“This is my mother, Luna Emilia. Mother, meet my mate, Alana” Kai announced as soon as we entered the pack house the next day.
“Hello, nice to meet you, Luna, ma’am” I stammered, not exactly sure how to address her. She held my gaze, recognition flashing in them slightly.
“The face do look familiar. Who is your father?”
Her question took me by surprise and I swallowed a saliva. Kai gave my hand a gentle squeeze reassuringly and I gave him a squeeze back before answering.
“John..Johnathan Brooks is my father” the slight frown on her forehead only deepens at the sound of my father’s name but she said nothing else.
Not sure of what to say or do next, I continued to stare at the floor while occasionally stealing a glance at the slim beauty standing before me. Her hair was let loose in a long blonde wavy curls and flowing down her shoulders. Luna Emilia wore no makeup but she still looked just as beautiful even in her old age.
Kai must have taken after the late alpha as his hair was dark, his shoulder more broad and masculine with a side dimple that seem to appear each time he smiles. His eyes were a brilliant blue, a total contrast to the Luna’s green ones.
At her age, she was still a beauty to behold. But from her cold demeanor, I don’t think she likes me.
“I see” Her voice was clipped as she regard me rather coldly before her eyes moved back to meet her son. “May I have a word with you?, in private”
Her words were more like a demand than an actual request. Kai answered with a nod and she turned and began to walk away.
Turning to face me, he kissed the top of my head, holding my gaze briefly, “Wait here, I will be right back, okay?”
“Okay” I said with a nod, giving him a smile and he turned and began to hurry after her.
I exhaled a deep breath as I stood by the hallway with my arms wrapped around my chest wondering if I should go sit at the living room or not. In the end, I decided to just wait around for a bit and that was when I heard voices coming down the hallway.
Out of curiosity, I began to head towards the same direction they went, my feet lightweight on the polished marble floor. I carried myself quietly across the hallway, taking note of the beautiful art painting hanging on the dark brown walls.
My feet came to an abrupt stop before a closed door when I heard the Luna's angry words, sending chill down my spine, “That girl can never be your mate! She is an abomination. A lowly omega and to top it off, she is the daughter of that man that killed your father, how can you accept and declare her before me as your mate!”
My heart sank completely at her words that were filled with so much disgust at the thought of me being her son's mate. But then again, what exactly was I expecting? That just because I'm Kai mate she was going to embrace and accept me with open arms? I was still the traitor's daughter and nothing can change that.
“Alana isn’t guilty of her father’s crime and besides, she has already being punished enough don’t you think? She is good and innocent and above all, I’m not going to throw the mother’s gift away simply because she turned out to be the traitor's daughter like you so put it!”
I heard the Luna gasp, “How could you even think of defending her” she asked, sounding horrified.
“Because she is my mate, Mother! You of all people should know and understand how this things work”
“And what about Nadia? I thought you two finally had that talk and have agreed to pick her as your chosen!”
Nadia? I have never met her before but I know she is Beta Simon eldest daughter. She is pretty but has a reputation for parading herself as future Luna of the pack while looking down on everyone else.
I guess, the Luna would rather have her son pick someone else over me. At this point, I knew it was time to stop listening as I stumbled away from the door and down the hallway, looking for an exit.
Tears start to flood my cheeks as I continued to hurry down the large hallway, not exactly paying attention to where I was headed until, I stumbled into someone. I looked up to see two brown hazel eyes glaring back at me.
From her fierceness and how she regarded me, I didn't need any further introduction. I was certain she was Nadia Simon, the same one the Luna was intending to become Kai’s chosen and Luna.
Wanting to avoid any run in with her, I quickly muttered my apologies at her and turned to walk away but she quickly stepped in my path, blocking me.
"You!" She sneered, pointing her finger at me, "You filthy little low life, how come you are here? How did you get inside?"
"I...I..." I started to reply her but she didn't let me finish. "You are here to steal, aren't you?" She finishes for me, her eyes narrowing at me completely.
A gasp escaped my mouth as I gaze at her, totally shocked at her accusation. "I'm not a thief!"
"Yes, you are and you are here to steal from the Luna and her family”
I clenched my hands into fist, her words sharp and twisting a hole through my chest. “I am not a thief and I haven’t come here to steal either”
“Oh no? Well then, if you are not here to steal as you claim, what then are you doing in the Alpha's quarter?"
