GIOVANNI

I slumped into the chair in my room, pressing my back against its cool surface as I clenched my fists. My eyes shut tight, but the image of Evelyn and John together burned in my mind, twisting like a knife in my chest.

A sharp creak from the door cut through my thoughts, and my eyes snapped open.

"Get out of my room!" I growled.

The faint scent of lavender and citrus hit me, Elena. Of course, it had to be her. She should’ve stayed abroad, far from here, far from me, far from the chaos she always brought.

Her heels clicked against the floor as she stepped inside, ignoring my command. She smirked, crossing her arms. "The old Alpha Giovanni is back," she said mockingly. "I was like what happened to my old cold brother? Did that little brat actually change him?"

My glare met hers, sharp in the dim light. Heat rose in my chest, my control slipping as my irises threatened to glow red. But she didn’t flinch. Instead, she scoffed, her gaze drifting lazily around the room as she circl

JOHNI stepped into the palace's grand hall, my eyes immediately finding her. She stood by an ornate mirror, slipping into a long navy-blue dress that shimmered under the chandelier’s light. Her face was covered in heavy makeup, almost like a mask, and a crown rested on her head, a crown meant for a Luna. The rose-gold centerpiece gleamed, a symbol of power and beauty she hadn’t earned. The heck is she planning now, cause right now I'm confused."My Goddess, son-in-law, how have you been?" A warm voice pulled me from my thoughts, heels echoing in the hall. I turned to see a middle-aged woman approaching with effortless grace. She wore a flowing purple gown that swayed with each step, her golden accessories catching the light. Her dark hair was styled into intricate buns, exuding elegance. In her hands, she carried a basket full of fruit. It was Diane’s mother, Iris Carlson. Her presence alone made me instinctively bow my head in respect. Then, an older man strode into the room—Alpha L

EVEYLNThe hall buzzed with noise as parents argued loudly about how the school should be run. I couldn’t help glancing at John. He sat beside me, focused on his phone, a small smile appearing as he looked at a picture of the kids. The P.T.A. meeting itself wasn’t too bad, but I could feel people staring at us. Whispers spread through the room like a quiet storm. Some looked confused, others surprised, and a few smiled like they had just spotted a celebrity. The attention made me shift uncomfortably in my seat."You look a little creepy, Mr. John," I teased, keeping a straight face.John smirked and slipped his phone into his pocket. His eyes met mine, warm and amused. "My baby looks just like you," he said softly. "She just texted me, she’s eating cake in class."I rolled my eyes and muttered, "Gosh, these kids. Who even gives them these phones?" "Jealous that I'm getting more attention than you?" John teased, a grin spreading across his face."Keep dreaming," I shot back, rolling m

"Harriet!"My heart nearly stopped when I saw her lying on the floor. Blood dripped from her mouth, dark and frightening against her pale skin. Without hesitation, John picked her up as she lay in his arms, his face full of panic. Tears filled my eyes as I noticed the pool of blood beneath her. It was too much, far too much for such a small child."Move!!!" John shouted, his voice desperate. People quickly stepped aside as we ran toward his car. We hadn’t arrived together, I didn’t have a driver, but he did. The door slammed shut, and within seconds, we were racing out of the school parking lot."Harriet, Harriet, please wake up!" I begged, my voice shaking. "Mummy’s here, baby, please!"My hands trembled as I touched her cold, pale face. The car hit a bump, making her tiny body shift, her head flopping lifelessly. Fear tightened around my chest, my breathing quick and shallow. The sharp smell of blood filled the air, almost making me to loose my breathe. "Calm down, Evelyn. She’ll b

