Chapter 5
“Brother...”
"Yeah. Reid is my brother." Jordan responded with a raspy chuckle.
"But I...he...I didn't know..." Maya was still in shock. People had just tried to kill her - they tried to kill her and Mr Daw- Reid. Maya didn't even know who 'they' were. She wasn't even sure if he was alive.
Maya's eyes went wide at the thought. She looked down at her clothing and saw that they were covered in blood. Her hands covered in blood. Her thighs, - covered in blood - her shorts. Everything.
"Is he?" She whispered - her body shaking - and looked up at Jordan. "Is he going to d-" she couldn't get the word out. Maya was too afraid to even t
"You are not going back to your apartment. They will kill you and I can't have you die." Reid's voice came out controlled but it was laced with complete anger. Jordan was shocked at the fact that his brother was able to master that much level of self-control. Usually, Reid was a man that got whatever he wanted with no hassle. And in the off, off chance that he didn't – which was rarely – he was never this...what's the word? Repressed."Do you want a building with that?" Maya spat."Huh?" Both brothers asked – confused – in unison."So you can bang on your chest, King Kong." With a roll of the eyes Maya left Reid in all his anger and Jordan in a laughing fit. She walked over to the couch and took a seat, then gr
Drenched. Soaked and dripping wet. Both Reid and Maya had been moist with adrenalin both for completely different reasons. Reid placed Maya on her bed and instantly her knees came up to her chest, covering her body. A shiver ran down her spine as well as a stream of water, due to her shower. Reid on the other hand was like a walking god. His dark clothes clung to him like a second skin. The sight of his bulging muscles and rippling abs had her clenching her thighs. Her eyes trialed down his body and stopped at the bulge in his tight, soaked pants. Good heavens Maya thought to herself. As she continued to marvel over his mouth watering body, Maya realized that the man she was mentally undressing wawith the same intensity. His member twitched in his pants and he suppressed a groan.Shaking her head as if to rid her thoughts of a certain delectable treat she spoke fas
Maya was proud of herself, and she had every right to be. She had just beat Reid at his own game. He had always been in control of every situation, control of her emotions, control of her body and in control of her mind. Not that Maya would ever let him know that – though Reid was smart enough to know when her body would react to his. As she left the bathroom with a fluffy white towel wrapped around her warm searing body she heard him curse under his breath. A sly smile made its way to her lips, leaving her with a confidence the size of Reid's ego.Not bothering to check where she was walking, Maya strutted out into her temporary room, bumping Jordan in the process. Being the giant that he was, the force of the bump almost sent Maya to the floor but Jordan's big sturdy arms kept her in place. With a hand tightly holding onto the towel wrapped snuggly around her body, she sucked in a
"Maya?" There was a knock at the door but no answer came from her. "Maya?" Jordan continued to knock profusely, letting his frustration be felt through the weight of his knocks. He hadn't slept at all last night, thoughts of the crazy scene tortured him. Things were not going according to plan and the way in which everything spiraled out of control was something he hadn’t had the chance to wrap his head around. His anger for the situation they were in was compromising his effectiveness to solve problems. He was angry at his brother for allowing himself to get caught up with a girl he barely even knew. Reid was never so...reckless. He was angry because he knew his brother needed this. Needed Maya. Although their time together was brief and had left no room for either of them to get to know each other. Jordan knew tha
"What do you mean I'm on a plane flying over the ocean?" Maya was completely confused, a) because of the medication she was given and b) because it didn't look she was on a plane, or feel like it for that matter. Sliding up into a seat position Maya scanned her surroundings, all around her the colors of cream and beige danced on the walls and on all of the furniture.Beneath her were white, soft sheets - crafted by angel hands. The blanket covering her was a shiny black color. The material itself felt like silky dog hair, its weird but thats what it felt like. The room had a hint of vanilla in the air as well as cinnamon. She was in heaven, the calming nature of everything left her body at ease but the only thing that prevented her from fully relaxing was the man that sat staring at her."You need to leave me al
"The poor girl must be freezing." "I gave her clothes, but she didn't want the ones I picked out." "You never had good taste.""Psht, please, my style is impeccable." "Always so humble Reid."With the conversation buzzing all around her, Maya found it hard to keep her eyes closed and her mind asleep. Pealing one eye open, she assessed where she was. The room was bright with a copious amount of light streaming in. It took everything in her not to close her eyes. The memories of the whole days events slowly came back and settled in her mind. "Oh look she's wa
Maya didn't realize how much she had wanted to kiss Reid. But averting her eyes from his pouty pink lips she looked deeply into his brown orbs and whispered again "you won't" the look in her eyes was one of promise. She knew she shouldn't have made a promise like that but Reid looked like he was torturing himself. And the truth was she couldn't let him continue doing that to himself. Even after all the terrible things he had done to her and all the things he had put her through, she just didn't have the heart to let him be in that sort of pain. He had walked around with the guilt of his family for thirteen years and there was no way she was going to let him walk around with the guilt of her involvement. "I think you should go" Reid whispered, looking away from her. His voice faltered for a moment but he had already chained himself to self pity and self loathing and he didn’t need Ma
What are you thinking about?" Maya asked, looking up at Reid. They were both snuggled together on Reid's bed. His eyes were closed and he had a small smile on his face. Maya had never seen him that relaxed and careless since she had met him, it was a really nice thing to see, especially with everything that's going on. His body was lying carelessly on the bed, with his one strong arm wrapped around Maya's frame and the other leisurely supporting his head. He looked 'chill' and that was definitely not a word used to describe Reid. "Nothing." He spoke barely above a whisper, making no move to open his eyes or change his position. "Don't lie" Maya pressed for more information, as much as she had been restraining herself in the past, when it came to Reid, she was now not worried about pretences. "I want to know what's goi