I swallow back the venom hanging at the tip of my throat, my hands still curled into tight fist by my sides. Nadia might be a beta daughter but she was still a nobody and even though she thinks I owe her some sort of explanation for being here, I really do not but if answering her was going to get her to step out of my way then I might as well, satisfy her curiosity.
"I'm here because Kai wanted me to be her..."
My head swipe to the side as her hand swing forward and met with my right cheek, knocking the rest of the word out of my mouth.
"How dare you?" She was yelling, her voice adding to the ringing in my ear as I turned to stare back at her in disbelief, my palm still cradling the spot right where I was hit.
"How dare you lie against the future alpha. He would never ask for a filth like you to come into this house, talk more of standing before him"
She grabbed me by the wrist and start to look around while shouting at the top of her voice, "Guards..guards, come quickly, there is a thief here to be arrested!"
The once quiet and lonely corridor had become chaotic at this point as both guards and servants came running to see what was happening. I tried to break out of her hold on me but her grip only tighten as she continued to scream at the top of her voice.
More people have gathered at this point, including my friend Suzy who stood by the corner, her scared expression mirroring mine.
The noise must have attracted Kai as well as we heard his voice booming behind us. Kai wasted no time as he snatched my hand away from Nadia's firm grip, flipping her off.
"What the fuck do you think you are doing?" He growled out, his voice firm.
"Thank goddess you are here, Kai...this thing was saying you asked her to be here but I'm certain she was lying because she looks like she has come to steal!"
"That's enough!" His voice thunder out, causing Nadia and everyone standing by to jump in fright. Kai looked like he wanted to murder someone. His eyes were bloodshot as he continue to speak, "I do not care what you think, Nadia but I will have you know that this thing you are referring is my mate and she has a name. This is the first and last I will have you assume things about her, understand?"
"W..what?" She managed to let out, her eyes wide in disbelief as it settled across his hands still wrapped around mine.
Nadia was not the only one who seem to be shocked at the revelation but she was the only one courageous enough to speak up still. "You mean, she is your mate?"
I could feel his anger radiating under my skin like a warm heat as his palm continued to enclosed mine.
“I’m….I’m sorry, I didn’t know she..she was your mate” Nadia’s panicked apology only made my wolf want to jump her. Her apology seem fake and everyone can see that.
"You have been warned, Nadia. Don't let me repeat myself!" His hold on me was tight as he said those words, his possessive hand around me not so subtle.
Nadia gave a small nod while everyone else returned to their place of duty.
**By the time we made it to his bed chamber, I was in a cold sweat, my heart beating faster than normal. Sitting down on the bed, he pulled me to sit on his laps before nuzzling my neck with small kisses and causing me to giggle.“I’m sorry you had to go through that. I should have known better than to leave you all by yourself”
“It's okay” I said quietly, relaxing against him, “It’s not your fault that I’m my father’s daughter” I admitted.
He sighed and kissed the top of my head, “You’re your father’s daughter but that doesn’t mean anyone can disrespect you. You’re my mate and soon you’re going to be their Luna. The sooner they start respecting you, the better for”
My chest swell with pride as I continued to lean against him, the heat from his body enveloping and relaxing me completely.
The road ahead was not going to be easy especially for someone like me. One day I was the pack outcast and now, I was going to become the Luna, a position that was going to be more challenging that anything I have had to face before but I was willing to face it all, as long as I have Kai here with me.
After a moment of silence stretched between us, I spoke up again “Now what?”