JOHNI clutched my phone tightly, my knuckles whitening as I waited for him to speak again. But the words seemed stuck in his throat, swallowing whatever he was trying to say. "What... what did you just say?" Her voice trembled, thin and shaky, like the fragile crack of glass. I glanced at her, her body visibly trembling, and let out a soft sigh before stepping closer. "I’ll handle this. Just stay here with Harriet, okay?" I said gently, my tone firm but trying to sound calm. Her eyes widened, panic spilling into her voice as she stammered, "What do you mean Harry can’t be found?" She didn’t even seem to register my words. I rested a hand on her shoulder, giving it a soft, reassuring squeeze, and nodded. Without waiting for her response, I turned and dashed out of the hospital. From behind me, I heard her shout my name. But I didn’t stop. I couldn’t. I wouldn’t burden her with what Andrew had just told me. "Harry can't be found? What nonsense," I muttered under my breath

EVEYLNI paced up and down the hallway outside the room where they’d placed my daughter not even a though of sitting down for what seems four hours. My heart pounded as questions swirled in my mind. And then a nurse came out of the room as I ran to her place holding her hands. "No comments, all I know is that it affected the little girl badly" she bowed her head slowly as she began leaving my sight. I placed my hand on my chest as I bent my head to the back trying not to let my tears spill out of my eyes. Who would dare give her chocolate cake when they know how sensitive it is? How? Why was she the only one given? It didn’t make any sense. The sound of hurried footsteps broke through my thoughts. “Evelyn, oh my goodness!” Winnie’s voice came from down the hall. She ran toward me, her face drawn tight with worry. She reached out to me as she placed her hands firmly on my shoulders, her eyes darting to the glass window on the door. She stared at my daughter lying motionless inside

The clips showed Aria putting on a dramatic performance, kneeling at ThornField, pleading for my forgiveness, then collapsing in a way that made it seem like I had pushed her. It was all so staged, so fake, yet some people actually believed it."This is pure manipulation. She definitely has a reason for doing this," Elena said firmly, taking a sip of water. GIOVANNI"Sweet brother," Elena called out, her voice light and teasing as her footsteps echoed down the stone hallway. I rolled my eyes, muttering under my breath. How did she always know where to find me, even down here in the dungeon? The air was thick with the stench of decay, heavy and suffocating. Elena wrinkled her nose, waving a hand in front of her face. "Ugh, this place still smells dead bodies" she said with a sharp tone of disgust. "Why can’t anyone clean this dungeon properly? Don't you guys dispose fucking bodies?"She snapped at the nearby guards, her voice echoing off the damp walls. They didn’t, react nor flinch, expressionless as always and that's the main reason they are dungeon guards, heartless and would leave you to anyone here to die because once you enter here, you are already considered a dead person except, moon goddess pardons your life. EVEYLNMy mind raced, desperate for an excuse to leave. I shouldn’t have come here in the first place, and now there were only thirty minutes left until my son’s ritual. Time was slipping away too fast."Your kids… they’re Alpha John’s, aren’t they?" she asked.I froze, my eyes widened as I stared at her, completely shocked by her question. My plate was half empty and suddenly, I had no appetite at all."I knew it," she muttered, spinning her wine before placing the glass down with a quiet clink."So that’s why you joined this pack? To be with John?" she pressed, her gaze locked onto mine."No!" I blurted out, shaking my head. She couldn’t be more wrong. "I didn't join this Pack, like I said earlier...""If John asked you to rejoin this pack, would you?" she asked with a soft voice. but her eyes studied me closely."With all due respect, ma’am, I’ve moved on," I said, keeping my voice as calm as possible. JOHNWhat did she even mean by that?"How is it too much?" Charles asked as he drank water from the glass cup and yes he was right about it."I'm just trying to help Eveyln" Diane barely looked up as she replied, she was a bit offended with what he said. "Because if she’s surrounded by controversy, it’s going to affect you and your campaign." Her fork clinked softly against her plate.I glanced at Evelyn. She looked tense, her jaw tight, but she kept eating, like she was trying to pretend the conversation wasn’t annoying her."Alright, that's enough," I snapped but in a low voice . "He was asking her, not you."Diane lifted her head, meeting my eyes with a concern laced in her voice. "I’m just worried about my father-in-law. That’s not wrong, is it?" Her voice was light, like she needed someone to tell her it was okay. The dinning room fell silent for a moment, the only sound coming from the quiet clinking of cutlery. EVEYLN John’s face went stiff the moment he saw her outside. It was obvious he hadn’t expected her to be there. Diane’s eyes found me first then her expression twisted, like she was surprised to see even my figure here since John didn't tell her about my coming to this Pack, before it hardened into anger. Her hands clenched into fists at her sides. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, a feminine voice spoke from behind her.“What’s going on out here? Come inside.”A middle-aged woman stepped into view, her diamond earrings catching the light. She had the kind of quiet authority that made it clear she was used to being listened to. Her sharp eyes flicked to Diane, who immediately softened, her expression shifting just enough to look composed.“Yes… Mum,” Diane said, her voice suddenly sweet and controlled. “It’s nothing, really. I just saw John outside with… her.” She gestured toward me, forcing a smile. “I guess I got a little upset.”The woman, John’s mother,

