Chapter 39 Elliot Patton Weeds the Garden

"See that field out front? It's been a long time since it was weeded. Daisy and Ken are getting older. You do it.

"When you’ve cleared out the weeds, we’ll go back to Phoenix. You can threaten me, of course, but think about your grandpa's illness. I might be the only one who can cure it!"

Elliot looked at where she pointed to a big piece of land on the hill not far away. It looked to be about ten acres. All sorts of plants grew there.

Sophia explained, "Those are all rare and precious herbs. One of those is worth hundreds of thousands. Remember not to step on them."

Elliot frowned and said, "Will you go back with me to save my grandfather if I weed that whole place?"

"Yup," answered Sophia.

"Okay," said Elliot, heading straight toward the field.

Samuel wanted to say something but swallowed his words and ran after Elliot.

After taking a few steps, he turned back and shouted at the four men. "What are you looking at? Follow me."