He pulled back before turning me to face him, “Now, it’s time to make our union official"
Alana’s POVThe wind carried fresh smell of freshly baked bread through the open window and into the room where i stood staring at my reflection in the mirror. I couldn't recognize the girl who was staring back at me. She was beautiful, her face flawless and contoured with make up. Her lips in a perfect red. I looked amazing, almost like a princess._A complete opposite of who i used to be.Today was the day, our official mating ceremony was in a few hours. My palm felt sweaty not to mention how fast my heart was beating within my chest just thinking to myself ‘what if something goes really wrong tonight?’. Luna Emilia didn't give her blessings and most of the pack members have murmured in displeasure about our union but none has been able to come forward to speak up against us.Kai on the other hand has proven beyond measures how powerful a mate bond can be. Not everyone who get marked by their mate went to enjoy it like falling head over heels in love with them but ours has been di
Alana's POV.The bright morning sun filtered through the window and into the empty room. I'd spent the whole night locked up in one of the empty rooms in the pack's house, guards posted outside the door. And from all indication, I was now a prisoner.I was cranky and tired. my mind a complete mess from lack of sleep and anxiety. I clenched my trembling hands into fist as I stare down at my feet. I was still clothe in my ceremony dress from last night. My once spotless white gown now soiled with the Luna's blood. Not that it mattered at this point though, I wasn't sure the mating ceremony was still happening, not after everything that happened last night. The Luna wasn't dead but currently in the pack's clinic fighting for her life. According to the guards and the rumors flying around, It had already been announced in the village that i had tried to murder the Luna last night just like my father did the late alpha. Apparently, rumor has it that the Luna had refused to support my rel
Alana’s POV.The door opened again some hours later, ushering in one of the guards. "I'm here to accompany you to the judgement hall"My heart skipped an unhealthy beat at his word and i dung my nails into the palm of my hands to stop myself from visibly shaking.I gave a stiff nod, swallowing the lump that had formed in my throat before stepping forward and he turned and began to lead the way.More guards were stationed outside the room and more along the hallway. It's obvious someone was anxious that i might escape even though i had no intention towards it. If Kai wanted me to be put to death for something i didn't do then so be it. I'd embrace his judgment in good fate. It’s not like I have anything else to live for anyways. We arrived at the judgement hall where everyone including Kai was gathered. Older men and women, little children, faces I was seeing for the first time. Most of them were talking in low voices as they laugh and point at me with disgust. Some simply stared wit
Alana’s POV I winced as he kept his pressure on my wrist even tighter, his nails digging into my flesh painfully. "You’re lucky the alpha didn’t execute you like you deserved but I have no stress doing him the favor" His words tore through my heart like a dagger. The gripping fear i felt earlier began to morph into something else as i was overcame with rage. My nails that were short and covered in dirt began to elongate into sharp claws and without a second thought, I swept it across his face, wiping off the stupid smug grin he had going on. Gabriel was taken unawares, a surprised shriek tore through his mouth, his hold on me completely released and I landed back on my feet. While he was still cradling the spot I had slashed at him, I quickly grab one of the dead log on the ground and hit him over the head as hard as i could, the impact strong enough to send him stumbling backward a couple of yards. "I rather die than let you touch me, you piece of shit" I spat in contempt at the
Kai's POVI collapsed against the chair beside my mother's unconscious form on the clinic bed with hands clenched into tight fist, grief overwhelming me in a rapid wave and leaving me in a momentarily choke hold.I tried to feel numb to the pain that was consuming me on the inside but failed at the very last moment. The raw pain coursing through me felt endless, swallowing me whole. This is an injury i don't think i would ever be able to heal from.I was heart broken, my heart shattered into a million tiny pieces and bleeding. The weight of the decision i had been forced to take would forever hunt me in my dreams and every waking hour. Why……why did she do it? I could never wrap my head around it no matter how hard i tried. How could i have been so stupid to believe she was different and good. I was just starting to know her, getting her to relax around me and heck, she did, at least she did.She was perfect._ her small hand fitted into my large ones perfectly. Her shy smile, the sound
