CHAPTER 23

(RHEA'S POV - IN ATLAS' BODY)

"I'm sorry, Alpha," the mercenaries said as they returned, their expressions grave.

"The shooter threw a smoke bomb to cover their tracks and escaped too quickly. We couldn't catch them," one reported, frustration lacing his voice.

I clenched my jaws, not liking the news.

My brain thought of all things at once, trying to find a way to identify the shooter. My gaze then landed on Lucien's lifeless form.

That’s right! There could’ve been a clue on his body.

Thus, I moved closer to knelt beside Lucien’s body, carefully inspecting the bullet wound. To my alarm, there was a faint, ominous sizzle emanating from it.

Tentatively, I reached out and touched the wound, recoiling at the sudden searing pain.

“Shoot!” I didn’t expect it to burn that fast. It felt like I was touching a molten lava, my skin corroded in matters of seconds. There was only one dreadful explanation to this phenomenon: the bullet was made from silver!

Silver—a lethal metal for all werewolves.
