Chapter Twenty-Four

She called me her Lord again and I could swear I saw a victorious glint in her eyes as if she knew how satisfied I was hearing her call me that. But I made sure she did not see my reaction. I could not show her I was pleased.

I cleared my throat and paced around her.

“Do not think yourself of any importance,” I told her with a stern look on my face. “I only sent for you because I had not seen you in days and I was worried that you would pull off the same thing you had done the last time during the wedding.”

“Ouch,” she muttered. “I shouldn’t have thought of myself as anything worthy of the alpha’s concern.”

I was amused by her confidence. The words from her lips flowed out smoothly as if she was talking to a friend and I wondered what the inspiration was.

“You know, since the last time I had you in this room you have not brought yourself before me,” I said with a secret grin on my face, knowing well she might not want to talk about that and the grin widened when I noticed the