Kai's POVI stood there completely torn between anger and pain, my heart breaking all over again at the realization.Alana was really gone. I'm such a fool not to have believed her. Heck, i saw the way she looked at me. How scared she was back at the hall but i still let her down. I let out a frustrated growl, my clenched fist meeting the opposite wall hard. The pain i felt from the impact is nothing compared to the one coursing through my chest. I hurried out the door and towards the open field but stopped in my tracks when i noticed someone following me from behind."What's up, Alpha. Where are you going?” I turned around to find my Beta/Best friend, Adam standing there, his eyes narrowing at my restless demeanor suspiciously."I'm going after my mate and Gabriel"His eyes widen, "What? I mean, why? I thought she was banished and sent out of the pack by you""I was wrong! everyone was fucking wrong! She is innocent and i didn't believe her" I said, the last part coming out in a qu
Alana’s POVI jolted awake, my heart pounding in my chest as i gasped for breath. Beads of sweat tricked down my body drenched in fear. My head feels heavy and my mind a blank space. Was i dead? somehow, I had expected my death to be painful and quick but instead, I find that i was rather comfortable and breathing. Is this what afterlife feels like?As the haze of sleep finally lifted from my eyes, I realized with a shocking jolt that i was lying on a soft surface and even covered with a warm fur. As i lay there trying to steady my racing heart beat and wondering where the hell I was, the room suddenly felt suffocatingly small. The walls seemed to be closing in on me.I needed air, space to breathe and make sense of the chaos that had consumed my life. Just as i attempted to swing my legs over the edge of the bed, two strangers, a male and a female entered the room, their presence both comforting and unsettling. The female held something that looked like a medicine kit, her express
Kai's POV All movement outside the hallway came to a halt as I walked by an towards the pack house. The death of my mate was still fresh on my mind and that means if could flip out at anytime. It’s a good thing the servant can see my mood and stay out of my path. I continued to strode purposefully towards the building occupied by most of our pack warriors. I knocked on the several closed doors with my fist as I passed by them to get their sleeping ass to come out. I'd be pissed more than I already am if am made to repeat myself to anyone if they miss my announcement tonight. Within a few minutes of waiting, everyone start to file out and into the corridor. Some in pairs unless for the unmated ones who came out alone and cranky. I stood up straighter, asserting my dominance over everyone else. “What’s going on, Alpha” one of the warrior had asked from the crowd, a very annoyed frown cresting his face as he and his mate who looked rather flustered had stood wrapped in each other em

Cameron's POVI felt a surge of emotions—euphoria, joy, and a hint of fear. I looked at Chase, my twin and co-alpha, and saw the same storm in his eyes. We were on the verge of becoming fathers. Willow, our precious mate, was carrying our pup, our heir.I couldn't resist the pull of Willow, our beautiful Luna, as I wrapped her in a hug that conveyed all my love and gratitude. I nuzzled her neck, whispering words of praise and devotion. "You're amazing, Willow. You're the best thing that ever happened to us. We love you so much." Chase followed suit, joining our embrace and adding his affectionate murmurs. "You're incredible, Willow. You're our miracle. We love you more than anything."His happiness was detectable, radiating from every pore. We remained in our tight circle, savoring the moment and watching our little family grow.“Thank you,” Willow sobbed, clutching both of us in her arms. “Thank you, guys, for making me so happy. Thank you for giving me this beautiful gift.”We kisse
WILLOW’S POV“Look at him; he’s so adorable,” I cooed, cradling Cassandra’s newborn in my arms. His scent was a comforting blend of milk and honey, and his tiny fingers curled trustingly around mine.Chase, my other mate, said, "He looks just like his mom," as he wrapped his arms around me from behind. I love him as much as I love his brother. Both of them are my life, and I can't imagine living without them by my side. We were a trio with a rare and special bond. We loved each other equally, and we shared everything."Thank you for being here, guys. You're the best," Cassandra said, smiling from the bed. She looked tired but happy, her mate holding her hand."We wouldn't miss it for the world, Cass. Congratulations, you two. You're going to be amazing parents," I said, handing the baby back to her. She kissed his forehead and cuddled him close. "We're so lucky to have him."I felt a pang of envy in my chest, which I quickly suppressed and brushed away. I yearned for a pup of my own,
KAI’S POV“Hey, little guy. Welcome to the family,” I whisper to my grandson, Kaiser, as I hold him in my arms. He’s so tiny and adorable, his fingers clutching mine just as tightly. He looks up at me with his big, beautiful blue eyes, the same color as his mother’s.“Look at him, Alana. Isn’t he perfect?” I say this to Alana, the grandmother of my child. She’s standing next to me, her hand on my arm, leaning over to get a glimpse of his face as well. She nods, her eyes misty with tears of joy.“Of course he is, Kai. He’s just so adorable and perfect. I mean, just look at him,” she says, her voice soft and tender. She leans in further and kisses my cheek, then kisses Kaiser’s forehead. “We love you so much, sweetie. You’re the best gift we could have asked for.”We watch our family interact with little Kaiser, our hearts swelling with pride and love. Our sons, Chase and Cameron, are joking around, trying to impress their nephew.“Hey, Kaiser. I’m your uncle, Chase. I’m the coolest one
