EVELYN POV
“Life is cruel, Evelyn. We live today and die tomorrow—that's just the meaning of it all…” Her voice dripped with disdain, each word slicing through the tension in the air. “Are you really having kidney problems? Answer me, you bitch!” I demanded, my voice sharp and fierce, a fire igniting within me. At that, she erupted into a harsh, mocking laughter that echoed in the room. She spun around, her smile wide and taunting, so that I could see her well. She was perfectly fine and healthy. "Of course not, you idiot! Can't you see the game I’m playing here or are you just dumb?!" My breath caught in my throat. Oh, Moon Goddess! "So you’re faking it?" My heart pounded wildly against my ribcage. I shook my head in disbelief, trying to sit up, but my body felt heavy and unresponsive, sharp pains radiating through me with each movement. I couldn't believe this. She was just lying about having a failing kidney??? So I was about to lose one of my kidneys for nothing? “I have a piece of advice for you, Evelyn,” she sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. “Just sign the divorce papers and stop living in this fantasy that you’ll win Alpha John back. You think giving me your precious kidney will change anything? Someone, please, wake this delusional lady up!” She continued to laugh cruelly like the maniac she was. She plopped down on her bed again, arms crossed, giving me a mocking stare that pierced through me. I could see the pity in her eyes, the way she shook her head as if I were a lost cause. "I’m going to tell Alpha John everything! I’ll scream loud and clear that you pretended to have kidney failure, and he’ll leave you for good and come back to me!" I spat. She let out another mocking laugh, eyes sparkling with cruelty. "My goodness, you really don’t know when to quit, do you?" Slowly, she walked to my bed, her presence looming like a dark cloud. "Well, for your information," she said, her voice dripping with disdain, "John and I have already planned to toss your weak ass aside after the kidney transplant. And if you think I’m lying, I have proof right here on my phone." She pulled her phone from a purse beside her, the screen glowing as she waved it in front of me. "I won't believe you! You're just trying to manipulate him, and he doesn’t see it!" I shook my head frantically, grasping at straws. She had to be lying. With a smirk, she tossed the phone at me. The device landed with a thud, and I hesitated before pressing play. My eyes widened in disbelief as the video unfolded before me. My belongings were strewn carelessly outside the pack house, my blue luggage and every other thing I owned waiting for me after the transplant. A knot tightened in my throat, and I took a shaky breath, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to spill. But they came anyway, hot and relentless, streaming down my cheeks. "After everything..." I whispered. “Awwwwnnn, you poor thing. You just got the worst betrayal of your life,” Diane mocked, her voice dripping with mock sympathy. She nonchalantly gathered her hair into a messy bun then snatched the divorce papers from the table and flung them onto my bed, the pen landing beside them. “Now sign this shit and end things with him. He’s mine now. After all, you’re going to die after this surgery,” she sneered, rolling her eyes as I fought to wipe away my tears. It was over. It felt like the world was closing in around me, like an inescapable fog. My hands trembled as I reached for the pen and drew my shaky signature beneath my name, sealing my fate. "And that's a good girl," Diane cooed, her voice dripping with mockery as she tapped my shoulder. The smile on her face was anything but genuine as she sauntered back to place the divorce papers where Alpha John kept them. "I'll be right back before the surgery commences," she added with a casual tone, as if she were discussing mundane plans, not the removal of my kidney. What was her plan? Would she still go through with the surgery since her kidneys were still fine? Or was she scheming to have them removed just to sell them? The thought sent a chill down my spine. My gut churned with suspicion. Was she in cahoots with the hospital? Something felt deeply wrong, and every instinct screamed that I needed to run away before it was too late. What do I do now? How do I escape this? I can't let my kidney get taken away from me like this. I looked at both of my hands but they were tied in one way or the other. “Uhm, Ms. Evelyn.” The voice yanked me from my swirling thoughts. I turned sharply and saw the doctor stepping into the ward, his brow furrowed as he scanned the paper in his hands. “Don’t you know it’s dangerous to proceed with a kidney transplant considering the child you’re carrying, Ms. Evelyn?” In an instant, my anger faded, replaced by disbelief and confusion. Did he just say ‘child?’ What child? What did he mean by that? Was I not barren? My breath caught in my throat, and I felt warmth rushing through me. I clutched my stomach. "What do you mean by that doctor?" I asked in curiosity, my eyes widened like saucers. The doctor looked up, concern etched on his face. "You’re a month pregnant, Ms. Evelyn. Performing the surgery now could be incredibly risky for both you and the baby. We need to address this." I was truly pregnant? I couldn’t believe it. My hands went to my stomach, feeling the warmth. Was it the reason I constantly felt nauseous and dizzy? It was huge news to me. It brought a smile to my face, the first I had since four days. But that smile disappeared immediately. If I was pregnant, how could I push through with this surgery? Wouldn’t it be dangerous for the innocent baby? Fear gripped me at the thought of an innocent life suffering because of my ex-husband and his fiance’s wickedness. "I can’t go through with this," I whispered under my breath, my voice shaking. The doctor continued. “We should tell Alpha John so he can do something about this; it seems like he doesn’t know about—” “No! No! No!” I begged and clamped my hands together. I shook my head frantically. “Please don’t tell him about this child! Let