Chapter 18

Vivian's POV

"What happened?" Chris said from beside me.

I gripped his arm. I wasn't afraid of the dark, but this was unsettling. A baby cried as the murmurs around us increased, and shouts came from the front of the auditorium. "Everyone stay calm!"

Alpha Zade was trying to calm the crowd. His aura washed over us, the panic settling in my stomach. Everything was going to be okay. I still held onto Chris's arm. He patted my hand. "It's okay."

I smiled at him in the dark. I felt better knowing that he was here with me. If anything, he'd been my rock over these past few weeks, and I should start recognizing that. I needed to appreciate him more. The realization hit me like a freight train. I should do something to show him my gratitude. But what could I do?

A voice interrupted my thoughts "Chris! Chris! Christopher!"

Suddenly, Sam appeared, coming straight towards us through the crowd, looking frantic. It was dark, but our eyes had adjusted by now, and her red hair stood out in the moon