EVEYLNThe strong, scent of herbs and burning incense filled the air as we stepped into the Pack Witch’s cavern. It was filled with old skulls, bones and oil carrying the echoes of old rituals and quiet prayers to the Moon Goddess. This was a sacred place where sacrifices were made, secrets were shared, and the pack sought guidance from forces beyond our understanding.John and I sat on a long, worn bench, the softness of hare fur beside us. He leaned in and murmured, suggesting we summon her instead. I shook my head, firm. "No, we go to her. That’s how it’s done." As Alpha, he had the power to command otherwise, but tradition still mattered to me, at least. The old woman’s sharp eyes locked onto my son like daggers. He kept his head down, avoiding her stare. I could understand what he was feeling at that moment, the unease. It wasn’t surprising, there was something unsettling about the Pack Witch’s gaze, her brows furrowed but her eyes were wide.Pack witch's eyes are always like tha

GIOVANNIAfter the meeting with Diane, I stormed out and as I reached my car, I slammed my hands onto the hood, the metal shuddering. Her smug little speech about her new plans echoed in my head, each word grating on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard."How the hell did she find out?" I muttered through clenched teeth, my voice sharp with anger. I glanced around the parking lot, my mind racing. Who told her? Does she have someone feeding her information? The thought made my blood boil. She was always one step ahead, always pulling strings I didn’t even know existed.Straightening up, I clenched my fists, a slow smirk creeping onto my lips. What can I use against her? How do I make sure she never tries to control me again?I shook my head, my jaw tightening. No one controls me, I growled, the fire inside me burning hotter. I’m Alpha Giovanni. The guards had blocked their path, refusing to let them in.One was about to enter like he was trying again but the guard their shook his head, his hands still spread across the gate.Andrew stepped forward, his voice sharp. "And who the hell are you?" he demanded, eyes narrowing as we got closer. The men didn’t back down, but their heated glares bore down to those guards. I studied their faces carefully, and then it hit me, I recognized one of them. As if sensing it, they all shifted their attention to me, lowering their heads in respect. Not to John, who stood tall beside me, but to me alone."They say they’re from the NightShade Pack, Alpha," one of John’s warriors said, his tone laced with sarcasm, meanwhile John scoffed like he understood what the situation was. EVEYLNI sighed and rolled my eyes as I started up the stairs. He followed closely behind, carrying Harriet in his arms. His grin widened, and for some reason, it made my chest feel heavy. When he asked me that question, I knew it wasn’t true—but still, I couldn’t bring myself to deny it. Why couldn’t I just tell him the real reason?Beta Andrew reached the top of the stairs and opened the first door. “Here we are,” he said, stepping inside.I followed him in. At least I wouldn’t have to worry about cleaning just unpacking and putting our clothes away in the cupboard.Bea wouldn’t be here until later, she’d told me earlier she had some things to take care of.Just as I opened my bag and started pulling out clothes to hang in the cupboard, my phone rang.I glanced at the screen and saw Elena’s name. EVELYN POVEven after all this time, coming back to this pack still stirs something deep inside me, a connection I wish I didn’t have. It feels like the ground remembers me. Leaving wasn’t easy.