it be our secret, just between us, please! I beg of you!” I pleaded, my voice breaking as tears rolled down my cheeks. I sniffed and wiped them away hastily while he gazed at me with confusion. I couldn’t let Alpha John find out about this baby. Not when his soon-to-be Luna was already pregnant. I imagined John’s reaction if he heard about this. Would he care? If he saw me as just a vessel, would he now care about the life growing inside that vessel? He would see my child as a burden and force me to abort the baby. “But if he isn’t informed, there’s a high risk of you losing your child during the transplant, Ms. Evelyn,” he said, a deep sigh escaping his lips as he crossed his arms. Desperately, I looked him in the eye and an idea suddenly came to me. I reached out and grabbed the edge of his coat, my fingers shaking. “Please, do something for me, doctor.”EVEYLNWhat?John's eyes moved quickly around the room, and confusion showed on his face. "Where’s this coming from?" he asked, looking at Paulo, then at me. I didn’t respond. I had already dragged the bag outside and dropped it on the table with a dull thud.Paulo narrowed his eyes. "What’s inside that’s making that sound?"John stepped closer and touched the zipper. He tried to pull it open, but it wouldn’t move. He grunted and pulled harder. Still stuck."Looks like it’s jammed," I said, watching his hands. His knuckles cracked, and his fingers twitched. Slowly, his nails grew longer, turning into sharp claws. Without saying a word, he sliced the zipper open like it was nothing. Clothes spilled out, layers of fabric, familiar patterns, soft folds I recognized right away. Bea’s. Every single piece was hers.John didn’t stop. He dropped to his knees and pushed shirts and dresses aside, throwing them behind him in a rush. The sound of rustling fabric, his heavy breathing, it all led t

The room was spotless, almost too clean for a place lived in by just one old man. He'd clearly made an effort to keep it tidy, even if no one else was around to see it.John stood a few feet away, eyes fixed on the old man with a strange look. I gave him a small wave. He blinked like snapping out of a daze,
JOHNWhat made it worse was that there was no fence or gate. No walls. Nothing to keep anything out. Just that weak old house, sitting wide open to the forest, like it had already stopped trying to protect itself.I couldn’t help but feel sorry for whoever lived there.I walked up to the door and knocked twice. The wood felt rough and worn under my knuckles. There was no answer. I stood still, listening. All I could hear was the wind moving through the trees. I knocked again, this time a bit harder. Then I heard something, a curtain moving on my left side.“Hey,” Solomon said quietly, motioning for me to come over with a tilt of his head.I stepped down and walked slightly to the left side. A wrinkled hand pulled the curtain aside, and behind the dusty glass, I saw a face, an old man, eyes narrowed like he wasn’t sure what to make of us.“How may I help you?” he asked, his voice dry and slow.I took a step closer and gave a small wave. “Um... sorry to bother you, sir. We’re looking fo
JOHNSolomon eased off the gas, knuckles white on the steering wheel.“Should I stop the car?” he asked, voice low, eyes flicking to the rear-view mirror. I leaned forward, heartbeat drumming in my ears, squinting at the sedan ahead. Was that really her?The woman’s silhouette shifted, then she half-turned as though checking us, glossy hair spilling over one shoulder.Beside me Evelyn tapped the window with a restless finger. “But why is she even here in the first place?” she breathed, forehead creasing. I shook my head, “Keep going,” I muttered. Solomon nodded, jaw tight, and the engine growled as we rolled past, tires humming over the road while the stranger’s taillights glimmered.Evelyn rested her head against my arm,as she looked at the computer, then lifted her eyes to mine. “What if we slip onto a side street?” she breathed, voice thin with hope. Then she added, “If that’s Diane up there, Benjamin’s sitting right beside her.” The idea struck hard, but I didn't respond becau
She slowly woke up, her eyelashes fluttering open. The first thing she saw was John, sitting close by, quietly watching her. He had clearly been awake for a while, his eyes looked tired and heavy. Her eyebrows pulled together as she looked around the unfamiliar room. Confusion showed on her face. Then she turned her head and was taken aback as John was still staring at her. That’s when the panic hit.She looked down and gasped, quickly pulling the sheet over her bare breasts. Her hands were shaking. A sharp pain between her legs made her remember what had happened yesterday.John broke the silence.“Hey, you can’t deny it this time,” he said in a low, almost smug voice. She looked at him, eyes wide. “Deny what exactly?”He let out a bitter laugh and stood up from the bed as she looked at his names body as his dick standing like he was controlling himself while she was asleep.“Wow… aren’t you even a little ashamed of yourself?” She quickly threw the covers over her face, hiding behin
"Shhh..." he whispered, close to her ear.Evelyn swallowed hard, her body going still. Her mind went blank as his hands slid up her breasts. Then he cupped her breasts, his fingers brushing over her nipples as he twisted it hard. She winced, eyes squeezing shut at the sharp sensation. But before she could speak, his warm breath drifted across her neck, it was calming the sting like a balm. Her chest rose and fell in rhythm with his, the tension slowly shifting into something deeper. Then she felt a soft, wet trace of his tongue on her neck, a gasp escaping her lips as he followed the curve of her neck, tasting her skin, before finding the edge of her ear.A soft moan slipped from her throat."John..." she breathed, trembling between surrender and hesitation.“Mmm…” John murmured, his voice a low hum as his lips traveled slowly along her skin. Evelyn winced slightly, her eyes fluttering shut, her mouth parted in a quiet gasp.He turned her gently to face him, their eyes locking for a h
