"Ouch!" I flinched as the ointment stung my wounded face. His hand was steady but firm as he carefully guided the cotton wool, holding it between the silver blades of scissors.

"Sorry," he murmured, his voice soft, almost a whisper. "I'll be gentle." His touch lightened as he dabbed around the sore skin. For a moment, he paused, and our eyes met—his gaze on mine, searching. I held my breath. The room felt still, as if everything had stopped.

"He's asleep, ma'am," Bea's voice suddenly broke the silence, snapping me out of the moment.

Startled, I turned to her, blinking away my daze. She stood in the doorway, glancing between us. Heat rushed to my cheeks as I quickly looked down, breaking the stare.

"Make sure the AC isn’t too high. Just keep it at medium, that should help him cool off," John muttered. She nodded slightly before turning and leaving the room.

"He’s going to start hurting innocent people, Evelyn. Please, agree to take him to the Silvermoon Pack," John urged, his t

EVEYLNThe alarm blared loudly, snapping me awake. I stretched and yawned, feeling a dull ache in my head, I must have stayed up too late. Sunlight streamed through the window, but something else caught my attention, a familiar scent.John.Where's that moron?I sat up quickly and rushed to the bathroom, but he wasn’t there. My room looked surprisingly neat, even though I remembered it being a mess last night. I had knocked over an ointment bottle and stumbled into John. But now, the bottle was gone. Instead, it was neatly placed in the first aid box.Did John clean up, or was it Bea?After freshening up, I walked into the parlour. The room was silent and empty—there was no one in sight. Curious, I made my way to Harry's room.I pushed the door open and found him sitting cross-legged on the bed, gripping a game controller. Beside him, John leaned against the headboard, laughing as the game played on the screen. A smile tugged at my lips, and a wave of relief washed over me. Harry was

EVEYLN"Slow down.... Evelyn," John called as he hurried after me."He's in the dungeon right now, with my warriors," he added, as he sighed.I skidded to a halt, spinning to face him. The weight of betrayal hit me like a punch, tightening my chest but it must have hurt John more than me. It must have shown on my face. John, of all people, should have known better, chino worked for him."How did this happen?" I demanded, my voice cracking. "Who was he working with? How could he do this... to a kid?"John flinched, his eyes darkened with guilt. "He confessed," he admitted quietly, looking down like the words were too heavy to meet my gaze. "It was Diane... and another woman he couldn’t name. But... there was also a man.""What?" My voice rose, disbelief flooding every syllable.Diane. Of course, she was behind this. But now there were two more, two people working with her? My hands clenched into fists, shaking with anger. How many did it take to try and ruin me? And for what? For nothi

EVEYLN"I have a good news," Winnie said, her voice trembling slightly. She hesitated, fidgeting with the hem of her jacket.I turned to her, raising an eyebrow. "More good news? Sounds great to me," I said with a small smile, trying to match her excitement. Her smile grew, but instead of replying, she slipped off her brown jacket. Turning her back to me, she let it drop to the floor, revealing something I never expected. My breath caught. My eyes widened, and I clapped a hand over my mouth as I jumped to my feet. There, on her shoulder blade, was a mark—one I recognized instantly.I stammered, my voice shaky. "Alpha Reuben?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper as she nodded enthusiastically. Her happiness was contagious, I couldn’t help but feel happy for her too. She was already his mate; their bond was sealed.I sank back into my chair, still trying to process everything, while she sat beside me. Her expression softened as she began to explain.“It all started when he saved m

JOHNThe doctor’s words had crushed me. I had gone in hoping for good news, expecting to hear that she was getting better. But instead, I was left struggling to process what he had just told me. By the time I got back to her room, I still didn’t know how to break the news. So, I waited and let the doctor do it himself. As soon as he spoke, her reaction was instant. She gasped, covering her mouth as tears streamed down her face. Harriet blinked rapidly, her own eyes filled with tears. She tried to speak but couldn’t get a word out. The silence was unbearable. My hands clenched into fists, anger burning inside me. I knew exactly who was responsible, Diane and her accomplices. And I had to act fast. I needed proof to expose her for what she had done. The doctor’s voice cut through the silence.“But don’t worry,” he said gently, giving a small, reassuring smile. “With time, she might regain her speech. She won’t be mute forever.”He glanced at us before adding, “She can go home today. And

