really hope so.” Darlene
Cullian paced, his heart racing. He could sense something was off; the air was thick with tension. Suddenly, a loud crash broke in. Cullian rushed to the window, his instincts screaming at him. He saw figures moving in the darkness—his guards. They were fighting, but one by one, they fell, taken down swiftly by an unseen force. "Conri…" Cullian muttered under his breath. He knew him too well, and he knew this was no ordinary attack. Just as Cullian turned to grab his jacket, a loud bang echoed through the front door. It burst open, and there stood Conri, his presence dominating the room. He was alone, but his aura was enough to fill the space with dread. Cullian’s jaw clenched. “You shouldn’t have come here, Conri.”“I had to see you one last time before I end this,” Conri replied, a smirk on his lips. The two men faced each other, tension crackling in the air. Cullian stepped forward, fists clenched. “You think you can just walk in here and threaten my family?”Conri chuckled da
As I neared the exit, I knew I would do whatever it took to find her. Nothing would stand in my way.DARLENE'S POV.“Mummy! Daddy!” Drake and Blake shouted in unison as they raced toward us. My heart melted as they enveloped Cullian and me in a tight embrace, their warmth a stark contrast to the chilling events that had just unfolded. We had literally escaped death. It was heartbreaking to realize that, for a moment, I had feared we might never see our children again. The thought lingered painfully in my mind, a reminder of how fragile our lives could be.Cullian knelt down, gently ruffling Blake's and Drake's hair with a tender smile. “I missed you so much, buddy,” he said, his voice filled with relief.“But Dad, why did you leave us all day? We woke up and couldn’t find you. Where did you three go?” Drake asked, his brows furrowed in confusion and concern.“We were kidnapped,” Aurora mumbled softly, her voice trembling. “But Dad came to save us,” she added, her eyes shining with adm
Cullian’s POVThe footsteps grew louder, each step a reminder of the danger we were in. I felt the weight of responsibility pressing down on me—not just for Darlene and Aurora, but for my two sons back home, who must be worrying about us. Hours had passed since we left, and the thought of them waiting, anxious and alone, fueled my resolve.“Darlene, stay quiet,” I whispered, my eyes scanning the dim corridor for any sign of escape. I could feel Aurora trembling against me, her small hands gripping my shirt tightly. I needed to reassure them both, but I had to stay focused. The guard’s footsteps paused just outside the door, and I held my breath, praying he wouldn’t turn back. I could see the tension in Darlene’s shoulders, and I wished I could ease her fears. If we were caught now, we would all be lost—my family’s safety depended on this moment.Just then, a faint noise caught my attention—an alarm blaring somewhere in the distance. The guard’s head snapped toward the sound, his expr
“Darlene,” he whispered, leaning closer, “I think I have an idea.”My breath hitched as I met his eyes. “What is it?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Cullian glanced back at the dead man sprawled on the ground a few feet away. “We can take his uniform. It’s a little tight, but it should work. I can sneak out past the guards if I look like one of them.”I nodded, understanding the urgency of our situation. “Okay, but be careful. We don’t know how many guards are out there.”He nodded, and I watched as he moved cautiously toward the body. I kept my eyes on the entrance, ready to alert him if anyone approached. The man lay still, the remnants of life extinguished in a single gunshot. I suppressed a shudder as I thought about how close we had come to a similar fate. Cullian knelt beside him, carefully unbuttoning the uniform jacket. “Here goes nothing,” he murmured, stripping off the jacket and shirt. I could see the muscles in his arms tense as he pulled the fabric over his he
The fight went on until...“Let my family go, you bastard!” Cullian yelled, pushing Conri out the window.“What’s going on? I heard noises,” Conri's mother rushed into the room, her gaze landing on Cullian.“Who the hell are you?! Guards!” Conri's mother yelled.“You shouldn’t worry about them. They’re all unconscious. I’m just here to get my wife and daughter,” Cullian said, breaking the chains from my hands and legs.Conri's mother didn’t know that her son had fallen out of the window. Cullian and I kept quiet because if she found out, we wouldn’t be leaving here.“Why, then, is the room a mess, and where is my son?” she asked, her gaze searching the room.Cullian ignored her, grabbing my hand. “Come on, Darlene, let’s go. We have to find Aurora,” he said. I nodded.“I think I know where she is,” I responded, getting down from the bed as we both walked out of the room, leaving Conri's mother dumbstruck.“Hey, I need to get my daughter back,” I said, approaching the maid. She looked