Alana's POVMonths had slipped by like sand through an hourglass since my children and I returned to the comfort of the Crimson Pack, our home. We were living with Kai, my mate, in a harmonious blend of familial love and unity. Kai, needing to relax and spend more time with me, had passed on the mantle of pack duties to our sons, Chase and Cameron. They had stepped into their roles as Alphas with grace and determination, making us both proud. While the pack thrived under new leadership, Kai dedicated himself to being my constant companion. I wouldn’t have it any other way, as his presence was a comforting shadow while we cared for our expectant daughter, Cassandra, together. Her due date was a mystery, looming in the near future, and our greatest desire was to ensure her comfort during this precious time.Amid the flurry of preparations for our soon-to-be grandson, Kai pulled me aside. His eyes twinkled with affection as he leaned in for a quick, tender kiss, a silent reminder of our
KAI’S POVThe night was beautiful. I felt the gentle caress of the wind brushing past my ears as I lay beside Alana, my heart pounding in my chest like a drum. I felt like a teenager again, having raced Alana to the lake earlier. Her laughter rang out in the air, a joyful symphony that made my heart flutter repeatedly. It was the sweetest music I had ever heard, a melody that filled me with an indescribable warmth.Alana Brooks was more than just my mate. She was the absolute love of my life—the woman who held my heart in her hands without even realizing it. For years, I made terrible decisions that kept us apart. However, seeing her so full of life and joy after all these years was like a balm to my soul.I couldn't believe how much I had missed this side of her—this radiant, vibrant woman who was the very essence of life itself. For a while, I had forgotten how much fun it was to be around her. Each time I reflected on the years that had passed without her, a pang of regret struck me
ALANA’S POV“I love you, Alana,” Kai whispered into my ears as we lay cuddled up in his room later that night. The gentle caress of the night air was seeping in through the window and blowing at us softly.I looked up at him, my eyes searching for his blue iris in the semi-dark room. “I love you, Kaiser. Forever and always.”A smile spread across his face as he kissed the top of my head, pulling me close against the steady rhythm of his heart. I let out a deep breath, allowing my eyes to close tightly. As I lay there, basking in the warmth of our embrace, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over me. It was as if the weight of all our past troubles had been lifted, leaving behind only the promise of a brighter future together. With Kai by my side, I felt stronger than ever before. The bond between us, once a source of pain and confusion, now felt like an unbreakable rope binding our souls together. It was a reminder of our enduring love and future commitment to each other.A
ALANA’S POVI felt the agony of each passing day, as if a knife were twisting in my chest. I couldn’t stop thinking about Kai, the man who had marked me as his mate and then vanished without a trace. Days have passed since his departure, and there’s still been no news from him. The people await his return as eagerly as I do. His voice haunts my dreams—a sweet and seductive song that makes me ache for his presence.I longed to feel his arms around me, his fingers laced with mine, and his breath on my skin. Kai made me feel whole, as if I had found the missing piece of my soul. The mate bond between us was a powerful force, a magnetic attraction that drew me to him with an irresistible urge. But he was gone, and I didn’t know why. I was restless and needed answers. I needed to understand what had driven him away under the pretext of returning. I couldn’t bear the uncertainty and distance any longer—I was tired of the endless wait for his return.I gathered my courage and made up my mind
ALANA’S POV“Father went home because he had things to do there, but he promised to be back. He will return soon," Cameron answered. I nodded at his words, but my heart was squeezing painfully, as if someone had wrapped a tight band around it. I tried to swallow the lump that formed in my throat, but it only made me feel more choked up. My eyes burned with fresh tears that threatened to spill over, but I refused to let them fall. I didn't want to show any weakness or vulnerability. I wanted to be strong—for myself and my children.Within me, I felt anything but strong. I was broken, shattered, and hollow. The room seemed to spin around me, amplifying a profound sense of loss. Kai’s absence had left a void in my soul like never before. He had been the one to mark me as his mate, and he had left me again. He might have promised to return, but his departure was still a silent goodbye, and it hurt more than any spoken words could. The pain was more intense than when he first rejected