JOHN“At first, he looked scared when he tried to push us,” he began, his voice steady but laced with bitterness. “I was the one who fought back before he fell to the ground.”“So, he was paid to do it?” I asked, leaning in.He nodded slowly, confirming my suspicion.Of course, someone had paid him. But who? Diane, right? She was the only one ruthless enough to pull something like this off. Her motive was clear—make Evelyn lose the project so it could be handed over to her brother, the same brother who had been desperately fighting for it before.Wait… Diane’s brother. Benjamin.Where the hell is that guy?I placed my hands firmly on the car, my thoughts racing, when Andrew cleared his throat, snapping me back to reality.“So, should we head to the construction site?” Andrew asked, glancing at me. I couldn’t leave Evelyn now, not after what I saw last night. The image burned in my mind: their lips pressed together, her arms wrapped around him like he was her whole world. The memory cut deep in my mind. My chest ached with a rage I could barely hold back. It hurt so much I wanted to storm into her room, rip him away from her, and destroy him with my bare hands. No one could ever love Evelyn the way I do. No one. Every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every risk I took it was all for her. And yet, after everything, she’s back with him. Her ex.A bitter laugh escaped me. Fine. If she thinks she can love him again, I’ll make sure she hates him instead. "Don’t worry, Evelyn," I said softly, trying to ease her worry. EVELYN POVEven after all this time, coming back to this pack still stirs something deep inside me, a connection I wish I didn’t have. It feels like the ground remembers me. Leaving wasn’t easy. Even with Harriet in the hospital, it took me two days to pack. I made time because I had no choice. This wasn’t just another visit, it was something I couldn’t ignore. My Harry was in danger.Ahead, John’s car led the way, winding through familiar roads. He insisted on taking the lead, and I let him. Not because I didn’t remember the way I did but because he needed to feel in control. So I stayed quiet and let him. From the backseat, I caught glimpses of pack members turning their heads, trying to see into my car. The tinted windows kept me hidden. EVEYLNI sighed and rolled my eyes as I started up the stairs. He followed closely behind, carrying Harriet in his arms. His grin widened, and for some reason, it made my chest feel heavy. When he asked me that question, I knew it wasn’t true—but still, I couldn’t bring myself to deny it. Why couldn’t I just tell him the real reason?Beta Andrew reached the top of the stairs and opened the first door. “Here we are,” he said, stepping inside.I followed him in. The room was spotless, with a neatly made bed and crisp sheets tucked perfectly in place. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about cleaning just unpacking and putting our clothes away in the cupboard.Bea wouldn’t be here until later, she’d told me earlier she had some things to take care of.Just as I opened my bag and started pulling out clothes to hang in the cupboard, my phone rang.I glanced at the screen and saw Elena’s name. EVEYLN“Please… don’t worry about me,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “Thank you for saving me, but…”Her voice cracked. Then, as if the weight of everything she’d been holding in finally broke loose, she began to cry. This had an effect on me as I had to fight the sting in my own eyes.“My life… it’s only going to get worse from here,” she choked out.I looked at her, helpless.Goddess, what can I possibly do to ease this young girl's pain?I didn’t even know her story. But the sorrow in her eyes told me more than words ever could, she’d been through hell. She was beautiful, short golden hair and eyes wide and soft like a doe’s. I didn’t want to bother her with questions. She’d been through enough and she needs rest. So, I let it go for now.“We’ll come back tomorrow, to check up on you,” I whispered to myself as we quietly left.A few hours later, I still couldn’t sleep. We had returned to the mansion, where everything was quiet. JOHN“Let’s leave,” I urged her, reaching for her arm.But she pulled away, shaking her head hard. Her finger shot toward a crowded spot in the distance, eyes wide with urgency.“We have to save that girl first, John,” she said, voice trembling.I turned to Solomon. He caught my look and gave a quick nod as he’d heard Evelyn too, and he understood.A rough voice barked behind me. “You twat! Do you even know what you’ve done?”Three men stood there, rage burning in their eyes. One of them clutched his hand, blood dripping between his fingers. I glanced down at my claws, one of his fingers lay at my feet. “Fuuuck! What are you?” the man screamed, his voice breaking from pain and fear.My claws was sharper than any freshly-forged blade, than any normal Alpha wolf because of the special features I was brought up with. One hard strike was all it took to kill. The air was filled with an overwhelming mix of blood, sweat, moans, sperm and too many creatures. Vampires. Hybrids. Strong wolves.

"She's still not answering, and she's not in the club either," Solomon said, letting out a sigh.John’s chest was beating. A strange feeling crawled over him, like something wasn’t right with Eveyln. He couldn’t shake the urge to go find her. They're not inside," Solomon said, glancing around with uncertainty in his eyes. That was when a chilling thought gripped John, a terrifying 'what if' that twisted in his gut as he remembered how Elena and Giovanni drugged her so that he would take advantage of her. The girls exchanged a glance, hesitant, their eyes flicking back to the card in her hand. “We can’t,” one of the girls said quickly, shaking her head. “The bartender is the one who’s supposed to direct you.” With a mysterious smile, she dipped her head and slipped out of the restroom, leaving Evelyn standing there with more questions than answers. Evelyn exhaled shakily and made her way to the bar. She placed the card carefully on the counter, its glossy surface catching the dim light. The bartender’s eyes widened the moment he saw it. He snatched it up, glancing left and right as if to make sure no one else had seen. Not a single word passed between them. Evelyn stayed silent, her pulse thudding in her ears. Without explanation, the man disappeared into the kitchen. Moments later, a female bartender took his place, wiping the counter as if nothing had happened. In front of him, two naked bodies having sex as the lady's legs were widely spread apart, moaning out loud, but he barely wasn't even enjoying the show displayed at his front. His grip tightened on the glass, knuckles pale, eyes shut tight. Evelyn’s voice echoed in his mind. Nothing I could do to undo the decision and if I could, I wouldn’t think twice.I walked to the car, each step slower than the last. Reaching it, I stopped, resting my hands on the cool metal. A sigh escaped me. I opened the door, ready to slide in, when someone caught my eye.“Wait... is that Mimi?” I shut the car door and started walking in her direction. She was speaking to someone, but my eyes were locked on her alone. My pace quickened—I had to catch up. What was Mimi doing near the palace? More importantly, what was she doing in this Pack at all?"Where are you heading to, ma'am?" I didn’t respond. No point. He would follow me anyway, no matter what I said. EVEYLN.“The Pack witch just told me everything, Evelyn. It’s best if you stay here,” I shook my head, tightening my jaw. “And since when do you get to make decisions for me, John?”He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I’m just doing what needs to be done. This is probably where you belong now. John asked.I nodded silently. He pulled the blanket up to my shoulders. Vera knelt beside the bed, dabbing at the dried blood and the dirt on my skin with a napkin. She didn’t say anything, but I was sure John had told her to help."I’ll be right back," he said, heading toward the door.As he left, I glanced at Vera. She let out a quiet sigh, her eyes studying me carefully."Do you have any idea who did this to you?" she asked.I shook my head. Truth was, I didn’t care.
