Chapter 24 I Don’t Want Them

Sophia had not in fact met a lecherous man in the scorching weather.

She was sitting comfortably in an air-conditioned car, enjoying some watermelon.

“Is it sweet enough for you, Sophia?” The driver, Benny Dale, asked.

She made a face. “It’s alright.”

Benny chuckled, “I bought it from a roadside vendor, so it might not taste good.”

Sophia did not reply but continued eating.

Benny said, “Everyone at the club misses you, Sophia. They’re setting up a game especially for you. Do you want to go?”

She was still focused on her watermelon. “No, I want to go back to the hospital to see Dorothy.”

“How is she?”

“The same as usual.”

“If she’s okay, how about we all meet up in the evening?”

“Well see.” Sophia looked up. “Go faster.”

She needed to reach the hospital to speak to her grandmother before Elliot did.
